Can I just get in on the sex?

Bobby, JRB is VERY accommodating.

re: Shut NYC Down

Seriously? I mean...what ****ing planet is everyone on?

People seem to want a protest that won't inconvenience anyone.

Gosh...how effective.

I mean...the most successful protests in history have been about economics. What do you expect???

re: Shut NYC Down

F*ck if I know.
I'd much rather see a guy on a crate screaming at people.
Something tells me that shutting down a Broadway show will do nothing but piss off the other half of the audience that isn't there for the convention. It's merely a blip on the radar of the people who matter.

Do you think the conventioneers expect things to be rosey and quiet? I doubt it. They're expecting protests and anger... their adrenaline is rushing... Fight or flight is in full effect. Oh, go ahead and disrupt 'Wonderful Town'... that'll show 'em.

I saw we take all the Republican's tea and throw it into the Hudson.

Oh one more thing, Christopher:

I think y'all should find every box of Cheerios at every hotel in Manhattan and piss in it.

That'll show 'em.

At least the LA CAGE AUX FOLLES revival isn't open yet...because that would be the show of choice for most of the patrons of the RNC.

re: Shut NYC Down

Aw sh*t robbie...
Why do you have to go and bring the concept of a volunteer military up? If they wanted to work at the thong counter at Nordstrom, they would be... They wanted to be soldiers. I have a real problem here. I regret that they are in harm's way, but I have to acknowledge that they were not drafted to be there. Yet.

I think to protest, the military should all sit down at 3:15pm and hum the theme to "Ice Castles" for 5 minutes.

Indeed, JRB the RNC has fully booked the 8 shows they are targeting on the 29th, including Wonerful Town.

re: Shut NYC Down

Why add the 'yet'? Why be pessimistic?

This whole situation (the war, not the thread) sickens me.

EDIT: And saddens.

re: Shut NYC Down

I hope this hasn't been asked before , but what shows are they seeing? (if any). I mean because the conventions usually start around 4 in the afternoon and go until at lease 11 or later, when will they have time to squeeze in a B-Way show?

I just don't want to pull out, and see on CNN that the new government was slaughtered and the religious fundamentalists are shooting everyone in sight.

re: Shut NYC Down

Christopher,

Now COME ON! I have met, as I'm sure you have, many people who would never have even been able to go to college if it wasn't for the military. Many of whom are gay (which is one answer to the question 'Why would gays even want to serve in the military?')

I'm going to make a HUGE assumption about you right now, but I'm gonna guess we were both very fortunate in that either our parents or Sallie Mae paid for our education at Syracuse.

Yes...they made a choice...and in some cases, it was probably their only choice in order to pursue happiness as they saw fit (that, unlike working in a stable environment, is actually a guaranteed right). And our government has a responsibility not to put them in harms way unless absolutely necessary.

Nah, I had to be an RA... I needed the stipend from Student Government... I was a catering supervisor... I worked nights at HanCOCK Int'l Airport (capitalization necessary to show the airports full name without censoring) unloading UPS jets... And I got a lot of loans that I'm now paying off...

But I understand your sentiment. I do. Where we differ, is that I think this is a just cause. I've seen too many mass graves in that part of the world. Sometimes people need a defender that doesn't come from within.

I'm assuming Bobby, that your post is sarcasm.

re: Shut NYC Down

OK...here's the thing. IF (and this is a huge IF) the situation becomes stable in Iraq (and I'm not fool...it will take a loooong time and we cannot leave without cleaning up the mess) and somehow a model of democracy is set up that inspires change throughout all of the Middle East, then I will be the first the say 'Damn...it was worth it.' But who knows if that will be the case?

The most appalling notion is that these men and women were sent to battle on faulty, false intelligence. They deserve MUCH better.
"I'm so looking forward to a time when all the Reagan Democrats are dead."

re: Shut NYC Down

I think that the most appalling part is that when they return, the same people who sent them needlessly in to harms way have cut their benefits and access to medical care. It is the most disgraceful slap in the face to these men and women who have volunteered to put their lives on the line for the rest of us. If for no other reason, these guys should be shamed out of office.

re: Shut NYC Down

Robbie, thank God you brought reality back into this. The reason they are called disruptive protests is because they disrupt and protest.

For your information, Chris, John Kerry has no vacation homes. In fact, he has no homes. They are all owned by Teresa. Well, he does own half of the Beacon Hill place that they bought with her money after they were married. Before this marriage, Kerry was living in a one bedroom rental on Sleeper Street in South Boston. I do have to admit, I got a little tingle when I read you were a UPS guy...
