Well, if they stayed away from every company that has a Princeton grad working for them, they would have nobody left.

Roxy's right. Can you imagine the outcry if they were Republican Princeton grads? The old double standard is alive and quadrupling. Imagine, just imagine, the riots in the street if Vice President Cheney's company Haliburton had received billions of dollars in no-bid contracts with the US military and millions of dollars in US taxpayer cash had just vanished with no accounting! Buildings would have been burned down on the evening news.

It's kind of interesting how people are up in arms about potentially less pay for doctors now. Well, there is a doctor from my area who would make trips to foreign countries to give medical care to poor people there. He actually started a free clinic in my area because he did not understand why people were so willing to travel out of the country to give people help, when there are people right here in the USA who need the help too. He still does have his own practice obviously. But, he does the free clinic too, along with other doctors because they want to. I just checked their website and they used to only be open on Monday evenings. Starting in November they are doing Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings.

I am quite sure had it been bid on instead of been no bid they could have found something else. It smells of favoritism and ethics lapse but hey the Obama administration would never do that. They obviously were not qualified to do it from the beginning.

Roxy's right. Remember how vocal he was against the billions in hard-earned taxpayer dollars handed over to Halliburton in no-bid contracts during the previous administration? Imagine the outcry if Roxy had ever been inconsistent in his outrage over no-bid government contracts!

no one who does primary care set out to do it for the money.

regardless of the ACA or whoever's president, an unspoken fact is how much this is driven by the market. top paid physicians (and, it might be added, those with the nicest hours), include plastic surgeons, dermatologists, and orthopaedics, while the worst include family practice, internists, and pediatricians. i.e., the smoothness of our skin, the pert of our boobs, and the health of our athletes matter more to us than our children and elderly. so the pay problem with primary care won't get better until that is addressed.

With all due respect, bethnor, we're not discussing WHY someone gets into the medical profession; regardless of their speciality or necessity. It's not even really about the medical field. It's just an unpractical scenario: your workload increases and your pay decreases in a one year period? Does that make sense to you? Would YOU continue your job if you were put into that situation?

If you're responding to me, you'll recall we already had a lengthy discussion on here and I am *not* suggesting that all medical professionals hate "Obamacare."

I know. Your family of doctors don't mind it, but my husband's family of doctors do. Because two of them, both pediatricians with a practice now owned by a non-profit medical group, have already been notified of a pretty steep cut in their anticipated pay for 2014. The reason being the ACA. Happy New Years to them, I guess.

And we are putting our lives and our health in these people's hands. These people who cannot run Amtrak, who cannot run the Postal Service, who raided Social Security and who created a monumental failure of a website.
Kathleen Sebelius has stated that 3 1/2 years was not enough time. But we know they did not work on this for 3 1/2 years. They procrastinated and sat on their hands until after the 2012 election because they did not want people to see this as it might have had negative consequences for Obama's re-election bid.
And now many Democrats in the Senate (well, those who are up for re-election ins 2014) are wanting a one year delay in the implementation of the law. Isn't that what the Republicans wanted a few weeks ago when the government "shutdown" happened?
And the sad fact is, they KNEW the website was going to be a disaster, but they plowed ahead anyway.
"Days before the launch of President Obama’s online health ­insurance marketplace, government officials and contractors tested a key part of the Web site to see whether it could handle tens of thousands of consumers at the same time. It crashed after a simulation in which just a few hundred people tried to log on simultaneously."

Funny how none of those concerns seems to matter when you are talking furloughed federal employees, or private sector employees who have gone through years of no raises with increased work loads.

For the record, I agree that the process of delivering medical services in this country is unduly burdensome, and creates a lot of unnecessary red tape. But, that is because the private insurance market relies on insurance companies that have inconsistent requirements, forms, processes and accepted procedures. If we could get to single payer, that may resolve some of the inefficiencies.

I mail a letter anywhere in the world and it gets there. There isn't any private company that does that.

The vote makes the chances of a government shutdown Tuesday increasingly likely.
That's because passage of the amendments sends a temporary budget resolution back to the Senate, where Democrats vow to again block the anti-Obamacare amendments."

Nice to know you are happy with Amtrak ($616 million deficit) and the USPS ($3.9 billion deficit in the first 8 months of 2013). With success stories like that, it is easy to see why liberals support Obamacare.
