I'm attempting to make some money off all my old books by selling them on amazon.com. Has anyone done this before? I have a copy (in almost perfect condition) of THE HISTORIAN, and a few other books I want to get rid of.
I recently bought a "like new" dvd from amazon.com and it worked out well, and wanted to give it a try.

Sweet. I have to go home and get all my bank crap together to register, then I can start selling my books.
I never thought I'd see the day when I'd have to sell my book collection. Not that I like all my books (The Historian, for

Not only was The Historian a draggy read, you're probably going to have a hard time selling that one on Amazon. Bestsellers tend to be printed in such large runs that they end up remaindered and you have all these remainder houses listing them for .01 and such.
If you have any cast recordings you don't listen to that often, look them up, too. A couple of months ago I sold my Les Miserables Paris Cast Recording for $135!

Eh, my recording collection is minimal. Most are burnt. Most of my good stuff is back in Texas.
Speaking of the Historian, I was flipping channels and came across Book TV or whatever the channel is with all the book club conferences, and the topic was Female Writers of Today or whatever. Well, the one that was speaking was Koren Zailckas (author of Smashed: Story of a Drunken Girlhood). She stopped speaking and then it moved on to Elizabeth Kostova and I had to change the channel.
It infuriates me that this book gets so much attention. I'm glad they've taken them off display cases at bookstores. I'm sick of seeing it.

Currently unavailable. The one I sold was also currently unavailable and I listed it at $135 thinking no one would really pay that for it. (I really didn't care to part with it.) To my surprise it sold in less than a week. You could probably go higher than that for Whoop-Up!

historically, novels on EBAY don't tend to make a lot of money....., so have appropriate expectations.
I spent $300 on discontinued Fiestaware one year, held it for 2 years, and made $1200
I've made a fortune on my Nun collection when I sold that, used cell phones, etc.
Books are a tough sell.......

half.com is great too when it comes to selling books. I've sold an entire semester of textbooks and recieved about what I paid for them to begin with.
DVD's are also pretty hard to sell sometimes
