I'm a pretty big poster on numerous message boards and throughout them all, I have found very few people who watch Shameless. It's a little depressing.
I honestly would go as far as saying it's the best show on television right now.
Emmy Rossum has always been fantastic in this series but this season has put her into a whole new level of amazing. If she isn't nominated for some awards this year, it will be a complete travesty. Her and Jeremy Allen White are both on fire this season.
So does anyone else watch? And if you don't, GET ON IT! :)
I love Shameless! Emmy Rossum's work has been great on the last two episodes, but I feel like the show gets ignored during awards season so I won't be surprised if she's overlooked again. They've also severely underused Ian this season. Cameron Monaghan is a terrific actor and they've given him very little to do. Hopefully we'll see more of him in the next few episodes.
I haven't seen the latest episode, but I have a really hard time feeling bad about Fiona being arrested. She's a smart girl. She didn't think she would be arrested when she said he got into her coke? She seemed shocked and outraged. I thought it was the most irresponsible thing she's done. It even tops some of Frank's f*ck ups. It seems so out of character.
As a Brit I cringed when I heard about this inevitable remake but I have to say I love it. The UK version is great for the first few seasons but then becomes a mess, the last few seasons on the UK have become unwatchable.
I heard Fiona in the UK Shameless left after the second season. I can't imagine Emmy Rossum ever departing. She's the MVP in the American version, IMO.

The UK version had Maxine Peake. She was the definitive neighbor. Why would you want to watch any other version?
And I do agree that after a few seasons, the UK version just fell apart. Cast members began leaving and the core of the slow slipped. They started putting a lot of attention on the Maguires and they weren't that interesting.
For comedy, I think Maxine Peake, the black lesbian and the "Muslim" woman store owner were the funniest parts of the show.
It sucks this brilliant show gets overlooked during awards season. Sadly, much like The Wire (one of the greatest television shows of all time), it shows what it's like to really struggle and live in poverty. Those shows typically do not win awards or get much recognition. The entire cast is wonderful and I'm so glad it got renewed!

songanddanceman2, I just checked on IMDb and it states that Anne-Marie Duff left after Season 2, but did return for one episode last year during Season 11.
