re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

Ugh, I know, Ash. I totally thought the Stokes concert was a few days earlier. That would make things easier. And cheaper. Clearly they should have put more thought into coordinating schedules. Adam and Anthony should have checked with Stokes to see it worked for him.

Yo. Couple things... re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

1. Yes, they are extending. I'm not sure when it'll be officially announced for real, but they are staying.
2. Gwen was out and Kelly was on as Maureen tonight. I was really happy, because I think she's an excellent Maureen. Tamyra is getting better, I think -- she's taking a few more risks, which is nice to see.
3. They're trying a new barricade formation at the stage door -- it's a line that traps the actors by the building with the car at the end. Hopefully it works.
5. I pulled a couple of strings and got to see Adam one-on-one. He was lovely. I'm a little... embarassingly giddy.
4. My brother LOVED Adam and Anthony -- he was totally speechless afterward. I had fun with him.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

Emcee, you mean there will now be a line that files past the actors, or the actors walk past? I'm trying to picture what you've described and I don't think I'm getting it. Nice you got to see Adam - what did he have to say?

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

That's how they did it tonight, but maybe just to try something different. If it works better, I suppose they'll stick to it. But yes; there's a line that they'll walk down, as opposed to being surrounded on both sides.

I told him how wonderful he was like five times. So he mostly just said thank you. re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

From the NY Times:

Elsewhere on Broadway, since Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp returned to the cast of “Rent” in roles they first played in 1996, ticket sales have nearly doubled. So the two have extended their comeback by a month, to Oct 7

That must be a nice ego boost. re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

It's never possible to hear how wonderful one is too much, so I'm sure he appreciated it. So the official word is out now, from the NY Times Arts Briefly column:

Elsewhere on Broadway, since Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp returned to the cast of “Rent” in roles they first played in 1996, ticket sales have nearly doubled. So the two have extended their comeback by a month, to Oct 7.

Heh, I'm intrigued! Did you stage door? Maybe you can explain the formation a little better.

Ugh, I'm so tired. It's way too early.

Glad you had fun, Emcee!

I hope the new stagedoor thing works out. Now they have 4 more weeks to perfect it...

Emcee, you're so lucky! I'm jealous that you got to see Adam. I'm glad your brother enjoyed the show, and that the tickets didn't go to waste!

wow to this whole extension thing, but good for them! I wonder if Adam's happy about it, or if he was looking forward to it being over with.

I'm a little fuzzy on the logistics of this new stage door setup myself, but I'll see for myself tomorrow. Maybe it will help things out?

btw skittles - I can vouch that being a nanny is a great job, and good pay.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

Adam might be happy, considering how happy he was to be back in general. Anthony might be too, but I'm less sure.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

See I was thinking it was the opposite, but who knows. I'm sure both of them are happy because the other is still doing it, you know? Plus I'm sure it's encouraging that their return is improving ticket sales so much.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

I thought it was the opposite for their original 6-week plan, but Adam seemed happier than Anthony, which was surprising.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

Glad you had a great time, Emcee. Maybe the chaos of Saturday prompted them to create a new stagedoor arrangement... that's unbreachable. Or something.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

I love how candid Adam was in those videos. And happy. The interview on Broadway.com was really good as well (the non-video one).

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

I want to give everyone an update about the stage door before I run out the door to the doctor. I think there's a conspiracy going around, I was fine yesterday and woke up this morning feeling like there are razor blades in my throat. No fun.

So the stage door setup is making so much more sense! I was going to try to take a picture but I'm not good at multitasking so you'll have to imagine it. Previously, the barricades were set up so that one set of double doors were between them, and everybody crowded around on both sides. Last night, they had one barricade against the left side of the last set of double doors, and then the barricades blocked everyone out in kind of an L shape. You could only stand next to the building on the left side of the barricade and everyone else was basically in front where the getaway cars used to be. They moved the cars to the end of the barricade all the way to the right of the theater. It took me ages to get out of the theater, and I was pleasantly surprised to be about two people back on the left of the barricades. I made friends with the two taller people in front of me, and they passed my playbill up for me so I could get both Anthony and Tamyra to sign. There was a lot of passing of playbills going on, minimal screaming, and hardly any pushing. The cops hung around for a while, but once they saw that things were in control, most of them left or went down the street. We all waited for Adam, but it's probably best that he didn't come out because I'm sure things would've gotten out of hand. It was actually pretty cool because the tall guy in front of me and I got to talking, and it turns out that he has a family friend in the NYTW and has seen Rent in the workshop, off- Broadway, opening night on Broadway, and in London. He had some interesting stories.

Why are they extending? My bank account totally can't handle this! Based on the look on his face when he walked on stage last night, I would say Adam is definitely having a blast.

Confirmation!

I hope you feel better, LuckyStar.

The stage door arrangement sounds interesting. I wonder if they'll keep it.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

I want to be happy but yet I am aggravated. I purposely didn't book a trip that weekend because of the "final" show. My own fault I know, but still aggravating!

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

I had a strep test which sucked, but the conclusion at the doctors was that I have some sort of virus. I'm going to start calling it the Nederlander plague.

I really hope they keep the stage door the way it is. I don't know if I explained it well at all, but it makes SO much more sense than what they had before. Between the rain and the new setup, people last night were even able to pose for pictures with Tamyra and actually have a quick chat with Anthony.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

Well, Adam certainly seems to be having a great time. And I'm sure Anthony is thrilled to stay as long as they'll have him. I think Anthony was just really tired in those videos -- not unhappy -- and also... well, probably not as drunk as Adam was. re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

That stage door situation sounds better. That's what I was thinking they should have been doing from the get-go.

I hope you feel better, LuckyStar! If I start coughing and sneezing, I guess I'll know why. re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, Part 13!

Emcee, where did you end up sitting? I'm glad you and your brother had a great time.

I'm trying to properly organize my thoughts to type up a bit of a review. The people next to me never clapped. Once. At all. It was the weirdest thing ever. If you heard someone's cell phone making hopping noises during Your Eyes, it was them. And one woman was laughing during Goodbye Love. The girls on the other side of me sprinted out during the bows, which was rude considering we were in the 4th row, dead center. The funny thing was that I ended up right next to them at the stage door.

I'm pretty sure someone has mentioned this here before, but you weren't kidding when you said that Adam is a fan of staring into the audience. If I had known we would have so much eye contact all night I probably would've put some makeup on before I left the house. It was distracting at times, and it leads me to believe that I would be completely incapable of ever having a conversation with him because he makes me nervous. :)
