Despite snotty remarks from some mo-gul, it looks like the final 3 seasons of this beloved show will finally come out on DVD per a piece in the Times' Arts and Leisure section.
Among the highlights TK:
1. Georgette's "Steam Heat"
2. Chuckles bites the dust
3. Johnny Carson visits
4. Sue Ann and Mary become big sisters and Sue Ann utters the great line "Mine's black!"
5. Murray loves Mary
6. Mary's Aunt Flo [played by Eileen Heckart]
Others?

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember the first season of the MTM Show was one of the first TV-to-DVD box sets that ever came out. If I remember correctly, it even beat out I LOVE LUCY. There was an insert in the First Season that said "Second Season coming soon!"
YEARS LATER, it came out. After HUNDREDS of other TV Shows made their DVD debuts. And follow-ups. And Complete Season Collections.
AGAIN, it's been over a year, if not YEARS, since we had another season release of the MTM Show.
Three words:
WHAT. THE. F*CK?????
MTM SHOW is one of the greatest sitcoms of all time. In my opinion, second only to I LOVE LUCY. This world is F*CKED UP when you can own all seasons of BEAVIS & BUTTHEAD but not THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW.

While I love and adore The MTM Show, am I the only one that didn't find the Chuckles/Dead episode to be the "OMG FUNNIEST EVA!"? I mean I found it humourous and all, but I swear every time I see somebody on TV talk about the show they have to mention this was the funniest episode of all time, and I just do not see it.

The Chuckles episode is among my least favorites. In fact, it is my least favorite.
My favorite episode is the one where they are going to the awards' show and everything goes wrong for Mary.

I met Mary twice and told he r how much the series and she mean to me. But to be frank, although deservedly critically acclaimed, the series never performed to expectations in syndicated rerun right after the series ended (and believe me, the local stations who paid the biggest licensing fees ever felt quite burned) or later on Nick or TVLand. MTM may not endure the way I Love Lucy has because people just don't tune in. So it's great they're finally out on DVD but seriously, two F-bombs and comparisons to shows people actually do watch and buy on DVD? A titch much.

Fox got the message and has now committed to releasing all three remaining seasons , covering episodes from the fall of 1974 to the spring of 1977.
This is GREAT news as I already own seasons 1-4 and I can finally complete my collection.

I'll buy the season containing CHUCKLES BITES THE DUST, to me the greatest half hour in American sitcom history.
That bit of MTM trying so desperately not to laugh at the funeral is one of the funniest things ever. Ever. Ever.

and if this sort of show were pitched today it would never be picked up.
and sad to say i think society has dumbed down so much that no one would watch.
and let's hope they add bonuses on the DVDs like:
1. RHODA'S WEDDING
2. episodes from PHYLLIS
3. etc.

Capn--I love your enthusiasm.
Namo, be damned!
I only wish Universal would get off their "teasing" horses and follow Sony's lead, and release more Leave It To Beaver. Two seasons, and then... NOTHING.
Thanks for following through, guys. You don't give a squat about the fans, obviously. Just the pocket book. I've been boycotting Universal DVDs ever since.
Well, kinda.
More than other studios, at any rate.
