Because Walter Hill is doing it.

Personally, I think it's a bad idea all around. The original occupies a distinct space between genuine classic and camp classic that can never be recreated.

And don't forget to cast the Victor Buono role!

Can't wait to hear some ideas.
But they are, Blanche! They are remaking it.

Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

I agree that it's an awful idea to remake it, but if they must I think they should cast two actresses who are feuding in real life (or at least that give the public that perception).

In an extra bad version I would love to see Angelina and Jen go at it, though they are too young. Or give it to Annette Bening and Hilary Swank- with some aging makeup they could both be really good.

If I were legitimately going to cast a remake, I'd go with Sally Field and Glenn Close. They could manage both the camp and the drama.

As for the Victor Buono role ... Jonah Hill.

I know it's ridiculously cliche at this point to say her name because it's mentioned for literally EVERYTHING but if you think about it, how amazing would Streep be as Baby Jane?
