If you're in Chicago, come celebrate with us this week as the Joffrey Ballet turns 50. Free performances will be given at The Harris and Pritzker (Gehry) Theatres. There will also be other events (children's performances at The Crown Fountain) and classes will offered in Millennium Park. Check www.joffrey.com for details (There is a gorgeous coffee table picture book to commemorate 50 years and you can order it at Joffrey.com.) Over one hundred and sixty former Joffrey dancers (including some of the original six) will come to Chicago from all over the world for Saturday night's 50th Anniversary Gala Performance at The Pritzker Pavilion. Joffrey will be accompanied by The Grant Park Orchestra under the charismatic baton of Maestro Carlos Kalmar.
Also check out the image of me on the banner - east side of Michigan Ave between Lake and Randolph. You'll recognize me only this time I'm in color!

Happy Birthday Glebby! ( for the ballet of course). I would love to see the Joffrey live someday. One of my favorits films recently is The Company. Have a great weekend celebrating such a wonderful anniversary!
LOL - Undi! Yes, the photo/banner is a little too clear for my comfort level. :) All the other banners (of the current dancers) are much better!
Opps, and thank you cheesedoodle!
I'm really glad you like THE COMPANY.
Congratulations to you and the Company, Glebby! I'm sure the banner is GORGEOUS - wish I could see it.
Thanks Rath. I'm sure there will be, umm, magic in the air Saturday night. :)
I hope by "magic in the air" you mean you will be leaping across that stage...
Uh... yeah. :)
Ohhhhhh how I wish I could be there for that!!
Oh I was kidding.
I meant that there will probably be every kind of magic imaginable. :)

Congrats to you and the amazing Joffrey Ballet, Glebby! =)
I love the Joffrey. I saw their production of Romeo and Juliet at Lincoln Center back in... '86? '87? I don't remember exactly. I think it was '86. (Maybe you know, Glebby!) Anyway, it was a beautiful experience I think about to this day.
Cool Erika!
I can't remember if it was 86 or 87, but it came into the rep in 85 and we did it at NYST not long after the JB premiere at Kennedy Center. You would have seen me as Benvolio or Mercutio btw. :)
Congratulations Glebb! I wish I could be there to celebrate with you! It's Saturday night and I have a house full of guests. I will let them know!! Go Joffrey!
Sorry for any confusion and thanks vbplayer. :)
This Tues (13th) and Thurs (15th) at Harris and Sat (a week from tonight) at Pritzker.
So I can get tickets for next Sat at Joffrey.com?
Tues (Cool Vibrations program) and Thurs (rep) at The Harris are free - first come first served.
Saturday is free but maybe checking with Joffrey.com, Millennium Park webpage or Grant Park Orchestra webpage is a good idea.
Saturday night is a gala fundraiser so I know there are expensive seats close to the stage. Not sure where the free seats start.

Congratulations to our beloved Glebb, and to the Joffrey Ballet!
The vitality and uniqueness of the Joffrey is a thing of beauty!
I WISH I could be in Chicago to join you for this special celebration. Sending you my best wishes for a grand gala celebration.
I'll be enjoying my book.

Cheers!
Happy Anniversary!
Thanks all. Fingers crossed for a wonderful week. :)
Congrats!!
I wish I could be there!!
I think that Mr. Joffrey is looking down right now and is smiling at the state of his company Glebby. And smiling directly at you for helping maintain his vision for it, in so many ways.
Wishing you and Joffrey a wonderful week on such a happy occassion! Wishing I could be there too!
The book is BEAUTIFUL, particularly the photos of you.

Congrats, to Joffrey--and to Glebby. What an achievement.
And, Glebby, I thought of you this week because here in Buffalo
Hell’s Kitchen Dance, featuring Mikhail Baryshnikov, makes first-ever appearance at the University of Buffalo. Unfortunately I could not get to any of the performances but a friend went and she LOVED it. Mischa has been here before and really likes Buffalo. I hope he returns so I can FINALLY see him in person.
Again, congrats to you Glebby and to Joffrey!
