For my music theatre audition in college, should I just stand there adn act only with my face and arms? or would it be okay to move and walk around a little bit. I don't want to distract them from my voice, but I want to show them I can do it.
What do ya'll think?
MOVE if you need to, they don't want to just hear your voicxe, they want to see you PERFORM! have fun with it!
Don't do any choreography type steps, they don't need to see that you can sing and dance, they'll figure that out later if they want/need to. Move, but keep your movements minimal and natural.
As long as you don't appear stiff and mechanical, and they see that your body can react to the music, than it'll be fine.

I say be loose and comfortable and do what comes naturally. I wouldn't necessarily plan out exactly where you step and things like that. Just be natural and let if flow.
Unless they specifically say that they don't want movement, I would say feel free to move as you see appropriate.
I would say don't focus so much on whether to simply move or not, but try to focus on making sure you effectively communicate the message and text of the song. if that means taking a step towards something you want then take it. but make sure all movements are grounded in motivation and reality. good luck!

--Learn the song and use any movement you want. It is easier to rein in than to do the reverse.
--Then each time you run through the song, cut something. When it gets to the point where it becomes false, you ought to be doing very little with your body, but enough to get the meaning and your POV across.
--Also speak the lyric. Tell the story in conversational tones. What does your body instinctively do? That is your truth.
--What does the song say? What do you want to say using the song? Why are YOU singing this song? Find a Point of View. Have a reason for every movement, pause, emphasis and inflection.
