The judge could ignore the recommendation & give him life.

Even if the judge agrees, with all the appeals he will be an old man if & when he ever gets executed.

It actually has probably saved his life, as this will keep him out of the general prison population - where he would have lasted about 2 seconds.

I hope the sentence does get bumped down to life in prison. I just don't understand how more death to makes things any better. I just caught a tiny bit of the news. Was there shouts of joy at the sentencing or did I hear wrong?

I think he should live a long, painful life in prison. Theres been enough death because of him, and I don't think he should be let off so easy. I mean sure no one wants to die, but I belive it would be more fitting to at least put him to work and make him miserable for a while first.

Here in this cold white room tied up to these machines, it's hard to imagine life as it used to be. Laughing, screaming, tumbling queen... Like the most amazing light show you've ever seen. Whirling, swirling, never blue... How could you go and die? What a selfish thing to do... RIP Jason

I'm not against the death penalty at all in many circumstances - if I was to have any hesitation, it would be because death is far too merciful. (Especially for rapist-killers, who'll be sodomized, beaten and tormented in gen pop until they die.)

There was a live audio feed on CNN when they announced it. You could hear applause, whistling, and cheering. It was very disturbing.

I'm not quite sure how I feel about this. I believe that he is a horrible man but at the same time I am against the death penalty(I believe that those who do wrong should suffer).

I also don't know if I agree with the double-murder charge. I believe it should have been murder as well as an additional charge.

This is always such a difficult decision to make because while he shouldn't be "getting off easy" with death, I don't want my tax dollars to be paying to keep him in a maximum security prison. IMO, we should kill the the little f****r

awkward.

Jwei, it's more expensive to put a person to death than to give them life in prison. It may not seem like it, but it is true. Your tax dollars at work.

Is Scott Peterson guilty of killing his wife and unboarn child? You bet!

Is Scott Peterson the scum of the earth? You bet.

Still, when I heard the live broadcast as I was driving home from work, I got sick to my stomach. Killing Peterson won't bring back the lives he took.

It seems so barbaric for a panel of 12 jurors to clinically decide another human being should die--even if that "other human being" is Scott Peterson.

I thought we were a civilized society.

I'm against the death penalty as well, but not for the same reason as Dollypop. I, for one, think religion (particularly the Catholic church) is a load of crap and is a big brainwashing center. It's sickening. I am against it because it's the easy way out. Someone can brutally murder other people, and have an injection end their life peacefully. Why not push him into a river with weights on his feet, or bash his head in with a baseball bat? Surely rottin in jail is much worse than dying on a bed with a needle. Come on.

It's even more barbaric for one person to decide his wife and unborn child should die. He revoked his right to life when he willfully took the life of others for personal gain. IF he did in fact commit the crime beyond the shadow of a doubt.

Unfortunately, I didn't follow the events of the trial closely. Wasn't the evidence circumstantial? Was there any physical evidence that he committed the crime? Did they find the bodies? I really didn't hear much about it other than he was found guilty.

They found the bodies right where he had been fishing.

So they proved that he actually killed them? It sounds like he did, but isn't that still circumstantial? Or are they trying to make up for O.J.?

Matt-It was still circumstancial.

The jury was very serious and deliberate with their verdict. Obviously, Sharon Rocha's testimony the first day sealed Scott's fate. They did not convict him so much for the murder but for the utter lack of emotion he had during the whole time. He was seen laughing at her candlelight service, constantly chatting with the girlfriend on the phone, making the baby's room that Laci lovingly prepared, a storage room, and showing absolutely no feeling or emotion over what he did. And he did do it. The jury hated him for this. There are over 650 prisoners on death row. He execution could be 30 years from now. To me, he got what he deserved.

I see. Then I would not feel right about the death penalty. I don't know how I would feel about a verdict of guilty. Does everyone here feel the prosecution really met the burden of proof?

"I agree - I think it is an even harsher sentence to have to sit in jail and be handed a note:
When Your dad is dead -
When your mom is dead -
etc ..."

My father is in this situation and to my knowledge, he's never said that he'd rather be dead than get those notes (and btw, prison doesn't work like that -- more than likely, Peterson would be able to call his family over the phone for that information).

There's always hope.
