1. No one is trying to prevent him from giving money where he choses (which would be denying him his free speech). They are objecting to it by calling for people to not fund him by not eating his chicken. There is a difference which even you should be able to see and acknowledge. Just like if you called for a boycott on watching Alec Baldwin because of what he does with his money, you're not denying him his free speech.

2. Focus on the Family, one of the groups to whom Cathy gives money, has been designated a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Excellent use of the Fox News spin on the story, but it's not very accurate. I don't know about the laws in Boston or San Francisco, but in Chicago, the Alderman (the guy who actually made the threat, not Emanuel) can recommend disapproval to the subdivision of property for commercial use. And he can do so for a number of reasons. If he were a Tea Partier, he could make the exact same recommendation to block a business because they donate to organizations that support gay marriage, or Planned Parenthood, for example. I'd bet dollars to doughnuts "free speech" would never enter the minds of the right.

At any rate, this isn't happening because of something the owner said. I'm sure you know that, but you can't state the truth because it doesn't fit your paranoid hysteria. That's just straight-up ignorance.

Now, I don't agree with the politicians getting involved and trying to block locations. That's a very slippery slope that could easily turn against any minority and if we're going to have free enterprise, then we need to be fair. Let the bigots show themselves in large numbers standing in line for chicken and let the rational society boycott the chicken. All the ruckus this issue has raised only illustrates that gay marriage equality is a major national issue and the bigots are getting louder because their numbers are dwindling at an increasingly rapid pace. They're losing and they know it. With each media storm, they are looking more and more like the Westboro Baptist Church. Intolerant, ignorant, desperate, shrill, and almost universally loathed. I guarantee the Tea Partiers are not going to come out of this looking good. I'm just waiting for the inevitable idiot to punch herself in the face and carve backwards letters on her forehead.

If a Conservative mayor or mayors were to try and stop Ben and Jerrys ice cream from opening a shop in their city because they disagreed with Ben and Jerrys' political stance or who they were donating money to, I would be saying the same thing.

Extreme Christians and Republicans need to claim victory whenever they see a chance. Remember their JC Penny Boycott? Starbucks? Penny's sales were down the first quarter and they hired Ellen around the 2nd quarter but they claimed it was their boycott that gave Penny's such a poor quarter. Its called desperation. Chick Fil is a HATE GROUP. Some have a problem with that BUT IT IS A FACT! Arguing with people who refuse to believe it despite the evidence are too stupid to even talk to,which is why Mikey is a waste of time. He is a proven liar and Hated on this forum yet he is crazy enough to keep trying to convert others to his misinformed way of thinking. HE IS DESPERATE! Why else would a sane person BASH GAYS on a Broadway message board?

Mikey is not a teacher, a parent, or heterosexual. I even have my doubts that he is a conservative. I think is nothing more than a troll who likes to stir the pot. Since this is a Broadway-themed establishment, I wonder what mikey's favorite Broadway show is.

The funny thing is that I haven't heard one gay person agree with what the mayors did. In fact most of the gay people I know have specifically said they disagree with what the mayors did. Yet the one thing I keep hearing from the people interviewed in line yesterday was, "THE GAYS went too far this time" As far as I can see, "the gays" have done nothing. What say ye, Mikey?

I read SH*T like that all day yesterday. I didn't sleep well last last night thinking about it, this whole thing has upset me more than anything in recent memory has..

The lie is one person Representing the company releases a statement saying they don't talk publicly about their numbers or how much they bring in on a given day. That is not their policy. Then you have the President of Chick Fil A bragging to Rick Warren that they made record earnings in that day alone. Two reps from the Company,one being the President,contradicting the other.

That is the lie. Saying one thing while at the same time doing the exact opposite.

(Anxiety ridden ramblings that probably make little sense, but I feel the need to let it out, follows...)
The thing that bothers me the most about this...(it didn't keep me awake last night. But I woke up in the middle of several dreams that were related to this)...is that, working in theatre I'm very sheltered from outright opposition to who I am as a gay man. I mean outside of the occasional Westboro Baptist protest I see on the news, I NEVER see ordinary people stand up and voice hate for me. Maybe they keep it inside because it's considered PC to do so these days. But seeing these masses of ordinary folks lining up to say "we think you're an abomination" really hit me hard.

I mean it really kind of shocked me to see all those sweet little grannies and people that look just like the people I know...all lined up in the name of hating me.

I find myself questioning all the ordinary folks I deal with or run into every day now. Are they just pretending they like me, but inside think I'm icky and hell bound? These shouts of "this time you've gone too far" make me think that it's not really "this time" that they've hated me. Just that it's "this time" that they've been pushed enough to speak out about it. The miles and miles of crazy hate I saw on facebook yesterday, on both sides, make me think this issue is finally coming to a head, which may be good, but it probably won't be pretty.
