I left too early last night! Too bad I missed the beginning of the Church of Warlow service --it's not too late for me to worship is it?
Anyway...my first encounter with Anthony's voice was with the Concept Recording of Jekyll and Hyde in 1997. His version of "This is the Moment" is still the best --especially the way he holds that last note for 30 seconds. This led me to buy numerous other Anthony recordings including: The Secret Garden, The Best of Act One, Centre Stage, On the Boards (love the title song), The Main Event, Midnight Dreaming, Back in the Swing, and Face the Music.
I also own the single of "Beauty School Dropout" from Anthony's portrayal of Teen Angel in Grease. If you hear his version you will forget about Frankie Avalon FOREVER!
I also tried unsuccessfully to get Anthony Warlow as a performer for the Opening or Closing Ceremonies at the Sydney Olympics. Myself and other members of the Anthony Warlow newsgroup wrote letters to the Opening Ceremonies entertainment director. Oh well...I guess you can't do everything!
If he had performed at the Olympics, I probably would've perished from sheer delight.
This thread led me to listen to my Warlow playlist on my iPod on a loop last night. Good God, I love this man.
As a classically trained vocalist myself, I can say that Anthony is performer has had an influence on me and probably who I aspire to sound like. I like the fact that he can seamlessly go between opera, musical theatre, and jazz and it all still sound amazingly good.
Another amazing item about Anthony is his battle with and triumph over cancer and the work he has done to raise money for cancer research to help others fight the disease.
I think it would be easier to name an aspect of Mr. Warlow that ISN'T amazing. I don't think I have half as much respect for any other performer.
You are so right Kitz...we could go on all day spouting his virtues
Don't know if this has been posted before or not:
30 signs you might be obsessed with Anthony Warlow
I can only attest for 3 of the 30. I think I'm doing ok.
Yeah I think I can only claim 3 as well...but could be accused of possibly 5. I think you would have to live in Australia to achieve some of these.
Here is a quiz on Anthony Warlow facts that I found, a few of the questions are a bit tricky even for a Warlow fanatic:

I got 7/10. Not bad considering the average is only 4/10.
Yeah...I scored 8/10...I missed his birthday and his quote about being bald.
I refuse to let this thread fall by the wayside.
In Anthony's name, amen.
Oh, dear... I got 10/10, spider. Shame on you!

HAHA.
I took some lucky guesses and got a 9/10. I didn't see "blank" question.
But I knew the answer!
Yes, Enjolres . . . any children of Warlow is welcomed here no matter when you see this thread. In the name of the Voice, The talent, and The Warlow, Amen!
9 of 10. I forgot the actual name of the cancer he had. DANG IT!!!
Thanks Spidey...I will gladly worship at the shrine of St. Anthony
Well then . . . may Anthony shine is vocal blessing upon you, my child.
The power of Anthony compels me!
Here is a Anthony Warlow tale which has a happy ending.
At the time he did PHANTOM (and leading up to it) he had had a huge amount of praise heaped upon him, subsequently his ego was growing at the same rate as the praise was coming in. It got so bad that at the time when the cast of PHANTOM was gathered on stage to be told that he would be leaving the show, a cheer went up. Several months later he was diagnosed with cancer, well fortunately it was halted and he emerged from the illness with a clean bill of health and a much humbler and nicer person.
Good! I hate oversized egos.
A special bump for a special man.
Warlow Song of the Day: Lily's Eyes. A truly beautiful work that is made even better by the fact that he sings it with Philip Quast, my other favorite Aussie
We should have an all Aussie male musical theatre star concert with Anthony, Phillip Quast, David Campbell, and Hugh Jackman.....but of course I would settle for just Anthony in concert by himself!
That might be the most increadible idea I've ever heard! I was disappointed that Evita wasn't open yet when I went to London--I would've KILLED to see Philip Quast in person!
a special bump for our celebrity of the day -- Kitzarina
