I remember hearing a date of 4/30 for Blinding Light, anyone know if that is still on?
I was wondering that recently. The 30th is fast approaching!
I wish I had all the Adam Pascal CDs in the world. That way I can listen to one at a time after another.
The 30th is fast approaching and we've heard nothing about it in weeks. I wouldn't be surprised if the 30th comes and all we get is a blog saying the release is delayed.
Yeah, me neither.

Oh, of course, I'm sure that's an issue of utmost importance in their daily lives.

"Song for New Orleans" (Adam Pascal)
OH, EW. He couldn't give a song with that title to someone I take a little more seriously? Should have switched his and Luther Creek's tracks, Luther Creek is a man with a little gravitas.
Speaking of the upcoming (shelved, lol) album? This irritated me:
"Pascal's first two albums, Model Prisoner and Civilian, were on small independent labels and sold about 15,000 and 25,000 copies, respectively, he said. He is releasing Blinding Light on his own label.
"I have the means to do it myself, and it didn't make sense for me to continue to make records and just give somebody else all the money,' he said. "If I sold 100,000 records, which is not a completely outrageous number, I would make more money than if I sold 5-million records for a commercial label.'"
First off, something about his attitude seems ungrateful to Sh-K-Boom. Who charity signed him, just like half their recordings are charity for the good of the Broadway community. Second, I think he's including illegal downloads from broadway sharing communities in his estimates for what Model Prisoner and Civilian sold. Third, considering his history in the business and his complete lack of business savvy and the lackluster material he's been playing publicly for years now, I kind of doubt that Blinding Light is going to singlehandedly sell more than twice what his previous two (undoubtedly superior) efforts sold. Fourth, since Larry wrote 75% of it, who wants to bet most of the proceeds go towards filling up Larry's SUV with gasoline for the next year two months after its release?
Clay Aiken
He has a label?
This has Larry written all over it....I think Adam should've stayed with Sh-K-Boom, and I'm really surprised he left them. It's not like he wasn't doing well with them. And...most successful artists are on a commercial label.
GuitarGirl, I completely agree with everything you said in your post.

"He has a label? "
Seriously. Which label is that?
Heh, seriously. I guess anyone can have a label? And I agree as well, skittles. I'm sad he's not working with Sh-k-Boom anymore. They do such great work. This just seems like a step backward. And I'm sad that he seems to be letting Larry take the reins on this project more and more, but that's a separate issue.

Well, I guess the label thing is mostly a financial motivation, which I can understand.
Right, so can I, on practical terms. But it's still disappointing. Not to be an idealist, but you know what I mean -- it's the same discussion we've all had before.

Right, I know. But I mean, should we be surprised? hehe.
I don't understand the logic behind the "financial motivation" of the label thing. It's not as though ShKBoom is gouging his profits in the same way a normal record label would. If anything, they were using it to cover the cost of promotion- of which we've seen none for this CD. So there's the rub. Is he going to sell enough CDs with no promotion to make up for the fees and percentage ShKBoom would have taken and be able to claim a "profit" over what Civilian made?

I think we might already know the answer to that last question. Haven't you seen his website? Just call him Adam Promotion Pascal...

I just came here to say how awful I think the production sounds. I know that these kinds of criticisms don't mean much coming from me anymore, but I actually really liked Single Drop Of You for a while there, and if I were still invested in the same way I would have found what he just uploaded to be a major disappointment. If that's how one of the better songs came off, I can just imagine what he'll do with that recent crop of nauseating "Epics".
Every single cheesy low-fi decision they could have made, they made. It's like Larry Edoff meets Mute. It's like it was produced by whoever made Manoel Felciano's album. It's like just a step above Harley Jay's (which I believe legitimately used karaoke tracks). Okay, it's possible I listen to way too many Broadway actor solo albums for the purpose of mockery.
No, you know what it is? It's comparable to Dreamz by Wilson Jermaine Heredia. That epic masterpiece of 97, that clearly never got the CD release it deserved.
A reminder of that beautiful song.

Defaming your good name was unintentional. I just thought "cheesy" was kinder than "mawkish and ghastly".
I was just trying to go easy on old Adam.
