So, the FBI doesn't have enough to do what with ISIS, terrorism, murder, exploited children, etc.
Now they (luckily!!) have to "investigate" thousands of leaked naked celeb photos. Oh, the pain of it all. The pix are milder than PLayboy, 40 yrs ago. I guess only the 12 yr. old boys are salivating. Oh well.
Yes, the security breach is troublesome re: other types of hacking, but, really, these b-z narcissistic celebs are starting to annoy me.
Didn't Anthony Weiner, etc. teach you anything, you dumb twits? Don't post what you don't want your mother to see. Period. You're gonna sue w/taxpayer dollars? Yeesh.
Jane, any thoughts? Well, I guess I'm not to going to buy a smartphone after all. TOO smart. lol.

Why anyone would trust "The Cloud" is beyond comprehension. Freaking buy a couple external drives and back up everything there. Plain and simple.

Tiny, all I can think of to say is how dumb can some people be?
Or, conversely, how smart can they be? They're in the news.

Is it really a sex crime though? There's nothing sexual taking place they're just pictures taken with consent, that's not the same as photos taken without their knowledge or consent. Yes it's invasion of privacy and theft, but a sex crime when no one is underage... I don't think so.
The fact that you need to highlight female victim just makes you look like you value that over a male victim. Nobody is BLAMING them for the leak, they're blaming them for them existing at all. That they were put out in a place that is so easily exploitable. Yes, the guy who did it should go away 100%, but they're stupid for putting themselves in a position to let it happen. And don't try to make a comparison to the "She was asking for it." rape excuse, apples... oranges.

I've heard so much about how this is a problem with how we sexualize women and it seems the media is trying to turn this into a "women's" issue when in reality, it's an issue with online security.
And I am in the camp that thinks that even though it's not "fair", celebrities should not be taking these kinds of photos and storing them anywhere that they could ever be found by a hacker. Should they be allowed to, like everyone else? Sure, why not. But they have to understand that they're not like everyone else and that people are going to be trying to access their secrets. It's one of those trade offs to being rich and famous, I suppose.
And the same goes for celebs like Zac Efron who (thankfully) likes to be naked. He can't turn around and get mad that someone was following him and snapped pics of him when he was outside in the nude. They are ALWAYS going to be followed, either in person or online and that's just the world we live in.

- Tons of people are blaming them for the leak. It's all over the interwebs.
- You seem to be making that comparison by saying"they're stupid for putting themselves in a position to let it happen". Sounds like the "she was wearing a short skirt, she was asking for it" bullsh*t that men say.
This was a sex crime involving theft of property and the exploitation of the female body. The celebrities did nothing wrong, yet they are being blamed for it. This blame the victim mentality is incredibly ignorant and dangerous.

What is the difference between someone hacking into the account and stealing their vacation photos and these? There isn't one. Photos of adults taken with consent are not a sex crime. I'm sorry you feel that it is, but it's not.
I have nudes. I have graphic nudes. If they're hacked by someone and put somewhere, I ****ed up putting them in a place where they could be exploited, but that's the same of any photos I take. That doesn't make it a sex crime. It's theft and invasion of privacy. And can we stop this bull**** of a female issue? When I can find you just as many nudes of male celebrities? I'm sorry that men are more... pervy and thus gets it more coverage and makes them feel dirtier, but you can't use that to differentiate the facts of nude photo leaks.

Since the nudes released were just women, and this thread is ABOUT those nudes specifically, I will address it as a female issue, since we are talking about female people.
"I'm sorry you feel that it is, but it's not."
No need to apologize since I'm not wrong. It's a sex crime because those images were stolen property for the express purpose of titillation and gratification.

But... why does it matter? You were addressing the general attitude about nude leaks which is a problem far beyond being a female one.
No need to apologize since I'm not wrong. It's a sex crime because those images were stolen property for the express purpose of titillation and gratification.
Where was it expressed by the person who obtained them? Because without him saying that... it's the exact opposite of expressed. It's assumed. What people did once getting the pictures, is out of the his hands. You have no way of proving that he did it for the sexual gratification. It's likely, but likely don't win court cases. Sex crime is a legal term, not a buzzword.

I agree with Theatrefan4 and disagree with Sutton, who mistakes "sex crimes", and "sexuality". Nobody is "blaming" these women. We're just calling them "stupid, which is what they are, if the photos were meant" for private use. Don't post them on a PUBLIC server, that's all.
These celebs took some nice selfies...which in of itself is fine by me, I mean, they used to call them French Postcards in the last century. A few were porno-like, but most were lame, or sexy. What these women AND men forget", is that:
NOTHING..
ON.
THE.
INTERNET.
IS.
PRIVATE.
NO.
MATTER.
WHAT.

TheatreFan4, yes I'm aware of legal terms. I had to study a lot of penal law and criminal producure law in order to work with juvenile offenders. I'm very familiar with the terms. I think you are completely wrong, and I think you feel the same way about me. That's fine, but I would like to read this short article, and I would appreciate your feedback on it.

Of course you did, among your multitude of other fake characteristics that are just so applicable to the topics at hand.
That is an opinion piece. There is not anything in that pertaining to actual facts. She is VIEWING it the exact same way you are viewing it, but that does not change the facts of it not being a sex crime. If you can find me a case where a person was charged with a sex crime for leaking nude photos that were taken with consent and the person is OF AGE, then I am ALL EARS, but until you do so you're just shouting to hear yourself talk.

LOL. I love how attacking me, even though I did not attack you, and simply asked you for your opinion, somehow makes sense in your mind. I know the law, and I know it's a sex crime. Just like I know Eric Garner was murdered. Whether or not they charge the people responsible for these crimes is a different thing entirely. But, talking to an incredibly ignorant man about this issue, who lacks perspective on pretty much all of it .... is nothing I want to entertain any longer.

Yes, I did make a mistake in expressing what I meant.
No, Sutton, they did NOT post them on a public server, but they did KNOWINGLY post them on a device, VULNERABLE, to being hacked.
As for women's rights, I was active in the women's rights arena back in the late 60s/70s, probably before you were born (maybe not).
One can be a feminist and also be comfortable with sexuality. They are not mutually exclusive.
As Jane2 well knows, there used to be an expression that our parents used to say to us all the time: "keep your nose clean"! Meaning, don't invite trouble where there isn't any. And don't do **** that might potentially embarrass you.
f course, nowadays, most of this sentiment is lost. Too bad,

Find me a case, Sutton. Just because you say something is a sex crime, doesn't make it a sex crime.
No, you don't know **** about Eric Garner because you weren't there. What is known is that he was killed. Whether it was manslaughter or murder, who knows, but it was certainly police brutality. We know that because we know what happened at the scene, we do not know what was going through the cop's mind at the time.
