From respiratory failure. She was 70. She had cancer in the past, and had chemo for it.

Okay, this sucks. Damn.
I remember that her voice had reached a very low register, from smoking probably. I thought she was gorgeous.

I adored her. From The Birds through The Bob Newhart Show, to her brilliant portrayal of Leona Helmsley, loved everything I ever saw her do.

Oh my god. This is terrible. You will be sorely missed, Suzanne!
2008 is not starting out on a very good note.
That's sad. She was wonderful in "The Birds."

No, no, no!!!! OMG! I don't believe it! My heart goes out to her family and loved ones for this loss. She's entertained me for years with her undeniable talent. R.I.P.
Before she gets pecked to death in The Birds.
She was married, for eight months, to Troy Donahue, with whom she costarred in Rome Adventure. Their brief marriage ended "acrimoniously."

Rome Adventure was one of the most beautiful films I ever saw. It wasn't much more than a travelogue, but I loved it. Bought the soundtrack for the romantic music!

Witty quote from Ms. Pleshette courtesy of imdb:
"On her "girl next door" image": "When Warren Beatty called a girl up, it was usually to try to get her into the sack. But he called me to find out what kind of bologna I used. I just don't have what it takes, I guess. Raquel Welch has what it takes. She's so sexy and gorgeous, even I want to jump on her!"
You had what it takes Ms. Pleshette...and then some!

my first memories of her were from those old disney movies like the ugly dachshund and the adventures of bullwhip griffin. I loved those movies as a kid.... she was a treasure....

Jane2 it is so ironic you mentioned the soundtrack to ROME ADVENTURE as I am sitting here listening to it as I type this. A lush, beautiful Max Steiner score.
FYI: She wasn't the first choice for ROME ADVENTURE. It was first offered to Natalie Wood, who declined it. Jack Warner was so upset he placed her on suspension and then gave the part to Suzanne Pleshette, who was lovely in it.
RetroBoy- When I bought that soundtrack, it was on an actual record! You know, those old lp's. Did you get it on a cd?
thanks for the info!
I just remembered a scene from Rome Adventure-they were in a dark cabaret style place for dinner, and a guy was singing "Al Di La", which is a gorgeous love song. Pleshette and Donahue, who were stunning on the eyes, were in love. He explains the meaning of the song to her. You could die! When I hear Al Di La, I could cry.
Didn't anyone else see this film????

I've seen it, countless times. Angie Dickinson was such a b-i-t-c-h in this (but I loved her as well). I'm on my third listen of "Al Li Da" sung by Emilio Pericoli.
