EXACTLY Polly! (PS: some of my guy buddies use them, or at least have taken my stash and used them...)
That's funny Tink, at least he's coming around right? See, if he wore a Bruce Springsteen shirt or an Elvis Costello one he'd win my dad over in a heart-beat. But my ma has to be Pink Floyd, otherwise she could care less; 'cuz Iron Maiden is not a favorite in my household
Brina, I wasn't talking about his face.
*probably just gave away too much about myself*
haha, I knew what you were getting at MYB.
em - that is great that you guys can still share stuff like that after all of this time and distance.
I had a feeling you weren't talking about his face MYB; I was just trying to change the subject at hand
LOL!
Btw...Adam would have to be wearing a Neil Diamond t-shirt to turn my parents' heads. My mom liked him a lot in Aida, though, but we didn't talk about his physical attributes.

Oh man, I don't even want to think about my mom sitting through Aida. She either would have left or fallen asleep, lol.
brina, I posted your avatar pic on another thread a few days ago. I love that movie!!
My dad might be won over by Guns 'n Roses. My mom...Bon jovi, maybe? She likes a few artists...
One of my best friends was turned onto Adam because he can play guitar.
i agree with your parents GG. i love both GNR & bon jovi. and my new guitar came today! woo hoo!
You got a new guitar? Awesome! What kind?
I only like GNR a bit, but my best friend loves them. And i love Bon Jovi.
Adam might like them-he likes older rock bands.

I'm not a big fan of 80s hair bands. I totally missed that boat, lol.
Someone should post the pic of Adam from his Mute cd on his myspace - that's good enough proof of his 80s Bob Jovi hair!

i think they did. it's nothing special just a generic pink 38" guitar. i haven't played in a very long time so i just got a cheapy off ebay to relearn on. but i'm just bouncy that it came, & it was brand new not used like i thought. the only reason i got a pink one was to keep my boys from messing with it lol. i'd have preferred a blue or black one. when i get better, i'll get a nice one. and i'll give the pink one to my daughter
Aw, that's nice. :)
I'm not such a fan most of those bands.
Finally, someone appreciates the Chipmunk Adventure movie!! I swear that was my childhood in a nutshell; and I just rediscovered it on Youtube a few days ago. Such a sweet flick!
I loooooooved the Chipmunks when I was little, but I don't think I've seen the movie. Maybe it came out a little late for me...aka, maybe I was too old by then.
But I'm so nostalgic and into animation now that I'm sure I'd probably love it.
Has anyone seen Rent from around row C in the mezz? How would that be for someone seeing it for the first time?
that is where I was on Tuesday Chloe. Center mezz Row C on the aisle towards right mezz. They were just fine and I had the two people seeing it with me for the first time too.
brina- you know you can buy that movie on DVD,right? It's one of my favorites too! The part with the penguin gets me every single time.
Thanks, Tink!
I have to say, after seeing Adam a couple of times in Rent, I completely agree with those who believe he belongs on Broadway. Aida a couple of years ago didn't convince me of that, and when he moved to LA I wasn't as disappointed as some of you were. Now I just hope there's some way for him to come back to the stage soon.
I didn't know it was on DVD Luckystar, I'll have to put that on my Christmas wish list!
I really can't give a direct opinion on how well Adam performs live (either on stage or touring) due to the fact I have yet to actually SEE him perform; but I really hope new stage material is in his near future. From the reviews I've read (and a few snippets of Youtubing) he seems to be a very good actor, not just a 'performer'. I've always felt that there are the actors and then the performers; some individuals can blend the two of these things perfectly (ala Raul Esparza) while some can only do either or, not both. I personally think that Adam has finally nailed the combo of both worlds, and this can only lead to greater things. But that's just my two cents
I dunno. I think Raúl is clearly an actor who sings, and Adam a singer who acts. They both transition between the two worlds well enough that they can each create a very powerful, effective combination of them, but I do think that in those terms, they're pretty categorically different.
Well-said, Em. I completely agree. I've always felt that Adam's charisma comes primarily from his voice, and how he uses it to emote.
I was pleasantly surprised to see a rather large RENT display at my local Borders just now. I ran in to pick up a copy of the Times, and right over by the registers they have a nice display of any and every RENT- related item you could possibly want. I know I didn't see any of it when I went in about two weeks ago, so I'm assuming that there's an excited fan lurking in the Borders staff.
Right. As good an actor as Adam has become, he still emotes best when he sings.
I think that's true, but for whatever reason he seems to be expanding beyond that now. A case in point is the line "maybe a little bird told her." It was overly arch on the OBCR, and pretty much the same on 7/30. This past Tuesday he said it quite differently. It was natural and effective.
