Y'know, there's a film that's pretty famous for its twist ending. Had I seen that film knowing nothing about it, I'd've been shocked and amazed at the ending. However, some... fool had said to me a couple of days before, "I won't tell you what happens at the end, but there's a great twist!". I figured out that film's twist in the first three minutes, and have been annoyed at that... fool ever since.
I'm just sayin'.

Posted: 7/18/08 at 4:57pmI am not crazy about Bale--- he just seems to be disinterested to me.. That being said, I thought the movie as a whole was great !!! Ledger was amazing, and the supporting cast was VERY good !! Loved Freeman !

"he just seems to be disinterested"
I've heard a lot of things said about Mr. Bale, but that's a first.

Leaving the theatre today, seemed like many people felt the same way about Bale. Most said he was the weak link (if there was one) --- the movie is VERY good!)

So wait; I loved 'Batman Begins' MASSIVELY after only seeing one trailer. I loved it for itself. If this film turns out to be more of the same good work and I end up loving it, are you saying I'm only loving it because zomg heath ledger DIED and iss so SAD!!!111!!!!1!!!? 'Cos that doesn't sound like me at all. :/

Batman Begins was brillant, this was not, it was dull. Ledger was nothing to right home about and as others apart from myself have said, if Ledger was not dead, the praise would not be forth coming. Was he a good actor, yes in Brokeback, in this not at all. He has maybe 35 minutes of screen time and he brings nothing new to the role.
Remove the hype and see whats left.

Well! I'd better phone the cinema and ask for my money back! I'll just stay home on Thursday! No need for me to at all see if the film appeals to *me*, or if *my* opinion might be worth anything to, y'know, *me*! Rosscoe - tells it like it is!!!

Oh, I have to totally (but, respectfully) disagree with you.
Ledger gives an amazing performance !!! JMHO.

I'm sorry I'm being a biotch today. It always makes me a little crappy when people say "it is" rather than "I think". It's just so absolute-sounding, and even though it's silly, I feel like I'm not being given any room for the possibility of a differing opinion. I know intellectually that I should always mentally add "in my opinion" to the front of everything I read online, but sometimes it's easier to just shout.
I'm still looking forward to seeing the film on Thursday and making up my own mind about whether or not it's the film for me. :3

Oh wow--a handful of people agree with you that Ledger's performance is overrated so you clearly must be right and the rest of us--the majority--must be wrong. Of course, we are. There's absolutely no way we truely loved the film for itself or Ledgers performance for itself because we can only be blinded by Ledger's death. Even though I was not one of those people obsessed with his death, I have clearly caught that particular disease.
Not.
It's going to be a long, exhausting ride to the Oscars.

Weez, you are right, i was forcing my opinion on others. The thing was I was really looking forward to this movie and it disappointed me. After the brillance that was Batman Begins, this left me cold and from listening to the media hype on Ledger, I was looking for better than what i got.

It wasn't nearly as good as Batman Begins, which became one of my favorite movies, but it was decent. Batman Begin has a very in-depth story line with the whole Raz Al-Ghoul thing..The Dark Knight just seemed to have a lot going on.
I haven't been reading the reviews or anything thing written on this thread but the last couple of posts. Apparently, Heath Ledger's performance is overrated. I thought he was very good.

I am interested in seeing how this one works as a follow-up; one of the things I really like about superhero movies is the origin parts of the story. I mean, I'm a nerd, but I don't always know where these guys come from, and seeing it fully realised on the big screen both helps me and makes me happy. Batman's origin makes me happy, Iron Man's origin made me happy, I even enjoyed the Fantastic Four's origins more than the rest of the story. The only exception is Spider-man, because I found Alfred Molina much more exciting to watch than Tobey Maguire, so the second of those movies was more enjoyable to me. I also preferred the second X-Men movie, but the first one didn't have so much in the way of origin as other superhero movies.
Mmm, origin stories! When's the Wolverine movie happening?
I think I lost track of what I was saying there...
EDIT: OMG! Okay, BALLS to Batman! 'Wolverine' has GAMBIT! *turns embarrassing fangirl cartwheels of glee!*

Just got back from the IMAX version and it was the best time I've had in a movie theater in years. If you can get tickets (the IMAX theater I saw it in is sold out for the next two weeks) go see it on the giant screen...it's beautifully shot and edited.
Ledger's performance was even better and more effective in IMAX. Bigger, broader, more maniacal.
Also, there's a VERY VERY VERY short Harry Potter trailer before the movie. Literally 15 seconds long. It's just Harry (I think) saying something I didn't even listen to and then the title of the movie appears. I didn't pay attention because I thought there would be more than fiften seconds.
