And the reference to white does not equal pretty was alluding to the fact that gay guys of color have it rougher in the gay community when it comes to getting dates.

Racial preference in the gay community has been on my mind lately. I should probably start a new thread topic for this, but I want to ask: how many gay men here have ever dated a non-white gay man? Be honest: does race/ethnicity ever feature into your initial attraction for a person?

I recently got a friend to admit that if presented with two equally hot men, one white and one Asian, he would choose the white man over the Asian man.

People who eat are pretty. I have guys friends who are wrestlers, ugh I get so frusturated with them during wrestling season, I just want to shove cake down their throats.

Wrestlers are the worst, especially during the season when they're trying to make weight. I was an aide in the health room at my high school and the nurse told me that some of the guys on the wrestling team at her daughter's school would eat this blue gel stuff so that they'd fool their stomach into thinking it had food into it. The gel wouldn't break down in their systems, but would just melt into a liquid and they'd pee it out.

BlueWizard, thank you for bringing this up, because it's not just gay men that have issues with race. My last two relationships have been with guys of other races (I'm white), but it didn't occur to me until I went to an incredibly liberal, but not racially diverse college that not everyone felt the same way. I've even had friends tell me that they would never date a guy of a different race. It's okay to completely lust after Taye Diggs, but they'd never actually consider dating him. Ugh.

Race is not an issue for me--I'll date a person who I personally find attractive and has a great personality. But, I wouldn't always assume a person is being racist for not going after a person of color. Sometimes, the difference is truly the same as not being into blonds or people with green eyes or whatever.

Well... I will admit that race is somewhat of an issue with me. The same way body type is. I'm latin, and am not very attracted to latin men. Ditto for asian men. I have never dated a black man, but not because I am not attracted. The opportunity hasn't presented itself.

It's all about the person on the inside. Plus, everyone looks great in the dark!
