re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

Other than us, she claims she's only received positive responses and emails.

... from whom? Does anyone seriously care about a sparse Facebook page and a Beautiful Song video enough to fire off a bunch of emails about how awesome they are? The only reason why we paid any attention to them at all was due to the poor promotion techniques.

I got an email from Jill Paice yesterday afternoon, and I was surprised that I got it, because I didn't come home until like about eight o'clock last night.

Not sure who Jill Paice is and what that has to do with anything being discussed in this thread, but congrats, I guess.

yeah, I didn't get that either. But I just attributed it to my constant state of confusion - exacerbated by too much turkey re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

Oh, and apparently, we should expect the official Adam website before Monday!

Personally, I wouldn't hold your breath for anything more than a "site under construction" graphic.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

A new one, I gather.

I like puzzles, and my cryptogram for the day yielded an aphorism about being sure to look at both sides of any question before committing oneself. I want to be as fair as I can, and have been revolving all these issues over in my mind today. For instance, I think it's possible that we were too quick to assume that there was manipulation going on in the interviews. However, that doesn't negate the fact that questions about whether one would be willing to buy an Adam magnet is market reseaerch, not appropriate material for a documentary. That lack of candor is typical of this whole sorry mess.

I think it also may be possible that Ilana doesn't understand that the hierarchies of the ordinary world simply don't apply on the internet. Being older or having a prestigious job doesn't matter nearly as much as what someone can bring to the table in a site, blog or post. Again however, this only points up the fact that she is not nearly as qualified to run Adam's internet PR as she seems to think she is.

Right, especially when she made mention to me that I should look for new merchandise at his upcoming shows. It's very hard for me to believe that those questions weren't asked with some sort of intent to get a feel for what publicity on her part would prove worthwhile.

Of course, there is NOTHING wrong with asking fans if they would buy an Adam magnet or t-shirt, and there's nothing wrong with asking fans what websites they check for information. But ask us in a survey, not when shooting a documentary about his career.

Not just magnets. Shirtless magnets. I found it weird at the time and even more inappropriate and offensive now.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

Clearly they only asked about the shirtless magnets was because YOU implied you wanted to be asked about shirtless magnets. Their questions were formed based on what you said! re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

wait - are you serious, or is this an inside joke? Please tell me they aren't actually creating and selling shirtless Adam magnets at his shows...

this is so not the way to foster credibility in his career. Not that that point hasn't been brought up here and elsewhere more than once..

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

No, no inside joke. They did ask us if we'd buy them, although I doubt they were being serious in thinking it was a good idea. On the other hand, they probably would sell...

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

As much a fan of shirtless Adam as I am, I really hope they don't do that. How cheesy

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

The impression I got from Lexi's comment about manipulation wasn't so much the assumption that manipulation was per se the intent, but rather than she FELT manipulated. Which, given the evidence, I can understand. Whether the goal was to use others' ideas as her own or not. I'd like to believe it wasn't, but nothing really seems genuine here.

I have a Civilian button on my bulletin board. Circa '04! Does that make me a candidate for market research?

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

She doesn't understand that she's coming off as an overzealous fan on a megalomaniacal quest to insinuate herself into his life and control his career. Which is ironic, because that's basically what she accused Lexi of.

Frankly, it would make me uncomfortable whether she were doing a good job or not. Let's hope for Adam's sake that he either becomes smart enough to hire some proper management (who will, in turn, be smart enough to excise her) or that she magically does a really damn super job.

On a more serious note, I would love to see Adam's mug merchandised on every media I've seen High School Musical advertised on at the gas station. I want nothing more in my life than a Paisley backgrounded Adam Pascal dog tag necklace with a mirror back. Mirror backed, so I can check my Adam Pascal lipgloss in shades Pascal Pink and C-C-C-Cinnamon Lips.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

Just to clear something up, I personally don't care if she uses any ideas I might have given to her at any point (I don't think I even gave too many real ideas). It's not a question of "stealing ideas," at least for me. My problem with the questions about the marketing and merchandise is that I felt the documentary crew (her included) was using an inappropriate avenue to solicit responses to those types of questions. If you're shooting a documentary about Adam's career, there's no need to ask those questions as part of the documentary. That's why we feel manipulated, as though the documentary crew wasn't entirely forthcoming with all of the reasons why they wanted to film this documentary.

To be fair, I want to mention that she said we were the only three asked about management and marketing. I don't know how much stock to put into that, though, considering the one other person I've spoken to who also did the documentary said those topics were prevalent. Judge for yourselves...

Which is ironic, because that's basically what she accused Lexi of.

Yeah, I'm not sure why the mentions from her of a) how she doesn't know why I want a part in her work if I feel her work is subpar, and b) how no artist wants to be told what to do by his fans. I never made any mention to her of wanting to be a part of her PR campaign, and although I discussed what I'd like to see from Adam in her documentary, this entire argument was not about what Adam should do as much as her own bad PR.

Basically, I don't think she saw where I was coming from, and perhaps I didn't see where she was coming from either. However, what bothered me more than anything was the extremely condescending attitude coupled with the repetitive insistences that she was being friendly.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

To continue on Craww's very serious note, how about Adam Pascal: On Ice? I mean, if those High School Musical kids can do it, why not him? I would expect lots of props.

At work today, I not only saw a woman in the most amazing paisley coat ever, (Adam would be jealous!) but I saw a woman who could be Skittles' older sister/ twin. It was a bit weird.

I hope everyone had an enjoyable Thanksgiving, and in Snowbird's case, an enjoyable Thursday. I'm still trying to sleep off all of the turkey I ate yesterday.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

Can someone fill me in on the time line here? When were you asked about marketing? I completely agree that it's fine for his 'managegment' to perform market research, but not under the guise of a documentary.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

We were asked about marketing on camera, when we were being interviewed for the documentary. It just stuck out as a little out of place to us in retrospect.

I haven't seen High School Musical, but how about the Rent OBC IN High School Musical? Those with more familiarity with High School Musical would probably be better at the specific casting suggestions. re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2
