re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

i posted the video because i found the video and thought you'd want to see it. i am no one's sock puppet. ilana has never directly asked me to post anything on here or anywhere else for that matter. so anything i have posted here is because i wanted to not because she asked me to, including the facebook/iLike info.

if you have something to say to her, say it to her.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

While I'm waiting for the inevitable attempt at a topic change, I just wanted to add that I, for one, have nothing wrong with publicity for the guy in itself. There's nothing wrong in adding a video to myspace or making some sort of Facebook account. However, the manner in which it's being handled is unprofessional and appalling, not to mention insulting toward anyone with anything more than a lukewarm IQ.

ilana has never directly asked me to post anything on here or anywhere else for that matter.

... and wow, really, Cheryl? I was going to respect your wishes and not bring it up on here, but considering you told me quite a different story yesterday and are now lying through your teeth and thus insulting my (and our) intelligence, I'm calling you on it.

Funny, no one would know about the videos or the Facebook account if it wasn't for your shilling.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

It's not only that it's insulting toward anyone with more than a lukewarm IQ, but also to people who more or less, have followed his career for a heck of a lot longer than you.

And before anyone jumps me for saying that, I am in no way claiming to be that person myself. But do remember that you're talking to a group of people who have followed the ins and outs of his career (and yes, his management included) since the very beginnings.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

Honestly, very little of this is concrete to me, but I have to say, it looks fishier and fishier by the minute.

And frankly, you may want to be a little bit graceful about whose intelligence you insult. For all you know, people around here could be have few less degrees of separation than you think.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

And the thing about this fandom is that you get to know other fans, especially when you've been around for a while. It looks weird when a fan you've never come across suddenly comes into a group of people who've spent years following his career and seem to have access to all this knowledge. I'm not saying one should have more of a right to be "in" than the other, but you seriously can't question why we'd be so skeptical to believe it.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

It's all very clear now why we were specifically asked questions about Adam's management in the Fuse interview. I feel manipulated and as if my thoughtful responses just played into self-interest.

Lexi, I doubt that documentary will ever be shown on Fuse in any capacity (or that there were ever concrete plans to do so in the first place). She probably just used it to take notes for her sales pitch to Adam for her services. re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2 We might as well just start referring to it as "Ilana's Audition Reel" instead of the documentary.

Too bad you didn't tell him yourself- YOU could have been his next manager based on these standards.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

I think that's the most bothersome thing about this -- whoever is going to take on these managerial duties needs to be professional about it. Is that really too much to ask? And keeping yourself flanked by two fans who are going to guard your big secret plan, insulting the intelligence of people whose approval they seem to seek, is the complete opposite of professional. There's a way to keep things under wraps in a professional manner. Informing a select few who are then, disguised as helpful promotion, going to take this condescending attitude of secrecy about it is not professional. You take a position outside of the fanbase and you keep it under wraps -- you don't become involved with it on that level. Because then it's inevitably going to turn into a game of who can be more "in" than anybody else, and this person who is supposed to be in a professional position of psuedo-authority is promoting that -- fuelling the fire, so to speak.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

Agreed.

I honestly don't see what's so fucking hard about just hiring an actual manager who specifically went to school for this type of promotion (like Jenna is) with a modicum of distance between him/her and the fans. Is that really too much to ask? That's what I was hoping for when I contributed my thoughts to the Audition Reel™ when they asked me about Adam's management (or lack thereof), not all of this unprofessional behavior.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

Exactly. There are entire agencies full of experienced professionals that could (should) be placed in control, especially at this point of slow decline in his career. A few months ago, he didn't want a manager. I wouldn't be surprised if this was all because he was convinced he needed SOMEONE, but was too lazy to seek out (and pay) anyone who could do a proper job of it.

The whole fan-cum-manager thing has shades of Selena. I can't wait for Jennifer Lopez to play Adam in the movie.

For God's sake, I'm yet to even GET my degree, and when I do, it'll be in a useless conglomeration of humanities, and *I* could be his manager if this is what's going to go on.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

I just don't like the fact that the "newer" fans are glorifying the fact that there supposedly closer to Adam then we are or have better tie in's then others do. Since I am still considered a newbie next to the rest of you; I personally find this very insulting. Not all of Adam's fans want to be his personal manager; but for those who are tryng to it's giving others a very bad rep. you know?

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

lexi, i told you that ilana asked me to post that on bww? because i would love to see that exact text that says "Yes, Ilana told me to post this on BWW".

if you want to twist my words fine, so be it. i used the generic term "post it" in my message to you. she never said, "Cheryl I want you to post this on BWW." She told me about the page and people need to go look at it, it's new, it's exciting. What a better place to bring that info than to a thread of Adam fans? I "posted it" on Live journal and MySpace too. So how is any of that blatenly lying to you? Again, if you have an issue with her take it up with her, i'm not the only one in this thread that has access to her. As I know some of you are "friends" with her on myspace/facebook.

i am in no way glorifying that i'm closer to adam than anyone here. many of you have seen him more times than i have and have probably had more encounters than me asking him about his wrist at the stage door.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

I haven't really posted here in a bit, placement is more intense than I thought, but I've been following this debate and wanted to add my two cents in. Everyone has basically covered my thoughts, I too am calling bull, but their thoughts have covered everything I need to say there. I think I find it more insulting that you switch topics pretending that you never treated us as idiots, and when that topic dies you start up another one to keep yourself involved. Now this thread starts up random topics all the time, but it's the undertones in your changes that bothers me. When you feed us all this bull**** you do talk like you're better than us, and when you switch topics it's like you treat it like it never happened.

It also bothers me that you are measuring bigger/better fans by encounters. I've never met him but that doesn't mean I like him less, it's geography and I can't help that. I've heard information from other girls in the past and never felt like an idiot or a lesser person from it. You want to give information great, but give out information not bits and pieces that we're allowed to hear and keep the rest to yourself. That's not what this community is about.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

I don't think all this is what we had in mind at all when we suggested that Adam get a manager.

I feel like whoever is behind all this is like the Wizard of Oz. Now I understand that things are probably still in the works, in terms of centralizing all Adam's information and authorizing it, and whatnot. But I suggest, to the people who are involved, that they hold their tongue until things are completely settled before giving us these little nuggets of information and then withholding their source. Although at this point, I think it's pretty clear who the source is. I'm not insulting Ilana or anyone else involved in this, and no, I don't see Cheryl claiming to be a better Adam fan than the rest of us, but this sort of behavior is just perpetuating the gossip girl tendencies of Adam's fandom.

I was saying to Emcee last night (and I'll repeat it now) that the best thing for Adam to do is hire a manager who is not his fan. Or at least hire a manager..

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

if you want to twist my words fine, so be it. i used the generic term "post it" in my message to you.

Positing that you had to specify BWW in "post it" for her claim to be factual is wrongly arguing semantics. If you admitted that you were suggested to post it, it doesn't matter whether it was on BWW, MySpace, Livejournal, or Datalounge for all I care.

Cheryl, I feel like you have a strict policy of ignoring blatant negativity directed towards you, which I guess is understandable. But for every mean comment you ignore, you're also ignoring valid questions and criticisms. On top of the coyness, the avoidance is not helping your case. The only reason your case would potentially matter would be that some (ambitious to be?)official representative of Adam has unleashed you upon his fans to represent his career and his fandom.

Bad PR.

Not all of us are as dumb as the MySpace fans. I would steer from blatant rudeness towards a faction of fans, but you know firsthand (from them whining about me in your MySpace comments) that they were needlessly and ignorantly awful to me. My point in mentioning them is that you shouldn't try and gauge the overall sentiment towards your and Ilana's behavior by their positive reactions. It's easy to capture the lowest common denominator.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

I think we're entirely justified in remaining skeptical about this whole enterprise, Cheryl. You've done very little to inspire confidence - earnest proclamations that it's our prerogative to trust you or not just don't to it for me - so you can hardly condemn us for reserving judgement about this "publicity."

I don't want to rely on anonymous "trustworthy" fans for my knowledge of Adam's career. While it's great that Adam's fans are eager to promote his work, fans do not constitute professional management. Lexi, a while ago you wrote a very articulate post about why the haphazard nature of Adam's career is so frustrating, and this business only serves to affirm that. I'll try to assume that your intentions are merely helpful, Cheryl, but all of your secretive "promotions" are not helping Adam's career in the way you obviously believe they are. Just look at the responses you're getting.

And honestly? For all your accusations about the elitism abounding here, I could easily say the same for someone whose avatar blatantly proclaims fan superiority.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

I don't think there's anything wrong with the things that are being done, and I'm sure anyone in the same position would be doing the same. The Facebook page? Great. Linking it on his MySpace where people already know he is? Smart. I just think that it looks odd when something new comes up, and then it's immediately posted. And you know what? Technically, I can't even find anything wrong with that except that it just makes me raise my eyebrows. The whole Broadway fan community is so different because the fans CARE. They're invested.

I'm sick of arguing something no one can change. It's just unfortunate that something that fans have been wanting for YEARS (better PR/management) is causing this type of reaction.

Yup, Ariella. You said everything I was trying to.
