and tis why i refused to put any serious thought into the whole thing. I use things like this for sources of amusement. In the past 6 months, I have found out AP news from here and google alerts way before any of the "official places" and I am sure it will remain that way. This new site was launched amongst a lot of controversy, and therefore will probably be forever tainted.

Hi all! I haven't been around much lately -- unusually busy at work, which of course is where I do most of my posting! Anyway, I agree that the layout of the website it a bit on the, shall we say, retro side...but it's nice that it exists, I guess.

And I have to continue to play my against-the-grain card: I think Larry's looking pretty cute (although I prefer the tied-back pony tail to the Michael Bolton ringlets).

MYB, I was actually going to make a Larry joke that somehow involved Kenny G and Michael Bolton in the punchline a few days ago, but it felt too mean. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who saw the similarity!

I really don't have anything to say about the website that hasn't already been said, but I cringed when I saw that there was a guest book directly on the main page. If it's so necessary to have a guest book, (which it's not, but whatever)why can't it have it's own separate link so you aren't hit with it right on the main page? I guess I just have to take that blog mostly free of grammatical errors and full of capitalization as a small victory instead of dwelling on guest books and forums.

It's too long of a story to even summarize, MYB. Let's just say you should be glad you don't know what's going on. You're saving yourself a lot of annoyance.

Not that I ever really wanna defend the "enemy", but a lot of times on blogs/websites run by others....the "star" will forward on notes, and someone else will actually enter it into the blog, correcting spelling/grammar/etc. But we all know this situation is completely different.

I guess this is the problem in you not knowing the whole story. A lot of us just generally feel like the whole endeavor has been very unprofessional; the way information has been released via a select few liason fans that befriended her based on whatever motives. Several people in the thread have had personal contact with her, as well, and she has just handled the entire thing very poorly. In the end, it probably really takes someone who is completely detached to know what is REALLY best. So in that sense, I don't think that a fan should be doing this at ALL. How often does it work out well when a fan attempts to do work for the object of the fan affection? The dissent is certainly not, in my case, anyway -- I don't want to explicitly speak for others -- because I think I should be doing it.

And really, this may sound bitchy, but as fans, we may not know how to do what needs to be done, but following his career as long as many of us have, I do think we reserve the right to say we know better. It doesn't take knowing how to design a website to figure out what one needs.

From experience, getting into a working relationship with someone who you're a big fan of, as Tink said, is very difficult. It puts people in awkward positions. To say the least. It's just not what needs to happen.

This isn't about US, or what we want for ourselves. If it were about getting what we want like a bunch of five-year-olds, it'd be something along the lines of, "ugh, why didn't he pick ME to design his website?" as opposed to judgement of the professional quality of the outcome. Why does wanting something have to have such a selfish connotation? I want his career to be given the treatment it deserves, not something that looks completely amateur. Why does that have to result in, "you didn't get what you want," with a tone like it's some sort of bratty desire?

But if you prefer to remain convinced that we're just jealous or some such bs as you're implying, then so be it.
