ok now that I am awake I am not very happy with this site. Does it not almost feel like a slap in the face to those fans who have been waiting for this since the days of the Sh-k-boom forums? I think the other site is WAY nicer (the fan site).
However I am very excited that Mr. Pascal realized there needed to be some new things there that we havent seen, the video is awesome and although I dont agree with the photographers choices or adams sandles it is always nice to have new profesional pics to see.
I feel like after all of these years Adam is lisining to the wrong fans. For years all we had was shkboom and we stayed faithful, a few fans tried to get sites up and good bad or indifferent they were there with no agnoledgement from anything official. Now all of a sudden myspace, facebook, ilike, ok I get it that is how younger fans interact but to make the first "official" site soooo fan siteish??????????? I dont get it!

Oh, I totally didn't mean that on such an epic level, Em. And I don't at all think anyone here is jealous. I guess I'm just coming across completely inaccurately and I think you'r misunderstanding me, which isn't much of a surprise since I'm spouting all this without even REALLY know what it's all been about.
I just meant that it's a bummer when the passionate fanbase wants what they think is best and doesn't feel like they (or Adam, in this case) are getting it.
Nothing personal at ALL.
EDIT: And yes, the "official" site does look like an amateur fansite.

I almost feel bad for complaining because we've all talked about how he needs a website. Now that he has one, no one's pleased. It's almmost like he's doing himself an injustice by having such a mediocre site, though.
About having fans representing people: I feel like a broken record in saying this lately, but people who are fans shouldn't be in charge of anything to do with the artist. I'm sorry. You lose the objectivity you need because you're already biased. You're more likely to do things that YOU would like to see instead of acting on behalf of an entire group of fans or the artist himself. And unfortunately, it's usually the artist, the this case Adam, who suffers. It doesn't seem fair.
Anyway- the website. If you're going to have an official webpage, can the pictures NOT be from a cheap digital camera and blurry? Some of the page headings seem like I could've taken them. The one under "contact us" especially comes to mind. I like the idea of behind the scenes pics, but when half of the ones in the gallery are pixelated and blurry, it loses a lot of credibility.
Well, we were told it would be up Monday, and it probably went up at 11:59 on Monday night. Good job.

I think the website is great. I mean, it's very new so it'll get better over time, but I think it's really good so far.

so many new names, I must check this more often. really good? really? ... great? really? ... Listen I am far from all of the drama surronding this site, and I couldnt care less who made it, but it needs alot of work, and if it will "get better in time" that makes it worse. Why not wait to go live with it untill its better then? frst impressions!!!!!!!!!

Putting aside every last notion that I have about this woman and why she, for various reasons that I will not reiterate right now, should not be at the helm of any of Adam's "official" projects, I can still say that the website design objectively looks extremely unprofessional. If I didn't know that she was behind the website, I honestly and truly would still feel that is it not remotely aesthetically pleasing, down to the compressed jpgs, the blurry pictures, the overuse of that hideous blue bar graphic, and the scrolling "OFFICIAL ADAM PASCAL PAGE!!" (so something a 12-year-old teaching herself HTML would use in 1999, e.g. me). The unflattering pictures being used as headers are an issue as well, as is the fan forum, the guestbook, the picture-book, slighty inaccurate bio, the copyright issues with certain images... I could go on, but I don't want to continue to repeat myself.
The bottom line is when we were anxious for an official website, it was implicit in our desire that said page would look at least somewhat professional, not something that has a design far worse than what I created in 1999-2000. If it were borderline, I'd figure that we were just being bitchy, but it's downright unpleasant to view.

The problem is, like most things on this thread we're going to end up talking this one in circles without coming to a resolution. We're all basically in agreement about the website, and I guess we should just leave it at that, although there's nothing wrong with venting I suppose. I know I personally have devoted way more thought to the whole matter in the past week than I wanted to, and I don't think I'm alone when I say I could use a little break from the drama.

I agree that everyone could use a break from the drama (probably me most of all!), which is why I'm trying to focus on the actual content and design of the website rather than reverting to ad hominem insults (I can't believe I just dropped "ad hominem" on the Adam Pascal Love Thread). Since there is literally nothing else going on in Adam's career at the moment, I think it's pretty inevitable that we were going to end up discussing this for a while.

Thanks. I'm working on my thesis; it's about 20 times harder than I thought it was going to be. I'm taking the day off from classes today and just working until I can't work anymore. This is the hardest thing I've ever written.

May I reiterate that I think it's important to put some of these thoughts on either Adam's myspace or the new site? (In a constructive, pleasant way, of course.) Assuming he's not avidly following every word we say here, he's not going to have any other way of knowing that improvements need to be made. He admits he knows nothing about this stuff - I myself don't have a clue as to what's current in website design - and he needs to hear it from those who do.

I'm trying to figure out a nice way to phrase all of this. I don't think, "hey Adam, glad to see you've finally got a website, but I have to tell you, it sucks," is really gonna cut it.

Believe me Emcee, I don't think anyone is being bitchy given the situation! Although I just said I was done talking about all of this, I will just add that I find it very unfortunate that a lot of us here feel so burned by this entire process. The website that we were presented with isn't something that someone who has been waiting for a website for years can get excited about. I'm sure to a casual fan who will overlook the design it's really no big deal, and I'm not saying that in any "us vs. them" sort of way. I know if I'm just curious to get a little more information on an artist, the layout of their website really doesn't mean all that much to me, where if it's an artist I'm passionate about, I expect a little more. It's also unfortunate that this new website makes my computer freeze! :)
Emcee, I had a friend who wrote his thesis in three days without breaking a sweat! I think there's something very, very wrong with him! I've been throwing ideas around for mine, but I haven't gotten very far at all. Hopefully you'll be able to make a good dent in it today!

Oh, I didn't think you thought we were -- that was just sort of in general. If we were nitpicking something that was generally okay, we'd probably just be being mean. But this is like, full of glaring problems. I agree with what you just said.

The thing that bothers me the most is that it looks like it was thrown together just to get something up. It's been 10 years already, there's no reason why they had to rush it (other than the Monday deadline hinted at privately). They should have taken the time to make it good instead of this half-assed effort. (And it froze up my computer last night too.)
Does anyone know if Adam has any official representation? They have the email address into oblivion (I guess it's an improvement over the Gmail one), and Noah (no last name listed, always professional) for press. Doesn't he have an agent or anything?

Even if we do voice our concerns, I have to wonder if they're going to get to the proper person, or if they're going to get lost among all of the "Adam, love the website!" comments. I certainly hope they get through, but I have a strong feeling that we're unfortunately in the minority here.
Emcee, this kid was kind of a freak of nature. If a professor wanted a maximum of ten pages for something, he would write fifteen just for the hell of it, not to mention the fact that he graduated from our honors college in three years.

I wondered that too. Or if they'll just get intercepted by the new powers that be.
