HA! Yes - they have received the minimum 100,000 signatures to ask for the deportation of Justin Bieber. Hilarious.
Washington (AFP) - As if Barack Obama didn't have enough problems to deal with already, his administration now is being asked to weigh in on the grave matter of Justin Bieber.
By mid-day Wednesday (1700 GMT), a petition on the White House website calling for the deportation of the Canadian-born teen idol had garnered 103,000 names -- easily surpassing the threshold of 100,000 signatures required for presidential consideration.
"We the people of the United States feel that we are being wrongly represented in the world of pop culture," says the petition, created by one "J.A." in Detroit last Thursday, the day Bieber was busted in Miami Beach for impaired driving and illegal drag racing in a flashy Italian sports car.
"We would like to see the dangerous, reckless, destructive, and drug abusing, Justin Bieber deported and his green card revoked. He is not only threatening the safety of our people but he is also a terrible influence on our nation's youth. We the people would like to remove Justin Bieber from our society."
There was no immediate comment from the White House, whose website hosts citizens' petitions on other, more heady issues such as the legalization of marijuana and a pardon for National Security Agency whistleblower Edward Snowden.
Nor was there comment from Bieber himself, who according to gossip websites was back in Los Angeles on Wednesday after a weekend beach break in Panama.
Bieber, 19, is understood to be living and working in the United States under a renewable O-1 visa for entertainers, rather than a "green card" that represents permanent resident status.
Now out on bail, Bieber is due back in Miami for a court appearance on Valentine's Day, even as police in Los Angeles pursue their investigation into an earlier incident in which Bieber allegedly hurled eggs at a neighbor's house.

Oh, for f*ck's sake.
After much agonized reflection on this hard-hitting subject, I have come to the conclusion the government has better things to do.
The government wouldn't declare Westboro a hate group or take away their tax-exempt status even though those petitions had enough signatures. If they wouldn't get involved in that they will definitely not get involved in this.
From what I understand, and someone can correct me if I'm wrong, a DUI for a legal immigrant can only lead to deportation hearings if they are convicted and sentenced to a year or more in prison. At the moment, other than him being a douche, there is no law on the books that would call for him to be deported and a petition is not going to do it either.
they only have 100,000 signatures so far anyway.
Which is the exact number needed. The White House reviews ANY petition that gathers 100,000 or more signatures.

Exactly, some staffer reviews it, sees that it's a waste of time, and hits the delete key.

No, they must respond it. The response could be something simply equivalent to "no comment." But a response from the White House is required.

The Obama administration will surely grant Justin Bieber the courtesy they granted to Dick Cheney, Colin Powell, George W. Bush, Condoleeza Rice, Donald Rumsfeld and the Abu Graib torturers, and sweep the whole matter under the rug.
Now if Justin Bieber had leaked NSA documents, that'd be a different matter.
He makes too much money to be deported.

Wonder though...he has a Visa to live here and work but does he pay taxes? If he doesn't pay taxes to the US government why would the US care if he continues to live here?
He has the VISA because they consider his talent worthy. He can still be creative and talented somewhere else and his music can be heard here.
Bieber's lawyers are certainly watching the amount of time he is here and could craft his work schedule to put him in other countries for work/play/stupidity to avoid paying the taxes.

I think TLC gave us our first glimpse at the next generation's Jocelyn Wildensteen (aka the Cat Lady).
If he earns money here then he pays taxes here. I know a few Irish performers who tour here and I know they do have to file US tax forms.
This guy has had enough, and I feel the same way.
