For you new Wii owners. I highly recommend that yo invest in some rechargeable batteries. I only have one Wii mote (which uses 2 AA batteries) so I bought two rechargeable AA batteries with charger included for about $12. It's a lot better than having to go through packs of AA batteries because the Wii mote eats up the battery's juices. I hope Nintendo gets a rechargeable Wii-mote soon.

Have any of you guys made your "Miis" yet? I've made a couple as did my siblings, and it's crazy how fun making an anime version of yourself is.

I can't wait for the Wii orchestra game and the Mama's Cooking (which is coming out soon). Mama's Cooking sounds great...over 400 ingredients to choose from and 30 dishes to make, and Mama won't tolerate any mistakes when she's teaching you how to cook.

The new Super Mario game and new Sonic game will actually show people what Wii is capable of in terms of graphics. As artistically beautiful and inspired Zelda is, it's still a Gamecube game at it's core so it doesn't use all of the Wii's power. The Sonic game for PS3 and XBox 360, which promised gamers to be the game to get Sonic out of his overly cutesy mediocre platformer funk actually got horrible reviews. The one for Wii is different because it puts less emphasis in exploring and brings it back to basics...speed and takes the troublesome camera out of the player's hand, so they won't have to deal with it. Also, Sonic will be the only playable character, so no more annoying supporting characters to have to deal with.

Rented Call of Duty this week and it's definitely top notch.

But I'll happily admit - I'm quite content playing the Wii Sports game that came with the console.

The next two games I'm checking out are MarioWare and Rampage. The latter was one of my favorite coin-ops many years ago...

My mom has worked for Nintendo for about 15 years now, so needless to say my house was always full of Nintendo stuff when I was growing up. I was never big into gaming and lost interest in playing by the time I was in high school, but I was able to play the Wii when I went home for Thanksgiving and immediately was like, I need one of these! It's so fun, and even my Dad could play the Sports games (which is saying something). My mom got us our own Wii for Christmas and now my partner and I have boxing matches to count as excercise! LOL.

No surprise here: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070125/ap_on_hi_te/earns_japan_nintendo

Booming year-end sales of the wand-wielding Wii game console sent profit at Nintendo soaring 43 percent for the nine months ended December, the Japanese manufacturer of Pokemon and Super Mario games said Thursday.

Nintendo Co., which also makes GameBoy Advance and Nintendo DS handheld machines, recorded group net profit of 131.9 billion yen ($1.1 billion) in the first nine months of the fiscal year, up dramatically from 92.2 billion yen the same period a year earlier.

SEATTLE - Rabid video gamers could get some help keeping in touch with the outside world this weekend as Nintendo Co. launches an online news service through its popular Wii console.

The Wii News Channel, scheduled to debut Saturday, will primarily feature top news stories and photographs from The Associated Press.

Consoles with a broadband Internet connection and the Opera Web browser will be able to access the free news channel, which will offer AP news in multiple languages. Japanese-language news will come from a separate agency.

There were no immediate plans to sell advertising space, said Perrin Kaplan, vice president for marketing at Nintendo's U.S. headquarters in Redmond.

I'm updated my system so it can have the News channel now.

Prior to the Nintendo DS, Nintendo has always taken a hesitant stance towards online gaming, but it seems that the DS really opened their eyes to what online gaming could bring. The DS's wifi capabilities have been very successful, and I am glad that Nintendo is joining in on the online world. They aren't in X-Box 360's level in terms of an online community yet, but the fact that it's been 2 months since the Wii came out, and they already have included so many free downloadable updates to their system, and their Opera browser is already very good in it's trial version. I hope they fix whatever the consumers feel needs attention because I really think Nintendo can get even more people once they fully open themselves up for online gaming.

Updated this morning with news too. Pretty cool function

Also checked out Wariowares - it's silly, but really showcases everything the controller can do

Also picked up Rampage which as I think I mentioned before was an old favorite...

I just bought "Marvel: Ultimate Alliance" for the Wii yesterday, it's pretty great, lots of cool ways to deliver special attacks with the Wiimote.

I remember hearing a rumor that the Wii was going to come out with some sort of downloading service for the old games. Does anybody know if this is true or not? I would definitely buy a Wii just to play old-school Mario/Donkey Kong/Zelda/etc since our NES and SNES are pretty much in the graveyard.

Ahh, and though it's slightly off-topic, if you have a Playstation (1, 2, OR 3), there is a game called "Rhapsody," which is a short RPG that is also a musical. I haven't gotten far yet because a friend gave it to me for Christmas and it's too cold to sit in the living room with no heat right now (which is sad, b/c I also go FFXII as a gift), but I can't wait to play it! I thought that I would add a mention of it since we're all musical-lovers here.

Maybe Nintendo will come out with something, too!

You are talking about the Wii Shop Channel, which yes, releases new games to download every week. Last week we were given The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, which is an amazing game from the SNES platform. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is scheduled to be released sometime Quarter One, so I am definitely keeping my eye out for that one.

I am enjoying the new News Channel, I love the little song it plays when you first click on it. Very Newsesque.

Played the Wii last night for the first time. It's marvelous! I always hated video games, but this is fantastic. Anyone can play it! My 6-2 year old grandmother played it! What a fantastic creation, one of the greatest gaming consoles for the leyman, ever.

How to properly use its/it's: Its is the possessive. It's is the contraction for it is...

Baine, it's called Virtual Console. They already have a good assortment of games from Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Turbo 16X, and the Nintendo 64. They're releasing new downloadable games every week.

Baine, I believe if you go to Nintendo's website, they have all the games listed available to download. They also tell you if the Wii-mote is compatible with the games or if you have to use the Gamecube controller or the new Classic controller they have for sell.

BTW, the Wii is absolutely backwards compatible with the Gamecube games and can play ANY game that was released on the Cube and can read it's memory cards. They even have four slots on top just for the Gamecube controllers if you have a Gamecube at home.

I have one and one friend come over to play some nights.

The tennis is fun, as is the boxing.

We also like the silly shooting game - with the aliens!

I love playing my Nintendo Wii! Ever since my dad got it for me, I've been hooked! I can't stop playing Zelda! This is actually the first Zelda game where I didn't need to buy a guide book!

A friend of mine told me that Wii is alot of fun with the sports games, but the other games are a little bit harder, but who knows. Apparently, my aunt, uncle, and cousin got one and they are really into it.

A couple of games that I think would be fun would by Harry Potter and Ghostbusters(coming out in Oct).

I was considering asking for one for Christmas, but then I did some research and found that they were sold out and you had to be on a waiting list or something similar. So, I'm actually saving up for a PS3 for a few reasons. One, you can get your hands on one easier than the Wii. Two, my current system, the original Xbox is broken and obsolete(sp). Three, I would get a 360 but they have that techinical glitch that comes with them, the rings of death or whatever they are called, and Four, in October of this year they are releasing Ghostbusters The Videogame and there are two different versions of the game but with the same story and the version for Wii, PS2, and DS looks more like a cartoon and the version for PS3, 360, and PC looks more like you're watching the movie and that's the version I want, but I'll probably get both.

I was at the gym and this thought hit me and I have a goal set for next Christmas(it might be too early, but who cares). After I get done with getting a PS3, I'll save up and not really spend too much except for gas, food, and the Sweeney Todd dvd and around the time the Ghostbusters videogame comes out, when I go to get it, I'll see about picking up a Wii for my dad for Christmas. My sister told me that Wii's are apparently great for people diagnosed with Alzheimers and seeing that my dad is one of those people, I think it would be great for him and everyone else.

Can I just say, who would think after so many years of videogame systems where it was basically just sitting and playing that one system would come along and actually requires you to do more than hit buttons?

Ghostbusters is being designed for the XBox 360.

It's an extremely graphically advanced game and the Wii either wouldn't be able to handle it or it'd look far less impressive graphically.

Whereas the Wii game play is innovative and it is technically a next generation machine, graphically it is much closer to the original XBox and the PS2 than it is the XBox 360 and the PS3.
