It's Juno weekend here in Halifax, the city has been taken over by musicians! It's fabulous. I'm trying to get some friends together to go out tonight... we're bound to run into somebody famous!
The actual awards show is going to be crazy. Set to perform are Michael Bublé, Bryan Adams, Hedley, Nickelback, Coldplay, Broken Social Scene, Black Eyed Peas, Buck 65, Divine Brown, Massari, and Bedouin Soundclash. Pamela Anderson is hosting this year.
Reading the Spotlight section of the newspaper this morning was so exciting. There's a charity hockey game going on this evening feauturing musicians and NHL players... a Songwriters Circle, meet and greet for fans, art shows featuring album art...
Check out the nominees on the site linked below. I have a feeling Michael Bublé is the man to beat this year!

Eh, it could be worse Allie.
You could live in...upstate New York! eek!
I might actually watch this year. That lineup looks good and diverse. Hopefully Pam isn't going to be as annoying as she is in the commercials.

Ugh, it's an awful commercial.
Only seven awards are being presented in the actual broadcast. Do they do that every year? There's a gala tomorrow night where the majority get handed out.

BUMP for the broadcast! Starting now! Buck 65's rapping the intro.
Good Lord, Pam Anderson's making seal clubbing jokes already. Quelle surprise.

Oh my GOD, Michael Bublé is one gorgeous man. He just hugged Bryan Adams, and it was hot.

Kalan Porter gets more and more feminine-looking every time I see him. And he is SKINNY. Eek.

Seriously! He looks like a mixture of Michael Jackson and Nicole Richie. Scary.
I would have liked Feist to win. Yay Broken Social Scene!

LOVE LOVE LOVE Broken Social Scene! I first heard them on Queer as Folk, actually, and loved them ever since.
Hurry up and bring on the Bryan Adams tribute!!!

That was great! BSS are like an ode to CanIndie which I love.
Amy of Stars is one of my favourite singers. She was rocking it out. Plus, I love Feist.

There is nobody like Bryan Adams.
Did anyone catch exactly what Chris Martin said about being aroused when Bryan Adams hugged him? I want to quote it, but I didn't catch the whole thing!

Wow, Arcade Fire won Songwriter of the Year... I really thought Joel Plaskett had that one this year. And they're not even there! Pfft. Give it to Joel!

No! I love Arcade Fire.
GBS + Feist = hot!
Massarri needs to leave Canada and never come back. Seriously, that was painful. That kid couldn't ennunciate a word if he tried, plus he had to sing along to a prerecorded vocal track. Also, no one wants to see your stomach Massarri.
Divine Brown was great. But I wish she could have sang Seasons of Love and nailed the double high D. The note she held for forever was kind of random.
Oh, and that thing I said about Massarri and leaving Canada, it apllies for both Nickelback and Simple Plan.

MarkCohen, I am honestly shocked that Bublé didn't win that! He's had such an amazing year... and been EVERYWHERE. Did you hear those earsplitting screams from the crowd when his name was called? Seriously, this is Bublé's year. BOO Simple Plan.
