Ok, I have been bashing Taylor for some time. I bought her new new CD "Red" to give her an honest listen.
The verdict-she is an exceptional songwriter who hopefully will mature into something special. She is very gifted and poetic, but her songs are a little cloying and she wears her heart to close to her sleeve right now. She writes like a 20 year old.
She is missing the wordplay and depth of a Mary Chapin Carpenter. I think that she hopefully will mature into a more nuanced song writer. She is quite good though.
I hope she works on her voice though. She still can't replicate her lovely tones live. That sucks.

What I like also like about Taylor is that she is talented song-writer and musician. She NEVER has to rely on good looks to achieve success in music or go on a certain karaoke competition like any of these people did pictured below. It is especially ridiculous that teenagers and moms think that the person in the first picture is the future of music.
No one of these three people would be ANYWHERE in life if it were not for their looks.

Even that one in the middle?
She is so bland she makes Sutton Foster seem edgy
I'd take all of those guys vocally over Taylor. Her songwriting is good but I didn't really have a problem with those guys winning Idol (except Kris over Adam, but he is talented).
I don't think she's bland. She's just not uber-provocative. She writes about love and loss in a way that is meaningful and palatable and real. She isn't singing about how wet she is or how much she is going to drink.
She is relatable to most young women (and young gay men.)

"Even that one in the middle?"
^ I went to the CMAs in 2011. The person in the middle had many women and girls screaming for him.
My friend also invited me to a concert tour consisting of reality TV singers like these, but I only went because I wanted to support a very talented singer named James Durbin, who has Asperger's and Tourette Syndrome and was an excellent role model for people like me. Many of those ditzy women were in the audience as well.

She doesn't really bother me. I think her music is forgettable but I think she's kind of funny when she's on Ellen. There's something Uncanny Valley about her, though.
I definitely see the uncanny valley eyes.
beautywickedlover, I think you're confusing Scotty McCreery with James Durbin who has Tourettes and Aspergers. Same season but incredibly different performers, Durbin did not do much country IIRC.

^ I know the names of the two people and the fact that they are completely different. I should have been more clear in my post. Sorry. I've known who both of them are for the last year-and-a-half. I did not want to go to the concert for any other reason that to support Durbin.

Oh so you went to the American Idol concert. It originally read as though you sat at the CMA live broadcast to see McCreery.
But honestly for all the girls crazy for any guy with a guitar on Idol, I know plenty of crazed female T-Swift fans who live by her every word. I find it a little scarier to be around, it's more substantive.
^and scene.
She's annoying. I have never liked her as I think a musician should be able to sing live.
I was amazed to learn so was only twenty, I always thought she was in her thirties. That new song ( well I think the only one I have heard ) something about my boyfriend, telling something is beyond awful. Sounds like it was written by a six year old.
I don't get her at all. I never got Natalie Portman either and she has an Oscar. Ever read Donald Trump's twitter? He's got something nasty to say about everything and everyone, except himself and Taylor Swift.
I just can't imagine buying an album of the same songs. All her songs sound the same to me. She's prob a nice girl, but there's far more talented musicians out there that deserve to be recognized.
When citing people who should not be where they due to other more talented folks, Taylor Swift should not be at the top of the hit list. Her voice is weak, but she can sing, she writes her own stuff and can play instruments.
It's funny how vehemently people go after her and ignore the entire pop canon right now of which no one can sing, write a song or play instrument. They just look good grabbing their breasts and poledancing while auto tuned.
She's written about one and a half songs (lyrically and musically) and somehow has managed to fill 3 albums with 15 or so variations of it.
I think people are more interested in gossiping about who she's whining about than her actual music.
Nope. I go after all of the sh*tty "artists" equally, but most one can ignore. She's EVERYWHERE.

As I mentioned earlier I have seen her perform live twice, once on her Fearless Tour and the other time was at the CMAs. She may not be a powerhouse singer like Adele or Celine Dion, but she does have a good voice.
I think she's okay, but there's something about her that's a touch, I dunno...evil. I think John Mayer was right to feel aggrieved after she humiliated him through song - I also felt bad for little Taylor Lautner when the camera kept cutting to him as she sang Never Ever Getting Back Together at the VMAs.
He was probs thinking "I don't even WANT to get back with you, you pyschotic b**ch!".

Nah, he was probably thinking of the DL gay sex he was gonna have later.
...and now I'm thinking of it too.
Something about his nose is weird. Like he's almost really hot, but then I can't help but focus on his nose and that's it.
Wouldn't kick him out of bed mind you.....
