Exactly, Joe. Because when Al Gore sighed, Joe Six-Pack and Mrs. Six-Pack felt condescended to.

I keep saying: Democrats want leaders who are exceptional. Republicans want leaders who are "just like them."

Democrats have to win at that game--and then excel.

So excited, 45 minutes!

Is it just me or have the Republicans successfully turned this race from the most groundbreaking for female politicians ever (Hillary Clinton) to throwback, 1960sesque misogyny (So frail we have to go easy on her there only to garner estrogen votes Sarah Palin)?

How like them.

Unfortunately, the bar is set so low for her; all she has to do is show up without a period stain on her dress to be declared the winner.

And if her debate strategy is to attack Biden, as the media is reporting, and he lies back for fear of coming off too strong, then it’s all over for him. It’s really not easy for man to debate a woman without being accused of being patronizing, condescending, or a bully. It's going to be a tightrope walk for Biden. Let's hope he's up to the challenge.

Why is everyone buying into the MSM setting the bar so low for her? That's up to us, not the media. If she doesn't exhibit competence and readiness, she fails. It's that simple. The voters, not the MSM, get to set the bar for the candidates.

You are right Luscious, this is a theatrical show, it's not about substance, it's about image and impression.

(No offense to anyone who like myself actually takes theatre seriously.)

Below is a link to some of the comments coming out of the McCain campaign about just how low they want that bar set. In true Rovian fashion, they're trying to play her ignorance as a strength.

The bar is set low based on her interviews with Gibson and Couric. I don't think that it's something that the media is manufacturing out of whole cloth. Maybe that was the GOP's strategy all along. Make her look as ill-informed as possible leading up to the debate and then have her come out swinging. I prey I'm wrong, but I have a sneaking suspicion that in a couple of hours the media is going to be talking about how she blew Biden out of the water.

I just can't take Sarah Palin seriously...

Is it just me or does she look really nervous?

Ha... The ad at the bottom of the page under this thread was a McCain/Palin "A Proven Maverick" campagin ad.

At first I thought it was a joke. I don't think McCain/Palin is going to be winning too many votes on this forum.

Less than ten minutes in and she already mentioned "maverick" once.
