Well, Elphie I'll take "okay for a homo" over "burn in hell queer" any day

Do you guys and gals agree that all of us have a bit of homophobia?
Some more, some less, some a lot more , some a lot less?

I've never met a homosexual of whom I was afraid.
Plus, I think it's inherent in the definition of prejudice that, unless you're highly self-loathing, you can't necessarily have prejudice against something of which you are part.
I could be reading too much implied meaning there, though.
I don't think it can be helped, chita. I have no shame in admitting I do myself and it's something that has gotten better since coming out to the folks. I think I take the guilt I feel and use it to shame/ridicule gay boys that don't fit into MY idea of 'mos.

sing a song,I'm not sure I understood you. I think lesbians and gays can be homophobic. I think blacks can be racist. I don't think we as a siociety can be 100% free of prejudice since it is so pervasive in our culture.
Yeah lil. Especially us gay men. The prejudice we sometimes feel towards effeminate men.
and I'm one who is trying to work out my prejudice towards butch women....I honestly don't know what that's about!

See, I like a tough broad...of course most of the broads I know are straight.
Sing, I think gay people can be totally homophobic--a word I've never liked, but we're stuck with it I guess.
And you're right about femme guys though--how many online profiles ask for str8-acting? (note use of online slang)

yeah str8 acting! we could have a lot fun with that. How str8 do you want me to act while...fill in the blanks.
like str8 hairspray. I just saw The Boys In The Band

I've ranted (often on this board) about how much I hate the expression "straight acting." If you're a man and you're doing it with another man, you ain't all that straight.
"Straight acting" has really been phased out in favor of "masculine." In and of itself, that's not a bad thing, but the implication that those of us who aren't as "masculine" are somehow lesser gets my goat.
BUT there are lots of guys who DO like girly boys...thank god. That's what's great about NYC--you can afford to be picky, cause we got all kinds!

Oh, I know there are. I'm just sayin'.
long before the cellar, it's actually the family picture of Alexander III, his children (including the future Nicholas II) and Alexanders Empress, Maria Feodorovna
I mean, I think what's difficult is that there's no definition of how a homosexual is supposed to act, or even really how gender defines you -How should girls/boys/gays/lesbians dress? how much of one's personality is defined by gender or sexuality? The divide between "straight acting" gays and "effeminate" gays is similar to the divides in the feminist movement about how women should act in the workplace, dress, whether or not being a homemaker is a respectable life, etc.
Elphie: I was on the right track...
Good call, Pinguin...that sounds like a pretty good analogy.
yes you were lildogs.......most wouldn't have even thought it was royalty....

just heard a terrible and funny joke.
peter allen is a homosexual act.
Chita, your avatar changed as I was reading your posts. It blew my mind. What other tricks can you do?
Seriously, my response to your question "are you kidding" is belated, but it had to wait till I got home from work. Yeah, I don't really intend to take down all your names on a little notepad I keep for nefarious purposes - just trying to make a point.
Lildog, you believe, quite rightly, that it should be your choice to decide what personal information or yours you will share with the general public. YOU believe it would be to no advantage for you to post name & address, etc - but suppose someone insists that it would be - even if it helped a few kids on this board who are afraid to come out and think a lot of people posting here are only pretending and wouldn't really come out if people knew who they were? I would never be one of the people to make such an argument, but it's conceivable. The bottom line is that somebody other than yourself is deciding what you should be willing and ready to do, is not interested in what considerations you have against such an action, is calling you a hypocrite for not handing over, basically, anything they demand out of your soul. That person has no right to do that. That's my point.
Anyway, sorry to drag the thread back a couple of pages - we've moved beyond that and there's some really great, insightful, provacative posts since then - and pretty funny! Just wanted to explain myself. Didn't want to give anyone the heebeejeebiies there.

Just wanted to interject that I started this thread as a parody. I meant that Sean Hayes was betraying the gays by legitimizing that no-talent hack (and Rath fave!) Britney.
I shoulda called the thread, "Please Don't Feed the Federline."
Carry on.

The fact is that people still wanted to discuss the serious aspect of your topic and most of us skipped the irony in the subject line.

That's fine. That's why I said it was an interjection and then encouraged folks to carry on.

namo are you gay? and if you are...what do you think of my avatart?
The "t" is not silent.

Gay as a goose, dahhhhlink. I don't recognize the tart, but I've made that expression more than once. Today!
Bringing the thread back to the initial subject: Namo, you don't have to worry anymore. Briteny's story line has been yanked because it upset conservative Christian groups.
