"God Save the King"
What God? Do Kings have to be religious? Specifically protestant Church of England?
I think the days of Elizabeth I versus Mary Stuart should be over by now. Thanks for reminding me of another facet of the ridiculousness of this institution. Still, I'm glad you enjoy.

No doubt you have all missed me, but worry not, I am back from my week-long ban.
I spent the last week locked in the Tower of London, reflecting on my sins. I am sorry for offending you, your majesty.

King Charles to return looted royal regalia to Ghana in loan deal
Gold and silver treasure looted from West Africa by the British army in colonial wars are to be "lent" to Ghana in a three year deal, the British Museum has announced. The precious regalia, which had belonged to the Assante royal court, is regarded as part of the "national soul" of Ghana. Under the deal, 17 objects from the Victoria and Albert Museum, and 15 from the British Museum, will go on show later this year at the Manhyia Palace Museum in Kumasi, the capital of the Assante region. The items have not been seen in Ghana for 150 years. News of the deal came as Greece renewed its call for the Parthenon marbles to be returned to Athens.
Most of the objects involved in the Ghana deal with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the current Assante king, were looted from Kumasi during the Anglo-Assante wars in the 19th century. Some formed part of an indemnity payment forcibly extracted from from the Assante king at the time. They also include a gold lute harp. Ghana's culture minister, Nana Oforiatta Ayim, welcomed the deal as a "good starting point" in righting the wrongs of the UK's violent colonial past. Speaking to the BBC, which first reported the deal, she said "they are not just objects, they have a spiritual importance as well... they are part of the soul of the nation. It is pieces of ourselves returning."
Tristram Hunt, director of the Victoria and Albert Museum, said the items were the equivalent of Britain's crown jewels.

The former monarch of Denmark, Queen Margrethe II, is related to the late Queen Elizabeth II as third cousins. Interesting family ties. Queen Margrethe II is an artist, and one of her paintings is now for sale by auction. I like it.

Yes, Margrethe has even illustrated an edition of Lord of the Rings, I believe. Wonderful lady.
She was the first Danish monarch to abdicate in 800 years, defying tradition. I wonder if Charles III be so bold? The kings of Belgium, Spain, and queen of the Netherlands, have all stepped down in favour of their eldest child. It’s the new thing. Even Popes are doing it these days. Keep up, Charlie.

Quick question, just for fun.
Without googling, can you name the current King of Belgium?
Spain? Netherlands? Sweden? Norway?

Only one week ago, 12 migrants drowned in a desperate attempt to cross the English Channel.
Each and every one of these lives were of no more or less importance than Princess Catherine. I personally find it obscene that the health of one privileged celebrity gets more attention.
I of course wish Kate a full and lasting recovery, and wish that everyone could be so lucky to have the same access to the best healthcare available.

King Charles and Queen Camilla will visit Australia and Somoa in October. As this article states, this will be a test of the King's stamina as he recovers from cancer therapy.
The King and the Princess of Wales perform an invaluable service to cancer survivors throughout the world as they return to public duties. They show that cancer can strike without regard to personal status and that life CAN go on despite a cancer diagnosis. I wish them good health.

A child should NEVER be the subject of ridicule in this or any website, no matter who his parents are. ANYONE should understand that....even a troll.

A child should NEVER be offered up as a prop to the world’s media. We shouldn’t even know George’s name or face. It’s wrong to see him used to promote this medieval cosplay cult.

Happy 40th birthday, Harry.
I truly hope that George, Charlotte, and Louis do not experience the trauma you have had to suffer under such intense spotlight .
My congratulations and admiration on your successful escape from such a wretched institution. Your mother would be proud.

King Charles and Princess Catherine (along with other family members) were diagnosed with cancer in the not-too-distant past. They both look wonderful. Wishing them continued good health and long, happy lives! ![]()
