Smartpenguin, don't be such a pessimist! The reviews have been excellent so far and the movie including ALL actors has received high praise! Enjoy the movie! re: Star Wars: Episode III

I think Penguin meant the reserved seats.. At least that's what I hope he meant..

re: Star Wars: Episode III

I'm a big Star Wars fan, and I didn't think that Ep II was all that bad...I actually enjoyed it a lot. Ep I was just really bad though...I thought it was extremely boring and things just seemed really far-fetched at times. Does anyone remember the opening scenes of Ep 1 when Obi and Qui Gon were locked in that room with the poison gas. Okay they used their lightsabers to sorta "melt" the door to get out. If lightsabers could do that, why didn't Luke do that to get them out of the trash-compactor room in Ep IV? Anyway...that's just something that always bothered me.

re: Star Wars: Episode III

Well that early in Episode IV its possible Luke just didn't know a lightsaber could do that, I mean he probably thought of it as out of date old weapon at that point. Not that that makes much of Phantom Menace make any sense, it is by far my least favorite.

I apologize for the misunderstanding, penguin. re: Star Wars: Episode III

And a good point raised by aliceripleysnumber1. But then again, I was never a huge Luke fan anyway, maybe he just wasn't skilled enough to use the lighsaber re: Star Wars: Episode III Still, excellent point!

Yep QM the one and only Han Solo was the brains and brawn of the two of them from the very beginning.

*crosses fingers* I'm working on getting into the midnight showing, but it's looking like it'll be Thursday afternoon instead. Will I lose my geek status if I don't see the first show?

And Nia, I'll still love you even if you don't make it into the Thursday midnight screening... I'll just love you a bit less! re: Star Wars: Episode III

re: Star Wars: Episode III

I kind of feel like I should turn in my Star Wars Freak badge for breaking my record of having seen every Star Wars movie at midnight on opening day (if you count the rereleases in '97). I just don't feel up to standing in line for hours to make sure I get the best seats possible not to mention that I have to work the next day. I'm such a grown up! I will see it on Friday though as Penguin said, the tickets are bought and the seats are reserved!

re: Star Wars: Episode III

Here's the thing with me and Star wars:

when I was 6 years old, I watched one of the original movies, and because at 6 years old I scared easily, I mean REALLY easily, I had nightmares for like 3 days about Yoda. Creeped the crap out of me. Now, 8 years later, and watching the newer versions, I'm so-so about it. I never was really a sci-fi fan at all, but I do have to giove props to the special effects and such. I dunno, I just didn't really like the script of the movie. Script... that's probably not the right term, but I'm not sure how to explain it.

And I'm pretty flexible, and I think that some movies can be saved by good actors. But Hayden Christensen just didn't do it for me. I thought Ewan McGregor and Natalie Portman did really well with what they had to work with. (of course, this is coming from a Ewan whore, but come on now, everything he does is great).

And, there was something about Episode 2..... don't get me wrong, I think love stories are great, especially when portrayed well in a movie, but the love story going on in this movie just didn't suit me. Dunno why, maybe I'm just picky.

That being said, I will most most definately be seeing Episode 3 because I hear that it's really good, and I must give my support to Ewan.

And that is the end of my life story. Sorry it's so long re: Star Wars: Episode III

re: Star Wars: Episode III

Yes, Ewan whores think alike, Sally. :)
I think that Hayden and Natalie are both good actors, but the combination of the hard-to-work-with script and the fact that Hayden and Natalie are so new to the acting business really turned me off to the dialogue part of Episode II.

Hey! I just saw that Pepsi ad where a guy is in a diner and Yoda tries to take his diet Pepsi. Anyone seen it too? It's hilarious!

re: Star Wars: Episode III

I have seen it, it is funny. I must say it is Lucas' lack of proper emphasis on directing actors that make that part of the films so bad. He is great with the effects and big story but dialogue and character development. ugh.
I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.
#49

re: Star Wars: Episode III

I agree to that in regards to the prequels, but I think the character development in the original trilogy was fabulous. It was funny and the characters were natural and likeable. :)

re: Star Wars: Episode III

Yes but the Episode Four was directed before Lucas lost it, he was still in fine American Graffiti form. But he did not write the story or direct again until Episode One.
I was really kind of hoping they would bring in the writer and director of The Empire Strikes Back for this film, since they are the two that are most closely matched.
I'm still thinking there is a good chance Revenge of the Sith will make up for the last two's shortcomings.
