I can't wait to hear it! I assume that's what he's performing at the AMA's. Daughtry, Carrie and Kelly Clarkson are also all performing that night. It's going to be an Idol dominated show!

Just saw Adam's album cover...
I think I like it, but I feel - and I'm sure I'm not the only one - that this is an incredibly ballsy move, possibly on the wrong side of 'unique' for mainstream America.
I get that he's all about glam, but beforehand it was more rock and roll...this is more tranny. A lot of make up/photoshopping going on and there's nothing strong and masculine - yet androgynous - about it - which he usually projects.
I guess it doesn't really matter, it'll do well...but something along the lines of 'Details' shoot might have been better suited. Lady GaGa has kind of carved the way for quirky/out of the ordinary artists amongst the manufactured...but even she started quite restrained (in comparison to now) to not alienate too much.

I agree, it's definitely VERY VERY ballsy. Because it IS like.. VERY androgynous! But yet, I really LIKE that it's so ballsy, because when has Adam ever been okay with playing it safe?
I for one am pretty darn captivated by it. And I'm hoping that, even if some people will be a little turned off by it, other people will be super captivated and intrigued by it as well! I reeeally think it'll at least catch peoples attention, and that's a very good thing.
It took me a minute to come around to it, but the more I look at it, the more I'm like.. yup, I wouldn't expect anything less from Adam!
Besides, he really does have a ridiculously effing gorgeous face. like woah. Those EYES O-O

Yeah, okay, so upon further reflection here's my thought:
I DO still love the picture at it's core. I think his expression and everything is stunning.
What's making so many people dislike it (and find it laughable, which actually worries me), is almost purely the airbrushing and the crappy text and stuff I think.
I just want to like.. go to the people at RCA RIGHT NOW and make them sit down with the original picture, not touch his skin one bit with airbrushing, and come up with some better additional artwork for it.
The OTT-ness of the picture itself DOES work. But I do NOT freaking understand why RCA constantly seems to think people look better when they're made to look like barbie dolls! They do this with ALL the contestants, but it's just especially horrendous with this because the cover is already fantastical enough without making his face look fake. If his face DIDN'T look so fake, the concept would absolutely work in my opinion.
I still DO like it personally, but it's also worrying me to think that a lot of people who don't know Adam as an artist yet might see the cover and totally laugh him off without even giving the music a shot. And what's really frustrating is that it could so easily be a great cover! They just did way too much too crapily with something that was starting out eccentric in the first place. They need to go back to the original, find some better less campy font to use for the text, and then leave it alone

^See, now, that picture is super sexy because it looks NATURAL! He has amaazing freckles and although he may have some skin issues, some simple flattering lighting and *very light* face makeup like bare minerals can make them nearly unnoticable, but still natural looking.

See, the androgyny of the look itself I don't mind. I mean I think the eye makeup is incredible, and the hair looks like bird feathers! So pretty haha
It's the skin, in combination with the text and the background. Take the un-photoshopped picture (freckles and all), put it against a black background, and get some simpler less "zomg glittery and fierce!" text, and we'd be in business! That would be just the right amount of captivating without seeming gimmicky. And it would still be glam, too. But the way they did it, it's super gimmicky. And it just frustrates me because I'm seeing so much potential for a really cool cover there. haha

As a whole, it looks quite effeminate right? But it's actually got a serious duality thing going on

I don't like the cover, but that's not going to keep me from buying the album. I don't buy albums because of what the cover looks like.
From the other side, snl I wouldn't buy an album either just because of the album cover. So people that hadn't heard the music aren't going to buy or not buy it because of the cover.
Does that make sense?

It's obvious that he shouldn't be wearing the heavy foundation, but he probably would be better off without the foundation all together. (Concealer, sure.) Masking the freckles on his face just makes the freckles on his lips look gross. Plus, the freckles would probably distract from the acne scarring, whereas the foundation just draws attention.
Anyway. His single is going to debut this morning, so I'm sure this thread will see a few more comments.
