Sorry for the shilling but I must, can't control myself. I am directing A Mind-Bending Evening of Beckett at the Irish Rep. We are putting on three of Samuel Beckett's short plays; Act Without Words 1, Breath, and Play.
Chose these three to put up because they sort of follow Beckett's vision, One is acting without words, one is words without acting, one is neither words or acting.
In delving into these pieces, I have discovered the genius that lies beneath his work. An amazing mind!
We begin previews on the 16th and run through Dec 1st.
It is nice to be directing again!

The best I can do. We are doing Act Without Words with a Bunraku style puppet, which the Beckett Estate Approved! They are known for being VERY, Very protective of the property, even having us sign a waiver!
We also have in our cast Racheal Pickup, whose father starred in Play which was directed by Beckett himself! Damn I am really nervous at to what his comments will be!

I think it's shilling only when you pretend that's not what you're doing ("Hey, has anybody heard of this GREAT new play? I'm going to check it out!!!")
I love Beckett and hope to get to see this. Best of luck with it!

I agree there's nothing wrong with honest shilling. Let's face it: who goes to off-off-Broadway but our friends in the business?

The work my actors have been doing is awe inspiring! Two of them have never puppeteered before but have taken to it like a duck to water. They are managing to get this little 24 inch tall three person puppet to live! The choreography they have to do just outside the wall of light to get our wooden star to walk across stage, pick up crates and stack them is AMAZING!

This sounds like the puppet show Jason Seagals character in Forgetting Sarah Marahal is producing.
