re: 'So You Think You Can Dance' is Back!!

Ohhh I really really hope they keep Danny around....I don't know though. I wanted Mia to choreograph something on him.

Sara isn't my favorite, I don't get why everyone loves her! She's strong and confident. I guess that makes up for her lack of technique? People keep saying she works so hard to pick up the different styles (which she does) but she's never done it for me except when she's doing hip hop.
"Now she wants to know WHY, if I'm so fabulous, I would WANT to take care of her child.....I answer with as much filigree and insouciance as I can muster, trying to slightly cock my head like Snow White listening to the animals. She, in turn, is aiming for more of a Diane-Sawyer-pose, looking for answers which will confirm that I am not there to steal her husband, jewelry, friends, or child. In that order." The Nanny Diaries

Well- not too surprised about the results tonight. I thought Lauren would go instead of Sara but Lauren is a better technical dancer. I just like Sara's personality better. Mia's dance saved Neill because on his solo tonight- his shoulders looked horrible! I really like Lacey but I HATED her solo tonight. Sabra had the best solo! I love Pasha as he is the best all-around performer. I know there are a lot of Danny haters but I love to watch his technique- he's amazing. Right now, I would put my money on Sabra!

re: 'So You Think You Can Dance' is Back!!

Jane2- totally agree with you. However, Sabra seems to be more popular. Also if you take in the fact that she has only been training for 4 years then she is the better dancer as it didn't take her as long to reach this point. By the way were you a little creeped out by how Dominic was groping Cat? Even my daughter said she was feeling a bit uncomfortable watching that!

All I know is that no one approaches the consistency of Travis, Benji and Heidi; and, nobody comes close to Benji's showmanship. A letdown overall from last year, I think.

mom-yes, I noticed the groping but I chalked it up to nerves due to his being voted off.

She looked a little uncomfortable there too!

So who got voted off tonight? Sara? Was she the only one. Sorry, I missed it

re: 'So You Think You Can Dance' is Back!!

None of the women really wowed me with their solos. Unfortunately for Sara, she will always be compared to the “b-BOYS.” She’s tough, and she’s good. Despite her physical strength, however, she is a shade under the boys. Lacey spent the first 3/4 of her time horsing around on stage. Sabra and Lauren were both good, but neither did anything beyond what we know they can do.

Neil’s solo choreography was, for once, interesting. Danny’s was odd. Dominic did what he needed to, in case he stays around one more week: he entertained the crowd, despite a fumble with the chair. Pasha didn’t really dance, but he did it shirtless. That will win some votes.

I was surprised to see Neil in the bottom two boys, but I am not surprised ay who is going home. It is a shame that Dominic didn’t stay around one more week, because his performance tonight (combined with his charming, harmless flirtation with Cat, which has been going on for weeks) was the only one that I think earned additional votes for next week. Interestingly, I think we just lost the two dancers who have grown the most throughout the season. I hope they are given a kick*ss duet for the tour. They would be awesome together.

re: 'So You Think You Can Dance' is Back!!

Although the season isn't up to par with prior seasons (I know we're all season 2 lovers on here, but does no one remember season 1??? It was AWESOME), I am happy with the progression of the season thus far. Everyone that I had hoped would make it this far has. There really aren't many surprises, although with some I would've either kept them for another week or sent them home a week later, but usually with this sort of competition you can kinda tell who's good and who's just not quite there.

That being said, unlike most it seems, I actually found last night to be quite exciting, and one of the more fun episodes this summer. At least the episode with the best music :) And I always love a night with a GOOD broadway routine.

Sabra does no wrong, IMO. Despite this, I also sense that Lacey is super popular, even if that's not the way I feel, and think that, unfortunately, she could win this thing in her sleep, and I do't exactly mean that in a good way. But for someone with 4 years of training to continuously outdance everyone around her, some with close to a lifetime of training or (in Danny's case) professional experience, well, let's just say that takes some moxie. That girl has it. And better win.

With Neil close behind, of course :)

re: 'So You Think You Can Dance' is Back!!

i'm pretty sad by sara getting kicked out. she has always been one of my favorites. i think that lauren should not have even been in the top 10 (jaimie and anya instead of her) but that's another story... sara had the best female solo and has just come so far. i applaud her for all that she's been able to do!

i was fine seeing dominic go, i hated the chair, i feel uncomfortable with his puppy-love for cat. i was surprised that neil was in the bottom two instead of danny, but so be it.

i think the top 4 should/will be sabra, lacey, neil and pasha.

Personally, and I know I'm in the minority for this, but I'd rather it be Sabra, Lacey, Neil, and Danny. That boy is A-mazing. And being a dancer I do tend to look at technical skill over other things, and he has it.

"Mia's dance saved Neill because on his solo tonight- his shoulders looked horrible!"

The solos are irrelevant at this point. They can't save anyone. The votes are tallied and whoever is going home is going home even if they just walk out there and take a s^*t on the stage.

So why is it he was so horrible executing a hip hop routine that even I could have done?

re: 'So You Think You Can Dance' is Back!!

I think Danny is an amazing dancer but I think his attitude sucks. I think his personality or lack there of is what hurt him in the past. There is something about him that strikes me as hallow.

re: 'So You Think You Can Dance' is Back!!

Coma, as a former professional dancer whose technique was nowhere near Danny's, and who relied on his performance level to get jobs, I would much rather watch a more impassioned dancer who was not as technically skilled. But that's just me ...

re: 'So You Think You Can Dance' is Back!!

Dany is only technically perfect at some things. He is not, in any way, shape or form, a versitile dancer. I think he is completely overrated by those who praise him. He isn't the best dancer that was ever on the show, as Adam Shankman called him. The best dancers on the show, can handle a variety of routines, really well.

re: 'So You Think You Can Dance' is Back!!

I'm not an expert on dance, but I know what I like when I see it (in all art) and I don't see where Danny lacks feeling or technique.

I also like Neil-especially the way he can bend his back-woo-wee!

re: 'So You Think You Can Dance' is Back!!

Danny is indeed technically perfect at some styles, but he sure isn't versatile. I also don't really feel any emotion from him. I know he'll make the final four, but I personally would not put him there. I was just sad that Cameron was sent home before Dominic. Dominic has grown a bit, but the last two weeks were painful to watch. Personally, I think Neil has grown much more than Dominic. Neil's dancing was quite sloppy in the first half of the season, but he's been taking the judges comments to heart and improving with nearly every routine. I love Pasha, but let's face it, he's this season's Dmitri and he's there to make the girls squeal until the final four.

I'm looking to Lacey or Sabra to win this season. Hopefully Lacey. I can't keep my eyes off her. Sabra's great, but she does not get my emotions rolling the way Lacey does.

re: 'So You Think You Can Dance' is Back!!

My top 4 is Sabra, Lacey, Neil, and Pasha. With that said, the ONLY solo out of those 4 that I actually enjoyed last night was Neil's. Sabra and Lacey's were just boring, and Pasha didn't even dance much at all, he just moved a cape a lot. At this point, Sabra and Neil are the best two left, but I'm still pulling for Lacey.

re: 'So You Think You Can Dance' is Back!!

lacey's solo last night was probably one of the worst from anyone the whole season. and i love her! it seemed like she made that for the first week in case, like they all do, and just never rehearsed it or refreshed it. i felt the same way about kameron's solo last week. oh well, we'll see.

and for all those people that say pasha didn't dance, you're insane. he danced a pasa doble. normally a girl plays the part of the cape during the pasa doble, and the man the matador. he did that, but as a solo with a real cape. more power to him for making his solo a partner dance, but what he did was amazing and powerful and really showed him off. if he did the exact same routine with lacey, everyone would be lauding him rather than saying he didn't dance.

re: 'So You Think You Can Dance' is Back!!

apd, I have to disagree with you about Pasha's solo last night. While he did demonstrate some moves found in a traditional PasO Doble, they were basic and far below his capabilities. He spent a good deal of time manipulating the cape, which, admittedly, is difficult to do, and, though he was shirtless, it was more about showing off a cape than showing off Pasha.

re: 'So You Think You Can Dance' is Back!!

I love Pasha and I think he is an incredible dancer so I in no way put down his dancing ability. But, like DBillyP said, his solo showed off his cape more than it showed his talents off. I may have missed some of his dancing because of the cape, but I still wish him the best of luck.

And same with Lacey. I've loved her since day 1 but her solos just don't work.

It almost seems to me like those who are trained in partner dances should just do their solo from a different style...possibly contemporary for someone such as Lacey. It may not be able to show off their talents as much, but I think it would show off more than what's currently coming through in their solos. But hey, to each his own.

"At this point, Sabra and Neil are the best two left, but I'm still pulling for Lacey."

I agree. Minus the Lacey part re: 'So You Think You Can Dance' is Back!!

Oh well. I do enjoy watching Danny dance. And I dunno, I kinda liked that hip hop, but again that's just me. I definitely don't think he'll win it so there's not much to talk about except what he'll bring in the time remaining.

I freely say how I'm not rooting for Lacey. That being said, however, every season I've seen ballroom dancers and contemporary dancers and hip hop dancers (etc.) dance solos in their own style, which of course is expected, but when it comes down to solos that really don't matter, I would love to see dancers who are exceptional at many different styles to show off that skill. Surprise the viewers a bit. Lacey (back on topic), as much as she's by far not my favorite, is one of the best examples of that yet, and would rise up my list if she showed off some other stuff. Just sayin'. Ballroom solos just don't do it for me. Except some of Benji's.

re: 'So You Think You Can Dance' is Back!!

^Yeah, I will say Benji did at least make some...most of his solos interesting, but he still had some...lacking solos. The problem is that there's really no way to fix this. Partner dancers do better with partners and solo dancers do better in their solos, at least when they must choreograph it themselves. I'd like to see all of them do partner dances followed by each contestant perfroming a choreographed dance in whatever style they draw. I think that might at least help fix the problem.
