"Hungry Jazz Face!!"

Towards the end of "You Can Stop The Beat" the kids looked very tired - like they couldn't quite keep up with the song.

It was still a fun performance, but I dont think they really did the number justice.

Well, for a number they had about a day to rehearse, I think they did exceptionally well.

oh absoluetly.

I am dumbfounded how they can learn full routines in less than 5 hours.

When I think of that Hairspray number, I think of how it's been done before, and a bajillion times better (e.g. Benji and Donyelle, Season 2). Now I'm gonna go watch it on Youtube :)

Good point, CB. I expected, and was hoping for, something so much more.

If I had not been so ticked off last night before posting, I was going to add this thought to my musings:

While I thought the montage of the kids at the "Hairspray" premiere was fun, I was extremely disappointed that the producers chose to send them there in a Hummer limousine. With the number of young people watching the show, this is not the time to be environmentally irresponsible. More than being upset about the judges' random dismissals, this is the topic about which I will send an email to Nigel.

I loved the Harispray clips and the fact that the main cast was there at the show. But I HATED, Hillary Duff's performance. I don't know if I've ever seen someone SO bored onstage while performing, and looking awful. It was absolutely horrid.

I was a little surprised to see Shauna go, but I do understand the reasons and I don't think she would have been there much longer anyway. But I do think Jamie should have gone before her. Jamie even clearly thought she was going last night, her face just looked upset.

It was about time Cedric went home, he's talented, but not up to par with the rest of the dancers.

DISCLAIMER: David has had a lot of wine tonight. He cannot be held responsible for anything he types.

What is Mary Murphy wearing?!? What the h*ll is Wade Robson talking about?!? Life story?!? Spiritual?!? What?!?

Considering that next week partners start changing, I am further convinced that Shauna’s dismissal was because it was Cedric’s time to go. The judges did not want to mess with any of the partnerships a week early, thus they cut a pair rather than splitting the difference. Just a theory ...

Sabra and Dominic (jive): Now that is a partnership! I will be sorry to see them broken up next week. Despite some limitations, these two commit to the dance and to their partner 100 percent. Sabra is a star and my favorite dancer in the bunch.

Jaimie and Hok (Broadway): “He looks Japanese, but he speaks with a British accent.” Ugh. I wish I didn’t find her personality so objectionable because she is a beautiful dancer. Hok is much better than I ever expected him to be. However, I found this number dull, especially having seen “Fosse.”

Sara and Pasha (Jazz): Boy looked good, albeit a little girly, in those jeans. I have said before that I think Pasha is the most versatile ballroom dancer that this show has seen. I think he proved it again tonight. I was glad to see a true “jazz” number, and it was an interesting one. They performed it well. Sara, of whom I am not a fan, did a good job, though I think Pasha overshadowed her on a performance level.

Lauren and Neil (contemporary): (This should be good!) Wow. Although not my favorite Mia Michaels’ routine, that was very well done. This is the first week that I actually liked Neil. He is coming out of a shell and performing with heart, unlike earlier weeks. Lauren has been consistent throughout (except for a solo). Oh, and a nice shot of Neil’s dance belted butt during the preview.

Anya and Danny (foxtrot): I really enjoyed this classically elegant number, and much of that is because of Anya’s classical elegance. She is a delightful performer, and I find myself smiling watching her. Her love of what she does shines through. Like Neil, Danny finally seemed to dance with some heart tonight. Like Wade said, Danny has never moved me; tonight he finally came down to earth and entered the competition. Well done.

Lacey and Kameron (hip hop): For the first time, Kameron stole a number from Lacey. Whenever a dancer sits out an extended section of a number, you know there is a problem. This was not Lacey’s night. (Again, what the h*ll is Wade talking about?!? In the pocket?!?) This was the weakest number of the night.

This is a tough call. There is no telling who will be in the bottom three. America can do funny things (start needless wars, pull funding from uninsured children, keep Cedric safe). I think Lacey and Kameron were the weakest couple tonight, but they have never been in the bottom three, so who knows?!?

Sabra and Dominic were my favorite tonight, and, surprisingly, Lauren and Neil and Anya and Danny complete the top three. That leaves Lacey and Kameron, the weakest of the evening, and Jaimie and Hok and Sara and Pasha as my bottom three. Unfortunately, however, I don’t think anything is clear tonight ... in a good way ... mostly.

Ok, I LOVE Wade as a choreographer, but NOT a judge. I ended up fast forwarding through a lot of his comments because I got sick of them.

Last night was BORING yet again. Absolutely NO performance wowed me at all. NONE. With that being said, Sabra and Dominic and Lacey and Kameron were my two favorites last night. I disagreed a lot with the judges on Lacey and Kameron's performance, I actually enjoyed it, but that's not saying too much from last night. I think everyone is in danger tonight.

And I was SO excited to see another Mia Michaels routine last night, only to be slightly disappointed that it wasn't as good as usual. I still enjoyed the routine, but she has done MUCH better work in the past.

Wade Robson was speaking like an idiot. What happened to a dance being entertaining? All in all, a fairly mediore night, last night; and the bottom three could be anyone. Last night was the first time I ever enjoyed a routine with Danny. Perhaps my favorite of the night.

You beat me to it Liver ... Wade's is for "Ramalama (Bang Bang)," the zombie-inspired group number, and Mia's is for "Calling You," the equisite piece danced by Heidi and Travis on a park bench. I think Mia may walk away a winner.

I didn't even know there were Emmys for choreography. If so, I hope Mia takes it, because that was a brilliant number.

I have two HUGE crushes this season:

1) Kameron - a sexier man has never lived. A very masculine dancer -- even if not a particularly great dancer.

2) Neil - a cuter boy has never done ridiculous dance tricks.

Amen to that, touchme. Amen.

I thought it was a pretty good night, but not entirely exciting.

My hopes/predictions for the bottom three are Sara/Pasha (fun and great song, but slightly blah), Jaimie/Hok (not much character, Jaimie annoys me but dances well), and Lacey/Kameron.

Note on Lacey and Kameron: They won't be in the bottom three, although I think they deserve it. I found that dance to be crude and nasty on another level, but that's what the MTVers like these days. It didn't make Lacey any more appealing to me at all. Kameron was actually pretty good, though, knowing he's been upstaged by Lacey every single dance.

Crap. I don't know what they're going to do.

EDIT: I think the judges made the right decision, given what America left them with. The good news is Jamie will be dancing with Danny now - that'll be an exciting combo :)

Just finished watching. My daughter and I predicted at the start who would go purely based on their dance diversity. Hok just can't keep up with Danny and Neil when it comes to techical training- the same with Anya. However, Anya is a fantastic performer. All I know is I wish there was a dance school in my hometown like the one that produced Travis, Danny, and Jamie. What AMAZING technical and beautiful dancers.

FosseForever, Jamie and Danny may not be dancing together next week because all the couples are being reassigned. That's what happens when they reach the top 10.

As for the Emmy nominations, although I despise Wade, I think his choreo and the overall presentation of 'Rama Lama' should win over Mia's piece. That being said though, I don't know who else is nominated in the Emmy category, so who knows.

A fun opening number ... nothing spectacular, but crowd-pleasing nonetheless.

I don’t think there were any surprises in the bottom three, as it was anyone’s game last night. This is going to be a tough one for the judges.

It, indeed, was a treat finally to have tap featured on the show, though I do wish they would do a traditional, old style tap number. I have to admit that I am not a big fan of this style of tap, likely because I am of an age that we weren’t doing this at the dance studio!

Anya: She is such a great performer. I am just sorry that ballroom solos seem to be so limited.

Danny: Where has the passion that he demonstrated last night and tonight been?!?

Jaimie: This young lady obviously loves to dance, and she does it well. Whatever happens on this show, she has a future in dance.

Hok: He is as good at what he does as anyone else on the show is at what they do. Unfortunately for him, I don’t think it will be enough.

Lauren: A much better solo effort than her last trip to the bottom three. She, truly, was dancing for her life.

Neil: The trickster.

After watching the solos, I think it is easier than I thought. As good as Hok is, he is limited stylistically and will be going home. On the girls’ side, the choice is not as clear, but I think it will be Anya.

Well, I have no qualms with the judges’ decision tonight. I think both choices were the right ones. I am curious where Anya and Hok will be taken by their journeys, more so than many other contestants. Hok’s diverse creativity makes him someone I would want to know, and Anya certainly would be someone to share a bottle of wine with and have a wide-ranging conversation, from international relations to ballroom dance and back!

Oh riiight, you're absolutely right Tag. Next week will be very interesting...I'm curious to see how long the people I don't think should be in the top 10 will last. (DON'T get me wrong. I think we can all agree these guys CAN dance!)

That number that Mia choreographed on the bench was my absolute favorite piece of the entire series. It might actually be my favorite dance I've ever seen. Pure brilliance.

As for last night goes, I was a little disappointed to see Hok go, but it was time. This competition wasn't right for him. And I'm still upset that Jamie is there, but Anya also needed to go.

a great night i thought, overall.

i was a little sad to see mia on the panel as it meant no routine from her, but her comments make up for it! so here goes:

lauren and pasha. who would have thought pasha could do hip-hop? but he totally went gangsta i thought. i loved shane's routine, and i feel that lauren is just blossoming every week. she puts a little more of herself into it and endears herself to me each week more and more. this was not the best routine, but it was totally enjoyable and danced well.

sabra and kameron. by far my favorite couple/dance of the night. tyce's choreo and vision were astounding. i had chills. i think this was by far the best kameron has ever danced, though i do agree that emotionally he could go a little farther, but physically he was there tonight. sabra is flawless technically. her lines are beautiful and she makes it look effortless. BUT, i find her to be too optimistic all the time. i don't know if i've ever seen her serious side. i guess that's not bad, but i'd like her to be more rounded emotionally.

lacey and danny. well, it was alright i guess. i didn't enjoy. i thought it was very campy and they didn't match each other at all. danny was too lyrical for this dance while lacey was too feisty. i thought both lacked any depth and didn't execute the moves as well as they have in the past. i partly blame dmitry, who i thought choreographed horribly (but was happy to see heidi as his assistant).

jaimie and dominic. the routine was just bad. it wasn't a viennese waltz. the music didn't support the dance. dominic was so over-the-top and campy it was laughable. jaimie constantly relies on her lines and extensions, and this danced called for her to be a bit more dirty and gritty (even though a viennese waltz wouldn't, but as said, this wasn't a viennese waltz).

sara and neil. so much fun! the first disco routine i've ever liked on this show. i think sara shows her versatility every week, and really adapts to her partners (jesus, pasha, neil...). neil just is fun to watch because he's so goofy, but so good. they made up in emotions what the other groups lacked. i thought they were spot on.

WADE'S SOLO...

well, i guess i liked the routine itself. i didn't want it to be so literal. i agree with mia that i wanted each dancer to make it their own and i didn't feel that any of them really did. interesting point made by nigel that lauren had such hope at the end. when she was dancing i noticed her choice and thought it was awkward, but that might have been because no one else played it that way. watching it again i liked what she turned the piece into emotionally because it did have an optimistic message rather than the pessimistic one the other dancers portrayed. i felt as if her's looked to the future whereas the rest were telling the story of the past.

i thought sara was the best soloist, however. i thought it was the absolute strongest she has ever danced, showing skills i didn't know she had. i really believed her emotional journey and got goosebumps at her scream and the end of her piece (she just kept walking where everyone else seemed to stop).

for men, i liked kameron the best, but nowhere near how much i liked sara's. it was just i didn't like the choices that some of the other men made and i didn't believe most of them.

if it were me... jaimie would be out for the girls. i thought she was emotionally vacant in both pieces and showed her lack versatility in her wannabe-waltz. either dominic or danny would be out for the boys. danny hasn't knocked off any of the shield for me and dominic hasn't gained the technical skill necessary to stay in the competition. i don't care much for either, and i would think one will go this week, one will go next week. if i had to bet on it, i would say jaimie and dominic.
