His speech at the SAG Awards tonight was a smart, clever little political statement and I applaud him for making it in such a casual way.
Now if only the Brokeback guys could have shown some respect.
Sean Hayes is the most dispicable closeted gay man in Hollywood!
Oh I LOVE when people have opposing opinions.
Especially when one of them said I was spewing garbage!

I think the Brokies Got Back Boys were basically bombed, that's all.
Sean Hayes is the most dispicable closeted gay man in Hollywood!
Is he a despicable man who happens to be a closeted Homo? Or is he despicable because he IS a closeted Homo?
If it is the latter I am sure there are more despicable closet cases.
If it is the former, DO TELL!

Perhaps it's me, but I find some people to be a bit conflicted in their convictions.

Tell it, Brother DG.
It's funny how people are, isn't it?
Isn't Sean Hayes currently dating Katie Holmes? Oh wait, i may have that wrong...
He made BBM jokes at every event I've seen him at in recent memory. He just needs new material.

If I were him, I'd be annoyed that everyone in BBM gets praise for "daring to play gay", while he's been doing it for a decade and has gotten zero praise for being daring and risky.
I'd definately be making jokes at every chance I got, too. It's absurd and should be pointed out.
I don't know about that, touchme; Sean is KNOWN for playing gay--both in W&G and for Billy's...Kiss. I don't recall ever seeing Jack kiss a guy, much less bend over and take one for NBC. He also doesn't have a matinee idol image, nor is he a Hollywood leading man. Hayes owes his career to playing gay for yucks. I'm not lauding Jake and Heath for playing gay, but Hayes has no reason to be bitter or resentful. And as for zero praise, Hayes has a shelf full of awards and no doubt a bank account full of $$$.
I sincerely believe Sean Hayes is the most gifted male comic of his generation. Am i crazy?

I guess the way I see it is that Sean has become known for playing gay because he played gay when it was a career pitfall to play gay. And while he makes more money than the GDP of most countries, he may still secretly wish to play straight maybe once in his career.
He could have just as easily been a matinee idol if he had been marketed differently than he is, and I think he's just guilty of the belief that the grass is greener on the other side. The side that is straight, masculine, and likes to wrestle with cowboys.
Maybe eslgr8 has Sean Hayes mixed up with Sean Hannity.

They do look oddly alike. Do I smell a conspiracy theory?!
Hm. I guess I don't see Sean as being Movie Star Material, a great character actor yes, but not really the looks needed for those kind of roles. Not that he's not cute--he is, but not like "hunk" fodder. And if Sean wasn't playing Jack, who would he be playing? And what career did he have before W&G? Like I said, he was in "Billy's," but he was gay in that as well. Yes, Heath and Jake aren't Rosa and Medgar...but I just can't see Sean's pic in Tiger Beat.

Don't you think with some tweeks from a smart manager, he could have been a leading man?
NOT at all touchme..........
Heath isn't going to be in Teen Beat too much longer with that major hair lose thing he's got going on. Yikes, it looked bad.
I think Sean is great and deserved the award. I only saw Megan in the audience. Where the others there?
Sean DID play straight in that Jerry Lewis movie. Unless you know something about Jerry that his kids don't.
I am still waiting for ESLGR8 to clarify his comment. Is Sean despicable because he is in the closet? Or just a despicable person in general? Why do you say that with such authority? Were YOU up for the role of Jack and they gave it to a closeted actor?
Touch - since my image of Sean is forever influenced by how he played Jack, my answer is a reasounding no.
Had he never played Jack, probably no, but who knows. At first blush, you could never picture Tom Hanks, "that guy from from Bosom Buddies" as starring in Apollo 13 and Saving Private Ryan.
lildogs: There have been a couple of episodes of W&G with 2 men kissing. It was the first for the network.
I think Sean Hayes made the valid point of "what's the big deal"
Broadwaylady, only Megan was there with Sean because the two of them were nominated. Debra and Eric were not. Megan and Sean have always been SAG Awards favorites, and rightfully so. The show itself did not receive a Best Ensemble nom, which is the other reason Debra and Eric were not there.
Well, two men might have kissed, but it wasn't Sean...it was Eric if I recall correctly.
And I LOVE balding boys, SOMMS! But, I don't read Tiger Beat. I read Daddy Beat (Me....Hard)
