Pleshette Treated for Lung Cancer

LOS ANGELES - Actress Suzanne Pleshette is undergoing chemotherapy for lung cancer that was caught at an early stage, her agent said Friday.
The cancer, discovered during a routine X-ray, is the size of "a grain of sand and was caught very much in time," said agent Joel Dean. "She feels very lucky. ... She's not concerned and in great spirits."
Pleshette, 69, is receiving chemotherapy as an outpatient at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where the cancer was diagnosed, he said.
The actress is best known for her role in "The Bob Newhart Show," the 1970s comedy in which she played Newhart's sardonic wife, Emily. Her extensive TV credits include "8 Simple Rules" and "Will & Grace," and her throaty voice has been heard in "Spirited Away" and other recent animated films.
Her films include "If It's Tuesday This Must Be Belgium" and "Oh God! Book II."
Pleshette and Tom Poston, 84, who costarred with her on "The Bob Newhart Show," were married in 2001.
I wish her the best, tough diagnosis. I didn't know she married Tom Poston.
She was in the very first show I ever saw on Broadway, THE MIRACLE WORKER. She has been special to me, since. I wish her the best.

I love Ms. Pleshette, and as someone who lost a parent to lung cancer, I can only hope that her chemo goes assuccessfully and painless as possible.
She's a nice woman and a good actress.
Apart from "The Birds", she is in the funny "If It's Tuesday, It Must Be Belgium" from 1969 and NOT on DVD. . .
It's also a Peggy Cass vehicle.

She was SO exquisite when she was younger (i.e. The Birds). I love her speaking voice. Best of luck to Suzanne and her family.
F*#@king cancer.
So strange. We were just talking about her tonight. I have always loved her. She was in a made for TV movie called "A Stranger Waits" that I loved when I was younger. Here's hoping that she has a speeding recovery.

I always thought she looked like Elizabeth Taylor. Those blue-eyed, dark haired women were always so gorgeous to me...Taylor, Suzanne Pleshette, Morgan Brittany, etc.

She was married to Troy Donahue back in the sixties.
I remember her from a bunch of Disney films as well as "The Birds" and of course "Bob Newhart".
She also played Leona Helmsley in the TV movie, "The Queen of Mean".
Such a talented actress. One of my favorite moments in television history is the series finale of Newhart. She made a surprising guest appearance in the last couple minutes, and for those of you who remember, you know how brilliant and funny that was.
Oh yeah... when the whole series turned out to be a dream. I had forgotten that.
I've seen The Ugly Dachshund way more times than I should ever admit.
Hope Suzanne gets back to 100% soon.

Ms Pleshette has always represented beauty, grace & sophistication...i wish her well!!!!
I HOPE she does well. It's just such a difficult diagnosis and most of the tx's have far reaching complications. I wish her well.
Sending love, light and energy this phenomenal lady. I loved her on a short-lived show called Nightingales about rough ladies from the streets (i.e hookers, strippers, drug dealers) who could become nurses instead of going to jail. It was prime-time joy for a gay boy. Love ya, Suzanne! Hang tough, sister!
That is sad news but, not terribly surprising given the fact that she is a life long smoker. She's also a tough old broad. If anyone can come through this, it's Suzanne. Hopefully, the treatment will have a positive effect.
I've always wanted to see Dixie: Changing Habits with her and Cloris Leachman, but I don't think its on tv much.

Dear Mamma,
May this be your most successful con of all!
Your daughter, Karen
Ps. Where do you think I got the rack, boys?
She is so sexy in The Bob Newhart Show - I've been watching the first 3 seasons on DVD and she is wonderful. However, another typical TV example of a meeskite marrying a total babe.
Pianoman: I don't want to turn your comment into a threadjack--
(sending all my positive thoughts to the stylish, funny and sexy Ms. Pleshette)
but at least Bob Newhart's really remarkable wit and humour make Bob and Emily's romance plausible. How a moronic boor like Ray Romano is supposed to hold on to Patricia Heaton (without actual physical restraints) is more puzzling. It's all just the endless recycling of Ralph and Alice, I guess.
Sure, he had wit, but let's face it, Bob is the straight man on that show. I think he came across as a wet blanket more so that the life of the party. Bob Hartley must've been great in bed and well endowed to snag a babe like Emily.

Let's not forget that he was DOCTOR Bob and she was a school teacher. She landed herself a Doctor and they lived mighty well in an upscale Chicago high rise.

I remember asking my mom, when I was a kid sometime in the 60s/70s, who she regarded as the most beautiful woman in the world. She said Suzanne Pleshette. Since then, the lovely Ms. Pleshette has occupied a profound and permanent place in my concept of womanly beauty.
Any news about how she's doing?
