Hm, did the board eat my last post? Okay then -
How's everyone doing?
I can now say that I'm a full 100 lbs. lighter than I was at my heaviest weight, which feels beyond great. Just a bit more to go, and then the battle is maintaining. Just goes to show you -- no one's a hopeless case. Hopefully you're all having continued success.

How we doing, folks? Holidays about to hit!
A year ago, I gained about 18 pounds. Since then, I have lost 20 as of today!
So, there's proof that even if you slide all the way back to start, you can reboot and get back to where you were---and then some. I am farther along than ever and not stopping now.

Well done to those of you sticking it out, and best of luck to those who are just getting back on track. I'm glad this thread made a comeback. It's comforting to know that I'm not going through this alone.
I've been off program for a while now. But I've been doing my best to stay on track and have kept the weight off. I made it through Christmas and gained less than a pound, so I'm happy. The secret of my success, though, is not will power. It's Wii Fit. Aerobics, yoga, strength training, and balance practice all in one handy little game. I'd recommend it to anyone.

I highly recommend getting sick during Christmas. I lost over 4 pounds these last temptation filled weeks. However, I'm sure some of it will ounce back, especially with New Year's naughtiness in store.
But, seriously, my key to surviving holiday parties and holidays was to save all my weekly points for those events and stay on target the rest of the week. I basically could eat whatever I wanted at a party and still lose weight or maintain that week if I did so.
It did require taking a good look at each week as it began so that I could budget myself to commit to that.
But regardless, we get a new year to refresh and refocus and start anew--building good, positive habits. :)

Whoa Tom's Cat. That's not healthy at all. Slow down.
But... I absolutely gained most of my weight back. I know the DAY it started happening. I was in Tennessee for a week. Not cool. I am not happy about it, but I am getting back on track. (My girlfriend said if it was up to her I would never lose a pound, but she wants me to be healthy and feel good about myself. She's kind of amazing.)
I am reading Skinny Bitch. I have given up beef and pork. I haven't had chicken in over a week. You won't want ANY meat after reading this. I am just going with seafood now. I may eventually give that up, too. I could go veggie. I am doing more organics and making smarter choices.

Nope - I've done this before. Almost 8 lbs came off the first 2 weeks and it's averaged around a pound or two each week after that. The first two weeks was primarily retained water-weight. (I'm a salt-aholic.) WW's makes you drink lots of water each day and that helps flush that retained water weight right out of your system. Of course, once it's gone you're left with actual FAT to lose, so it all slows down. In the meantime, the joints feel better and the blood pressure has gone down.
It's been about 7 weeks since I started.

I've been struggling to get started, it has not been pretty.
I am playing Lucy in a regional production of "Jekyll & Hyde", the costume I'll be wearing for "Bring on the Men" is eerily similiar to the "Good 'N Evil" costume, and when I saw the costumers sketches and that hi-cut leo and corset I FLIPPED. The idea of my thighs being photographed in that outfit is freaking me out. So, I start trying to drop some lbs and tone up. I have been so horribly unsuccessful. Where as my weight has been relatively stable for the past two years, as soon as I started trying to lose weight I've actually been managing to gain it instead!
UGH!
I don't know what my problem is. I just can't stop eating too much of everything I am not supposed to be having.

I've lost about 25 pounds doing WW again, but am currently sliding back a pound or 3 because I'm not counting points and I'm playing with fire by not staying within a structure. And, I need structure--esp around chocolate.
So, let's all get regrouped and refocused! Summer is coming!!

Posted: 2/25/09 at 7:10pmI thought I was doing pretty good this week but I took a glance at the scales tonight and it looks like a GAINED this week. I was really craving a burrito bol at Chipotle. Instead I made a 'nearly fat-free tostada' using corn tortillas crisped in a pan with Pam, fat-free refried beans spread on top, favorite salsa on top of that, and low fat shredded cheese on top of that. Put them in a toaster oven till the cheese melted and they were ready to go. It's no burrito bol but it does help satisfy the craving for right now... (2 of these = 6)

Phenomenal Hot Cocoa Drink:
"Scharfen Berger" (or other brand) Natural, unsweetend Cocoa Powder (100 % cocoa!).
Splenda.
Microwave some hot water in your mug.
Add Splenda.
Add 1 - 1 1/2 tsps (to taste) Cocoa powder.
Add 1-2 Tbsp. Coffeemate.
Enjoy!
(about 50 calories, and the 100% cocoa tastes fantastic! (Don't buy Swiss Mss, etc.)
Sometimes I brew regular decaf coffee from fresh beans, and add a bit of the cocoa powder and Coffeemate, and voila! Another taste sensation.
Enjoy!

Weight gains are part of the journey. And we can not be perfect all of the time. We have to live from time to time--which is why I am such a fan of WW because it allows you to live a lot!
Remember this--perfection is a fool's paradise. It's true of losing weight, it's true of art, it's true of so much in life. When we accept that, we can be freer and happy to accomplish great things.

Well, if I can get rid of that gain and maybe another half a pound to boot - I'm going to treat myself to Chipotle's. I've just been craving it for TOO LONG!
You're absolutely right jerby - that is what makes Weight Watchers so successful for so many years. Weigh in day is Monday and that's the day to go out and celebrate. You have a whole week to make up for it! (LOL)
