"John Travolta’s decision to play a woman in “Hairspray” has raised eyebrows among some Scientology watchers."
". . . . . L. Ron Hubbard, felt that gays “should be taken from … society as rapidly as possible” because “no social order will survive which does not remove these people from its midst.”"
Travolta’s new role is a drag for Scientology
That's funny, pab! The piece right below it is great, too:
"Tom Cruise has a bit of an image problem. In a recent poll, more people said they’d rather spend the night with Saddam Hussein than the 'Top Gun' star."
Wow, so honestly NO ONE is happy about this casting choice.

This comment makes the fact that his son was gay even sadder. The young man ended up taking his own life because of it.
Further proof that Scientology is evil.
But hey, maybe Travolta will "see the light" and come out now.
Yeah, maybe Scientology is evil, but they have good casting taste. Maybe Travolta cares enough about his religion to pull out of the film!

I didn't know this - how sad and frightening. So many ideologies that invalidate one's personal sense of self. Sick.
Just do a little internet research on Scientology. It's all very scary. It used to be that people who tried to get out, if that had any damaging information, would just disappear. They promise a cure of homosexuality if you give enough money.

There was a point not too long ago that I tried to find something out about these people - I live not far from Hemet, California, which is their 'retreat' area. After dipping my toe briefly in the fetid waters of their nonsense, I quickly realized I neither wanted nor needed to know any more.
And their centers continue to pop up all over the place. I would think the negative publicity of late concerning their 'star attraction' (the couch jumper) would have hindered their cause - but they seem to be surging forward at full steam.

I really don't understand how they're not considered a cult.
They are considered a cult by many people
Watch out Pab, the scientologists are worse than the Bush Administration at silencing their enemies and critics.
I cannot believe so many stars have fallen for this belief system and promote it.
I want to see some sort of "Faith-off" between Stephen Baldwin and Tom Cruise. Now, that would be entertaining.
Speaking of cults, what ever happened to the Moonies?
I think they bought the UPI.
Other than that, I have not heard much about them. I think I will take the UPI any day over Fox News.
Not to change the subject too completely, and speaking of Fox News, I saw the documentary Outfoxed yesterday. There was never any doubt in my mind that they were totally biased but it was interesting to see some that bias documented.
Outfoxed - Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism
Ahem - I lived right next to a Scientology establishment on 48th street for a few years and those boys were always standing out front, smoking cigarettes and cruising the other boys on the street. I'm just sayin.

I just read the article that Rolling Stone recently did on Scientology last night. A link is below.

Just because a male actor is playing a woman doesn't mean he's gay.
There's a whole list of heterosexual actors who have played women (with varying degrees of success).

I think it is fine for Travolta to plsay Edna......just as long as he doesn't take antidepressants for post partum depression.
I think you guys may have just given me an idea for my research paper-the dangers of Scientology.

Down with scientology!
Scientology has officially outlived its usefulness. Sorry. This merely proves...
Wait a minute. Scientology was never useful.

This is just like the closed-mindedness found in any religion. Now, I don't wanna be the cause of a scientology-religion debate here, so don't start :)
Anyway ... some people in the world are just so totally closed-minded; it's very, very sad.
So what will Scientology think of this?

Rather, what will his lovely wife think of this?
