I also just want to say that this is not about (and I think the others directly involved agree) feeling insulted by what he said. Because I'm not. It's that by disregarding people who are well intentioned and trying to help -- with that kind of tone, no less -- he's making himself look bad. And that's disheartening to see.

I appreciate your apology; there's not really a need to feel as though you're choosing sides just because you want to post in both places. It's more a matter of where you stand on the issues, and I certainly don't feel that wanting to post there automatically indicates siding with the posters we don't like.

I will be the first to admit that I never really know how to take you.

I don't know if I should ask what that's supposed to mean.

Oh, I'm not really mad at Adam. I'm annoyed that those few posters are still posting about it on the new blog. I'm more frustrated about the whole situation.

I have no problem with posting there on occassion, but you're right, skittles, I don't know if I want to be friends with people who call others retarded and to go play in traffic. Also, I doubt anyone who made those posts last night would leave some of the Myspace picture comments that some of those girls do. Emcee's right. We shouldn't have to dumb down posts. We can be silly and inappropriate on here at times, but we also have our share of well thought out convos, too.

They're still going on about it? They just want to prove what True Fans they are for hanging on his every syllable.

Regardless of who (or which "side") the comment was directed towards, it should NEVER be said to ANYONE. It was completely inappropriate; both Emcee and I posted there to object as well.

last_one - I'm sorry that you had to drop in at such a contentious time! It is always nice to see new faces. All of these issues will disappear in time, I'm sure.

Everyone - I'm not offended by or mad at Adam. I think adopting the attitude he did last night was absolutely not the best choice for trying to address a matter where the other side voiced their concerns in a mature manner. However, since the blog has since been deleted, I'm assuming he realized the post made him look like he was five, and I'm not going to perseverate over the content of it too much.

What frustrates me the most is not the blog entry itself, but that he's left apparently not really knowing what we were attempting to convey. On top of that, we'll never have the opportunity to explain what we meant, and the incident is going to be judged, even by Adam, as one where a handful of girls were just so cruel to him and had no other intention than starting an argument on his site. I'd say that I wish we were a bit more explicit in our intent and better explained our suspicions, but how were we supposed to know he doesn't seemingly know what a "webmaster's" job entails? At any rate, it's certainly frustrating, but I'll just have to let the frustration go as there is no way of directly mitigating it.

And honestly? On a funnier note, it's a bit amusing how flippant he is about potentially alienating the fans who probably care the most about his career when he's going to sell like 45 albums, as a certain someone so eloquently put it last night.

One last thing? I agree with the earlier posts that his use of "retarded" (or retarted, as it were) is disappointing. I think we've all let it slip from time to time (although I don't think I've ever included it in one of my posts...), but someone whose fans hang onto his every word and start adopting it into their own language ("seriousfuckinly," anyone?) should be a little more careful with the language he uses. Not going to get on a soapbox about this any further, but he's lucky he hasn't had to deal with that in his own family, and I'm sure he wouldn't appreciate it if someone told him his own children should just man the fuck up and drink a glass of milk. Not offended, just disappointed - the same way I feel about the rest of the situation.

Again, something I would have included in my posts if I had not been pressed for time. Yes, it's bad to let those things slip, but whatever the specific term is, people do slip up and say things they're not supposed to. The thing is that... he knows he has a lot of people who look up to him and who hang on absolutely every word he says. If he wants people to keep their comments clean for the sake of the younger fans, you'd think he would be more careful what kinds of things he says, too, because he has influence over a lot of people. I'm not talking about the swearing. That, I honestly don't mind. But with things like using "retarded" as an insult, it would really behoove someone in his position to watch his language.
