What if you dunk the cheese danish in it?

Uh oh, we're into fuzzy math now. You know, the kind favored by our current administration.
I'd still put black coffee at 0 and the cheese danish somewhere between 0 and 9 billion.

Oh dear. I do believe it may been at least 30 points (it was THAT good). I'll have to give up the coffee. re: The BWW Weight Watchers Club

That's great news Undi! Are you doing anything with your water to mix that up a bit too? Lime or lemon wedge? Low impact and low intensity to start off with... like yoga. then take it up a notch!

I had a good experience with South Beach...last year I lost about fifteen pounds in a little over a month (I excercised alot, too). I've been trying to get back into it, but damn it's hard, losing the initial novelty of trying a new diet...those first two weeks, ugh!
By the way, my mom was a dietitian who was VERY wary of fad diets, she read the South Beach book and totally approved.
If I could just get myself to excercise NOW.....

It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

Borstalboy--I am (for the most part) combining South Beach with WW to good success. :) South Beach is great.

Here's the trick to weight loss (or any life change, for that matter) -- you have to stop doing what you don't want to do, find out what emotional problems made you start doing that, face them, and change the behavior -- never to return.

I don't know anyone who has been able to keep weight off without doing that.

I've always seen South Beach as the "smartest" of the fad diets, because in essence, it's mostly about portion control. And leads one towards healthier eating. In terms of getting the "proper" amount of all the goodies your body needs. And combining it with WW makes more sense, as WW doesn't do the whole "all or nothing approach" of elminating all the "treats" from your diet. That's setting oneself up for failure to do so...

Today is day 3 on Atkins and I've fallen off the wagon. (Shanghai dim sum? Yum!) Someone please give me some support here! I feel as though after eating 5 dumplings this morning, then a bag of chips and some taffy won't kill me either. I need to stop! (And yes, I know Atkins isn't healthy, but after losing 25 lbs. on it in three months last year, I'll admit this is purely vanity-driven by me getting sick of people calling me fat, arteries and cholesterol be damned.)

how many points is that, Tiffy? re: The BWW Weight Watchers Club

Don't forget your multivitamins (I hope you got yours, Undi!). If you're already doing really well without relying on the point system, I say don't make the jump over to using them. You're subconsciously checking yourself as it is, without having to give into the temptation that the points system might lead you towards....

I'm contemplating purchasing the "Carb Cheater" starter kit, subsequent pills and milkshake meal replacement shake. Has anyone heard anything about it?

My update: so far lost 14 pounds; bought a pair of waist 32 pants (first time in about 3 years), and the large shirts were too big... yay! I've got like 5 or 6 more to go, and hitting the gym to tone it all up. re: The BWW Weight Watchers Club

Down six pounds from the beginning of the summer. (cheers for self) The weight isn't melting off any too quickly, but weight lost quickly is weight gained back quickly anyway, and I'm in no hurry. Plus, I've been drinking so much water and eating so many fruits/veggies that my body is starting to crave them if I don't get enough... yay. re: The BWW Weight Watchers Club

Everyone is doing so great...congrats.

CostumeMistress, you bring up a great point...weight loss isn't a race! In the past, I've given up when the weight wasn't falling off instantly. It's discouraging.

I've been on WW for just over 2 years. I lost a majority of my weight the first year, when I was more gung-ho and faithful to the plan. I haven't really followed as well as I should have this past year or so, but I haven't gained, really. A couple of pounds maybe, but I've basically stayed the same.

I'd like to lose about 20 more, but the most important thing WW taught me is portion control and healthier substitutions (ie Jerby's nacho recipe). In all, I've lost 53 lbs on WW so I have NO complaints.

quick and easy weight loss isn't safe at all. It's the yo-yo effect. Not to mention, you want your body to get used to your own changes in how you're treating it. In terms of the new portions. Or eating more frequently with even smaller portions. Or a greater intake of water. And etc.

Ugh, I would have to stumble upon this thread while eating a GINORMOUS bowl of cereal.

Hmmm, I may have to join in on this.

I've picked up some extra weight over the last few years and I find myself in this rut that I am having a really tough time getting out of when it comes to food.

Perhaps weight watchers is the thing for me...

That sounds yucky! And I bet the weight doesn't stay off.

btw--I've lost ten pounds on WW.

And, I am VERY naughty on WW--though keeping in line with the point limits.

There was a long-term national study released around December 2004 that examined a TON of different diets over the long term. And only one diet program came up with the goods all around -- Weight Watchers.

It's a great diet, and people who do it keep the weight off.

congrats jerby. the cabbage soup diet is actually pretty good. you can only do it for one week at a time though since it is very low in complex carbs, protein, vitamins and minerals to continue for two long. it recommends one week on, two weeks off.

it has a great soup that you can eat as much as you want of every day. lots of vegs., fruits, some meat, skim milk and unsweetened tea, cran. juice and water.

I'd never try it, but I know people who have done the cabbage soup diet. Let's just say it involves a lot of cramping, bloating, gas, and let your imagination run wild.

I know 2 seriously obese people who have lost loads of weight (and still losing more) following the South Beach Diet.
