I did a search and didn't see any threads about this show. For anyone who doesn't know this is a competition reality series to supposedly win an eight episode arc on Glee set to air on Oxygen next month. And if a guy wins he would be a love interest for Mercedes.

Originally, I had not planned on watching but then it was announced that Damian McGinty would be one the contestants. Damian is the youngest member of Celtic Thunder (and my being a fan isn't a secret). So, I figure I'll watch just for Damian.

But is this going to be more like the Legally Blonde MTV show where only the judges choose or the Grease one where the audience votes? If it's audience voting Damian has a very unfair advantage. The Thunderheads have already taken over the comments section over there.

The Celtic boy has been up for elimination both times I watched. I hope he and the tall geeky boy hook up. They are such a cute couple.

I hate this show. I guess it's appropriate that they are all being auto-tuned because that's what they'll sound like on Glee, but I saw them live on a morning show a few weeks ago, and they were all just God-awful. Not a decent voice in the bunch.

I've only seen part of it twice and my thoughts were that it was odd they focus exclusively on singing. Are they eventually going address that the show is about 90% acting and 10% singing? You can always fix someone's voice but if they can't act, they can't act.

And why is the only kids you get to see actually perform are the three worst ones? All the good kids you hear part of one line in a group number and so you have NO IDEA what these judges see in them.

I did laugh when the big black guy said it was hard to wear a sign that said "gay" since he'd JUST come out a few months ago. I can guarantee NO ONE was surprised when she made THAT announcement.

The Celtic boy has been up for elimination both times I watched.

Uh, Damian. He's always been awkward - he's gotten better in the last year or so but that will be his Achillies heel on this show.

I've seen the first two episodes (Oh, Ellis!) and I actually do like it. I think it is disingenuous to say all of these kids have poor voices or that it is all about auto-tune. Lindsey, just to single out one, has a great voice but that better be a poor edit to make her look bad as she appears to be quite nasty and condescending.

I do question the set-up of making do the same songs as the show (copy-right?) when I think quite a few of them have their own styles and the show is about whether the Murphy, Brennan, and Falchuk want to write about them. I think Damien is getting the short end of the stick on that account as he has a nice voice but goodness his style has not put him on good standing with past Glee episodes (Puck and Artie are the best male vocalists of the regular characters and have nothing on most of the female regulars).

I agree with Joe that acting should have been an immediate second-episode stop. But I guess attitude fit with the episode since it seems clear that the writers want a likable personality and also somebody who would get along with the cast so they weed out the whiners and people who just do not register with them at all.

I actually think behind the scenes choreographer Zach Woodlee, who probably works with them for hours between practice and the music video, is really the biggest eyes and ears for the judges. He seemed pretty adamant and influential during the first two eliminations.

Agreed. I have to wonder why Nikki doesn't get say in the elimination. She works with them just as much as Zach does

I do question the set-up of making do the same songs as the show (copy-right?) when I think quite a few of them have their own styles and the show is about whether the Murphy, Brennan, and Falchuk want to right about them.

I also think part of it is drawing the Glee fans in by using songs they remember from the show. I would like to hear more of what they would sing if they had a choice. I recall a mention of Damian singing an Irish song and how great it was (I'm assuming it was Buachaill Ón Eirne). Why not let the viewers see that and the other contestants being themselves? Just last night Ryan made Cameron come back and sing wearing his regular clothes because he wanted to see the "real" Cameron.

I wasn't sure but the fact that Damian said something gave me pause. I've been following his career since he was 14 and have never seen or heard him say anything of the like before.

The vocal producer, Nikki Anders is actually an incredible vocalist in her own right. She used to be in the Contemporary Christian singing group Avalon. Her last name was Hassman then.

Here is a link to one of their songs that she shared lead vocals on. Minute 3:15 to the end is quite impressive. I have heard her sing live and she was amazing. This was recorded in the 90's before autotune.

Wow! This missing comment issue has now happened to me twice on this thread.

Anyway, when Dot Marie Jones sensed 'fakeness' in Lindsey, I paused. I used to just think it was a typical set-up of girls trying to tear down each other with Lindsey, Emily and Ellis the most vocal, and Murphy (who edits the whole show) found the tension irresistible. But Lindsey's reaction to the criticism by DMJ and the guys like Damian making comments are starting to make me think the edit is a set-up for an explanation of why she will get eliminated at some point. Even her vulnerability moment seemed incredibly vain and narcissistic.

Marissa and Samuel seem to be the most down to earth and chill. They are never the target of criticism nor criticizing their fellow contestants as of yet.

Ryan Murphy did say something about somebody getting eliminated that in the edits he considered their talent to be finale material but there were other factors just not there.

Just for the record, the winner appears to have an arc revolving around Sue Sylvester and not so much New Directions.

SPOILER: I actually did read a spoiler list of who is coming next and who is in the Top 6 but none really surprised me.

I can totally see that happening. They can't bring someone into a group dynamic like Glee and have them be a diva from the start. Lea Michele wouldn't like it

My disappearing thread post simply said that my least two favorite contestants are Lindsay and Alex.

Lindsay is a biotch who just may rival Lea Michele in ego.

Someone needs to tell Alex that the role of Mercedes is already cast.

Matheus and Alex were competing for biggest asshole this episode. May these two have no chance on winning. It was so great to see Alex's narcissism and lies get thrown back in his face, from Ryan Murphy of all people makes it even better.

McKynleigh got eliminated. She was never going to win. She barely registered. I still would have eliminated Matheus for his attitude alone, his bottom 3 performance was terrible.

The real shock was Samuel getting a lot of play in this episode and weirdly enough, appearing like a bad person. Yeah he should have been more honest to Nikki about 'taking' Hannah's rap but at least he was honest and told Hannah immediately what he did. He could have definitely not told Hannah about it until she heard the song. Anyway, I like Samuel.

Robert Ulrich and Zack Woodlee really like Damian. I think he is sticking around because of that even when the assignments are completely different from his style.

Next episode is the pairs. Cameron and Lindsey do Baby It's Cold Outside and all I can say is whoever directed the video totally gets what is going on in this song. Absolutely hysterical and the rendition is not that bad:

I still would have eliminated Matheus for his attitude alone, his bottom 3 performance was terrible.

When he took off his shirt my first thought was "He did NOT just go there" and I think Zach agreed with me. I knew McKynleigh was going to go eventually but I would have kept her over Matheus based on Bottom 3 Performance alone. I felt she finally seemed to "find" herself with that performance while Matheus took a flying leap over the top/

The real shock was Samuel getting a lot of play in this episode and weirdly enough, appearing like a bad person. Yeah he should have been more honest to Nikki about 'taking' Hannah's rap but at least he was honest and told Hannah immediately what he did. He could have definitely not told Hannah about it until she heard the song. Anyway, I like Samuel.

I was really torn about that. It's good that he owned up to Hannah but crappy that he didn't to Nikki (at least on camera). I wish he had made it less of a joke when he told Hannah though. To me it came off "Ha, I totally stole your bit" when it should have been "You inspired me" or something.

Being a CT fan I am biased in regards to Damo but even I was surprised on how well he seemed to do in the "Can't Touch This" video. He has been awkward for as long as I've been watching him perform. Heck, the boy made a mistake the night they were filming one of the DVDs. That's been part of his charm though and I think that's what they're seeing. He's also funny and very charming. I don't have any personal experience with any of the other contestants. But having met Damo and watching him grow up I can understand why they like him.

I've been keeping up with this show via On Demand, and it's entertaining to say the least.

I still would have eliminated Matheus for his attitude alone, his bottom 3 performance was terrible.

That was cringe worthy. I sat there thinking, "why ... why would you tear off your shirt in front of the panel of people judging you?"

As for McKynleigh leaving, it was sad, but she lacked the spark. She had a beautiful voice and she seemed sweet enough, but it was a shame that she had to finally give a really great performance only to end up being cut.

I haven't fully caught up yet, but so far my favorite to win is Cameron.

I initially thought that Emily had a great chance and would've been a fantastic and spunky love interest for Santana, so that shows how much I know, but based on likeability and the initial very warm response from the judges to Cameron I imagine he'll be the one to beat - not based necessarily on what's been on the show, but I have a feeling that he's the teachers pet.

I think Damien's accent will work against him - he is quite likeable, and maybe it's just me but I do find his speaking accent a little hard to decipher at times and I wonder if that's something they will factor in when deciding the winner. It's very cute when he's singing though.

I imagine that more than just the winner will appear on the show at some point - they mentioned that Samuel auditioned before through the normal route, and there's nothing to stop the losers from going back that way with the great advantage of being on this show!

Hannah is hardly original. She stole her bit from Jack Black in Kung-Fu Panda.
