And you do have to allow for "slippage" (that doesn't sound right), otherwise, you set yourself up for failure in terms of cutting out ALL "bad" food. Even if you just want a bit, ask if they can do "half" orders of stuff. In the end, a lot of s is about portion control...

Oh, and yay for the loss!

JRB - good for you. My 80 year old law partner told me that I am "porking out a little." So, more discipline is needed.

I go tomorrow. I've been sick all week.

The plus:

No appetite

The negative:

No working out

Tasti D is soooo sinless!

4 oz is 0 points!!!!

So, to be safe, I count a small as 1 point, a med as 2, and a large as 3.

It's heaven on earth!!!!

So, I had a NAUGHTY week. Tons of ice cream--I barely stayed within my weekly points. I thought for sure I would gain weight.

Nope--lost weight. And, what's even better is the feeling that on Monday--I can start anew no matter what happened the week before. So, if I HAD blown it, I could just relax and pick back up.

Now, I wonder if I have some more Ben & Jerry's in the freezer...

jrb, I think it's amazing you still lose weight while drinking. Do you mind if I ask how much beer you drink weekly? That's my problem. I'm a college student, and uh...I have a lot of trouble cutting down on drinks. They are SO many calories!

Well, I don't drink often really. But the first week I did WW, I drank prob 4 lite beers or so over two nights. A bottle of lite beer is 2 points. A shot of hard liquor is usually 2 points, so I could do whiskey or rum and Diet Coke, too.

And, as for ice cream--Tasti D Lite is a blessing. You could eat it every day! When eating reg ice cream, I never had more than half a cup in a day. I did eat a pint of Ben & Jerry's Half Baked Frozen Yogurt (16 points) last Monday. That was the naughtiest in one day that I have been.

And, I still lost weight this past week!

I am going to behave better this week and see if I can lose a lil more than this week's. But, hey--I'm willing to do this slowly if it means

1. it will stay off
2. I can eat anything I want!

Okay, thanks! I could definitely live with that amount.
Rum and diet coke...yum.

I've never tried Tasti D Lite. I'm excited about it, though!

Wow, I'm late..um..

I went on Atkins (as a 12 year old) and lost 17 pounds in the first month. It was pretty amazing. I quit after 2 1/2 months. Gained weight back...until this year in May I met somebody...and now I had somebody that I wanted to look good for. I took kind of a...dramatic step in losing weight. I officially cut out breakfast (I never ate it anyway), I cut out all drinks but water (I only drank orange juice other than water--and I was drinking WAY too much), I ate healthy at lunch--peanut butter and jelly sandwich on wheat bread and for dinner I'd have a Lean Cuisine. I don't think I worked out..

I lost 20 pounds in a month. I weighed the less at the end of the month than I did at the beginning of my Atkins diet in 7th grade. (That's over 2 years).

I'm getting back on to a diet right now, working out and whatnot. I still drink nothing but water (it's been over 3 months). With school starting in a week from today, I'll be able to eat a healthy lunch at school as opposed to having nothing healthy to eat (like at home). I have a good feeling about this school year re: The BWW Weight Watchers Club.

"I officially cut out breakfast"

Not a good idea. Skipping meals, especially breakfast, screws up your metabolism. If time is an issue, you should at least drink a health shake or something.

Although at your age, and judging by your photo, dieting too much is not a good idea, anyway. Seriously. I'm not saying you shouldn't eat healthy. But don't obsess about it.

I'll reiterate what I think is really the basis of WW, as well as just any good diet anyway (for the record, the word diet is so incorrectly defined; it really just means your eating lifestyle): portion control.
Just don't pig out. I'm amazed at myself now when I go out to eat and look at all the food on my plate and wonder how I could eat like that two or three times a day.
And I'll back up Calvin, too, don't skip a meal, your body needs to get cracking in the morning and you want to kick your metabolism into gear in the morning.

And when you do skip a meal, and you feel you can make up for it by eating more the next time, you're not really compensating. When your body enters a state of semi-starvation, your metabolism slows down. Which is why you're supposed to eat breakfast because you are breaking that stage of semi-starvation (hence the term break fast). However, eating more frequently, but in smaller amounts helps your metabolism.

But I'm not hungry in the morning. I used to eat breakfast just because it was part of my eating routine...for a while. I ate when I had time, even if I wasn't hungry. When I stopped eating breakfast, I started being able to concentrate better in class.

I've been noticing-I do a lot of eating out of boredem/routine. I should just eat when I'm hungry.

I'll jump aboard - is this really for people on WW or just people watching their weight? I've never considered WW though and y'all have me wondering if I should sign up online. Paying to go on a diet seems a little odd to me though. Are you paying them to teach you their methodology? What exactly are you paying for?

I've never really struggled w/ my weight until the past few years, where I unintentionally yo-yo. Weight would just come and go and I had no control over it really. Never been on a 'diet' per se, just sort of watched what I ate (less fast food, more greens, no snacks, etc). I was never really into sweets so that's not as much of an issue for me now.

Right now I'd like to lose about 20lbs, which would bring me to my HS weight, which I haven't weighed since, well, HS. I'd like to think that is realistic as that would be in my target BMI of about 21-22.

Finally joined a gym and have been going for at least an hour for at least 4 days a week since the beginning of the month (sooooo long ago). Since I've never really worked out before, I signed up for www.freetrainers.com which sets my workout routine each week. I'm know I'm being impulsive here, but hearing how people have lost weight in 1 week, has gotten me a little anxious! My weight has been standing still this whole time - I thought I'd at least see a few pounds shed. I do feel sore (today a little TOO sore), so I guess that's a good thing, but I wonder how long it'll take for me to see results. I'd like to blame the 2 weddings that I had the past 2 weekends (lousy timing) for my lack of results, though I'm sure I'm just being impulsive. Oh, and I'm drinking 6-7 pints of water a day. Kinda liking that actually.

For you pros out there, is there anything specifically wrong w/ my plan? I don't think my eating is particularly out of control. I think it was more my sedentary lifestyle (that I'm trying to change w/ the gym) that was putting on the lbs. Is a bowl of ice cream doing more damage than I think? Do I have to eat spinach for the rest of my life?

I'm certainly no pro, but I have to remind lots of people that just gauging "weight" may never be an accurate measure of "loss" especially if you're going to a gym and using a trainer. Whatever "losses" in weight you're getting, you could also be "gaining" in muscle. And it may take a little longer than a month to see "quick" results. Keep going and don't stop trying!

This thread is primarily for people on Weight Watchers.

The online program has all kinds of info, recipes, message boards, advice, etc. but it's the Point Tracker that is the best. It keeps track of your food through out the day as you input it. It keeps you informed of what amount of food you can enjoy for the day (keeping in mind that you get weekly points to use when you want to go over).

It also has a weight tracker that features a cool graph of your progress.

And, Cookie (who has a gorgeous body) is right--working out can affect "weight loss" because muscle weighs more than fat, etc.

depends upon what you put in it, Blue. Coffee's calorie-free by itself.
