At some point, you will stop losing. You will reach the place where the calories you burn are equal to the calories you consume. If you reach your goal and continue losing, you might have to adjust your diet to eat more and maintain.

Yeah, I'm going to bet that your body will stop losing when it wants to--that you should then live on the daily points that are used at your goal weight. I would think the web site gives information on what to do (maybe not until you do reach the goal). Otherwise, check out the message boards on WW's web site or attend a meeting (though I bet the jealous ones will throw things at you lol).

When you reach your goal WW has you start adding points until you figure out how much you need to eat to maintain.

Just to brag a little, after 3 months I'm down 32 lbs re: The BWW Weight Watchers Club

Wow--that is stunning!

I feel like mine is going slowly. But, I guess that is good.

I started exercising and the points I earn make me want to keep exercising to keep earning points. So I can be BAD. re: The BWW Weight Watchers Club

Ok... I am so happy right now... I am not technically on WW, but I do follow a lot of their teachings. Anyway... I've lost quite a bit of weight in the past 4 months... close to 20 pounds. I was reluctant to buy new clothes, but alas, I'm tired of my pants falling down if I'm not wearing a belt (which I seldom do - I think I'm allergic). SO I gave in and ran to the mall just now. I bought pants that are waist 31!!! That's unheard of for me! I haven't been a waist 31 since my early 20s. And they were still slightly big on me. Woo-hoo!!!

I've hit a roadblock...and am going in reverse. I was down about 12 lbs (on 9/30) and since then (seems like overnight), I'm up 5 lbs from my 9/30 weight. I haven't really changed my eating habits during that time,* and I feel like there is enough variety in my workout to keep my muscles guessing (a website generates my daily workout). What can I do to keep the weight loss going? I'd ideally like to lose another 15 lbs. I drink at least 3 liters (or 6 pints) of water a day.

I lift 4 days a week (30 min cardio each of those days). Additionally, I try and go at least 1 other day (or 2 if I can) of the week and do just cardio that day. I'm starting to get discouraged that I've already hit a wall when I was just starting to get going!

* I started drinking protein shakes towards the end of Sept/beginning of Oct and increased the protein in my diet (or at least I'm trying). I do feel slightly more muscular, but can I, a girl, really gain 5 lbs in muscle in 10 days? It doesn't seem right. Also, a friend told me that peanuts were a great snack, so I've been munching on them for my mid-morn and mid-afternoon snack, but I'm afraid that the fat in peanuts (even though it's supposedly 'good' fat) is affecting my weight as well. Any thoughts? Do I really need the protein if I'm going for the lean, fit look? (I want those arms!!)

My loss has been slow but visible. Congrats to all who are having great success and keep up the faith to those of you who may feel like you are going backwards or too slow.

Madame X... a 5 pound fluctuation, though a bit large, is not uncommon. My weight tends to fluctuate about 3 to 4 pounds, depending on when I weigh myself, and what I've eated. A lot could be water weight, and probably some muscle. Don't worry so much about the scale but more about how your clothes fit you. If you haven't noticed any change in that, you're fine.

I'm down 22 lbs. and a clothing size in five weeks. But, I haven't lost a single pound this week. Argh! I usually lose more on weekends ... fingers crossed.

Yeah, I understand the daily fluctuation in weight. When I weighed myself first thing in the morning, I was about 152 and around 155 at night. Now, no matter when I weigh myself, I clock in around 156/157. It's the consistency of the weight that has me concerned. Some might be bloating from PMSing, but 2 weeks is a long time to be PMSing LOL. I'm not exactly sure about the clothes as my body has been changing from the weight loss the past few mos, but I do feel like I'm in a constant state of pregnancy (and I'm not pregnant), which makes me think my ab work is for naught. I really wonder if I should cut out the protein drinks. I feel like my face is getting bigger also, but maybe I'm just being overly sensitive/analytical.

I usually lose more on weekends ... fingers crossed.
I wish this were the case for me! Even though I think I eat less on the weekends, somehow I always gain a pound or 2 by Sunday.

Gaining muscle also increases your body's ability to absorb, therefore retain more water (protein is more water soluable than fat is). You may wish to cut the protein shakes by half and see how that helps. Ab work is difficult to gauge results with, because they're often "hidden." Cardio might be more key, if you want to cut back on abs, but not neglect.

But it sounds as if everyone is doing well! And cheers for that! Plateaus can be hard. But push yourself to get over that, and continue on towards your goals!

(Go DD! You and I are the same waist size!)

Yeah, I know I'm a skinny fu*k, but I'm curious as to some of your daily routines...

I have found that doing a morning warm-up --nothing crazy, I do a simple routine--just what I'd do before a show--starting witht he neck and going down--nothing at all strenuous...then end up with maybe 50 crunches and 20 push-ups...then I eat breakfast--almost always grape-nuts, plain yogurt and frozen blueberries, maybe 1 1/2 cups of total food. Then I eat some unsalted nuts about two hours after that when I get hungry again. I find this really kick-starts my metabolism and keeps me from eating too much at one time.

My bf and I are working on a fitness and nutrition program, based on 5 small meals comprised of a lean protein, a fibrous carb and a strachy carb. Your lean proteins are poultry, bison, tofu, beans, and some cuts of pork. Fibrous carbs include broccoli, green beans, cauliflower, greens of any kind...those veggies that have a lower sugar content...Starchy carbs include potatoes (of course) tomatoes, fruit...

We've found that these specific food combos help you avoid the crash after eating a large meal or an ill-balanced one.

I've also found a great help for those late-night meals: papaya enzyme tablets--I buy these at GNC--the best I've found so far...and these little babies (take 3) help digest your food more quickly and it's very helpful for those of us who sometimes have to eat late or if you want to settle your stomach before a show.

Also, we never eat anything with high fructose corn syrup or partially hydrogenated oils...you'll find these poisons in almost every packaged food item on the market. It's a tough switch to make, but you can find healthy versions of your favorite snacks in health food sections in if you're lucky, in health food stores.

I am posting this to be helpful, by no means am I preaching--just sharing a few things I've picked up that have made a difference in my life.

Weight Watchers brand food is actually quite good. Their bread is bulkier and fresher tasting than the other "light" breads..and at 1 pt for 2 slices, you can't go wrong.

They have several delicious desserts. Try the chocolate muffins (sometimes by the frozen breakfast section). They are 3 pts and so yummy. The peanut butter pie and the chocolate cakes (cant think of the exact name, but also in the frozen section) are amazing.

I also like their snacks you buy at the meetings, but they are ridiculously overpriced.

Two years ago I weighed 220 pounds. I am 6'1 and I decided that isn't what I wanted to be anymore. i decided to exercise for an hour every day and eat better portions. With a lot of bike riding and dedication I am now currently at 170 pounds and feeling great because I can do all my dance steps!
