"evil Adam haters" ? jeez, orange, I was pointing out what a nit-picker she was, when she was fortunate enough to get a photo with him. its so unlike you to twist what people say and exaggerate to make your point.
but what ever, I like this thread for basicly the same reason as Guitar girl,
" I like that about this thread as well. I've always liked and respected Adam more for his work in theater and with his own music. His talent, in general."
Brina, "craptastic is the perfect word to discribe his clothes! I love it!
Emcee. I'm sure you're right regarding the pigeonholing thing, but still, the Phantom is probably the last part I'd think of for him. I'd love to know what attracts him to it. Billy Flynn I can totally see, and I think he'd knock everyone's socks off.
I hope I didn't give the impression that I think we should stop making jokes about Adam's funnier quirks. Au contraire. I'm just so happy about what I've been reading these last few days, old Rentheads saying that he's much better than before, people saying his voice has improved, that he's become a real actor. It's about as good as it could get.
The only thing that really annoys me is when people saw he and Anthony are too old for the roles. Obviously, they've just proved otherwise.
that "too old" talk annoyed me also. I noticed it was mostly before they started the run. Since they've actually appeared on stage, I haven't heard anyone say that they're too old. I am loving the positive reviews they're getting.

Before I went today, I thought along the same lines. I said that they were too old. I now eat my words, for everyone to see.
I didn't remember you saying that, dancing, but it's classy of you to take it back. Anything strike you in particular this afternoon?
robin, my post wasn't necessarily meant as a personal attack. I just heard some news that really frustrated me regarding fans at the stagedoor, so even the "nitpicking" comment hidden on someone's Facebook isn't that bad in comparison to what other people have said and done.
as distant observer, this fan-stagedoor situation is getting scarier and scarier. some of the behavior discribed by posters, is appalling. I am getting worried for the safety of Adam and Anthony as well as everyone there. All the Actors and audience.
I'm concerned that , if something isn't done, some one will get hurt.
As, someone so close to the show, Skittles, I bet you've seen plenty of rudeness and appalling behavior, but it seems like its getting dangerous. Something should be done, but will anything?
I'm not sure what struck me so much, really. I guess it was just finally seeing them live.
People have been saying they're amazing. The fact that they can do it again, and very well, is proof that they're not too old.
They ARE amazing. I just had that doubt in the back of my mind until I actually saw them.
I can see what you mean, though. It's been a long time for them. But it's awesome that they are amazing, and I can't wait to see them. 21 more days (I think)...
I really just do not understand the "too old" thing. People make the argument without acknowledging that there have been actors throughout the entire run who were in their mid-thirties. It isn't a problem because Adam and Anthony are 35/6. It's a problem because that information is inevitably very public.
Amazing doesn't even BEGIN to cover them. They are... I don't even know. Powerful and intense and beautiful and... perfect.
Chloe, exactly. I was kind of like, "Phantom? What? Really?" I'd certainly see it, but I can't really picture it -- it's the last thing I'd expect. I can see him making a great Billy Flynn -- not only does the role require talent, but further, it's reliant on sex appeal and charm.
I would go see Adam as Billy Flynn.
I guess I just fell into the "too old" thing because they were in the show so long ago. I was wrong.
Well, neither of them have ever really looked their ages.
They don't look old. Which is good. Anthony looks o different than 10 years ago, which is amazing. Must be something in his water. :P
Jesse Martin, in the BWW video, said he thought they were too old but was proved wrong.
I didn't mean to imply the behavior was dangerous. Just generalized stupidity. The Rent people are doing the best they can considering how off-guard they were all caught with the stagedoor chaos. Yes, other shows do better, but those others shows have just opened, have big stars and previously arranged for a stagedoor crowd. Rent hasn't had to deal with crowds like this for 10 years. They're dragging in stagehands and ushers to work at the stagedoor instead of having actual, designated security. I'm sure they'll be bringing in someone else to cover that, but that takes more time than the few days they've actually been back to arrange.
Well, neither of them have ever really looked their ages.
You got me there.
The stagedoor definitely needs some fixing. They've got the barricades up, but people are still waiting in the street. Hopefully, that will get resolved soon. Today the crowd was so nuts that what I could only assume to be Mary Poppins cast/crew were watching out the window and pointing. They were amazed.
Yeah, I think they might still be trying to find an alternative method. I hope they find something that works better. :/
I was squished, but nothing too serious.

The stagedoor situation was dangerous the first night, but I think they're doing the best they realistically can. There is only so much the workers can do. I haven't seen anyone literally get trampled, but look, if you're willing to put yourself in a situation where hundreds of people are pressed against each other in a frenzied attempt to get autographs, you're accepting the risk that it may not be the most safe situation.

^ oh no! hope you're okay

Exactly. I have a feeling that by the time they figure something out, their run will be over.
Robin, I found that sweat stain thing to be random too. It's certainly not the first time someone has posted something like that on Adam's myspace, it's not that big a deal and I'm sure he takes it in stride, but I agree that it's just sort of odd, lol
At this point, the only viable alternatives might safer or more efficient ways to arrange the barricades. It's going to be borderline insane no matter what.

I wonder if there's going to be a candelight vigil when they leave, á la Idina in Wicked
I hope not, but it wouldn't surprise me.
