Oh, oh, oh.... Yaaaaaaaay!!!!
Next Up -
Maria Tallchief appears at Anna Pavlova.
I'm there!
(I just wished they'd picked another leading man. I've never been fan of Victor Mature's)
Sorry Mamie.
Who would you have seen in the role?
When I moved to NYC in 1975 I went to a double feature at the Regency. It was Million Dollar Mermaid and The Harvey Girls.
Wow - I didn't realize that Anette Kellerman invented the unitard!
It could have been almost anyone, Glebby. When I was very, very tiny I remember going to a film with my mother. When he came on the screen I told my mom that he made my face hurt. He still does. I think there's something about his face that looks like all the muscles are being compressed and I have hard time looking at him! (I know it's silly - but there you are!)
Ooops - sorry. I knew that was going to get posted twice.
I'll bet that's Maria
edit - it is. That always makes me cry.
I liked her acting and it's got to be Balanchine who choreographed that for her.
Yay! Home in time for some Fred and Ginger!

Dr. Zhivago.
Prikrasna!
She was never lovelier! (And that's saying a lot because she's gorgeous.)
I just watched this on New Year's Day! And on the new hi-def TV. What a great film. It always "sweeps me away."
And Julie is mesmerizing.
Tanny really enjoyed Dr. Zhivago.
Now I'm introducing her to -

I'm awfully sad, because now that I am home (and no longer living in a hotel), I don't have TCM. *sigh*
Of course, I love being home, though!
Cool av, Erika!
I just don't think I could enjoy TV anymore without TCM. It's the only thing that's regularly on my television. My second favorite film in the world (The Caine Mutiny) was just on and Sweet Smell of Success is on now. Neither have a story that particularly interest me, but both productions could be used when demonstrating HOW to act. They just knock my socks off!
OK, I was totally confused about what this thread was.
I was saying to myself, THOROUGHLY CODERN MILLIE? THE CITTLE MERMAID? THE CAPEMAN?

Mamie: Thanks so much! And trust me, I don't enjoy TV so much anymore.
Sorry Erika.
I didn't have TCM for many years in Chicago and I hardly watched TV.
In the mean time for those who have TCM -
"The Matchmaker" up in about ten mins.
I haven't seen this in so many years! I forgot that Anthony Perkins and Robert Morse were Cornelius and Barnaby. Tony is so cute!
This is good Mamie!
