re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

Well, congratulations to Larry and his wife. He could probably hardly help himself with the example of Adam's daddiness constantly in front of him. Where did you hear about it?

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

Lucky, I just got an add for Rent at New Haven at the top of BWW. I thought it was the Adam ad at first, then I realized it didn't animate to show Adam and looked again. Is it the same venue as his concert?

I have an ad-blocker, but BWW seems to be fighting it, bleh. I get the Adam concert and Mel Brooks at Barnes and Noble all the time. I wish I could figure out why it's allowing those so I could make them go away too.

It's at the same theater, Skittles. They start the 20th, and I believe it runs for a whole week. It usually gets a fairly large turnout, thanks to various discount codes. Just as a note for those out there who aren't currently attending a specific concert since they don't have a ticket, a new policy just came into effect where a student i.d. will get you a half priced ticket for any show (or concert) that hasn't sold out a few hours before it starts. :)

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

Here is Cheryl's review from the apm.com site. Glad to hear they picked a title for the album AND spruced the set list up:

i was lucky enough to get in for a meet and greet, so i had to pick up passes as soon as i got there. the theater was way small so even 10 rows back the seats were really good.

larry came out first and started playing at the piano and adam joined him on stage to thunderous applause. they played A TON of new stuff, so i apologize if the songs listed are not the correct titles.

they started off with a new song called "don't lie". really sounds awesome. almost APB/Mute like. i cannot wait for the new album in april! adam said the new album will be called Blinding Light. they then went into a song called "turn the lights on". on a whole, IMO the new album seems much harder than Civilian or MP.

adam announced that larry and his wife are expecting a baby and then proceeded to give advice to larry. he said he has two children, "f-ing brats" and wanted to impart some wisdom on them, some phrases he says to his children saying that larry may want to write them down, "what the f-k are you doing?", "no no no don't eat that, that's not food", "stop swinging that thing or you're gonna hit me in the nuts". gotta love it.

they then went into "see me shining"... "i wrote it for my wife when she wanted to kill me" and then the requisite "got me laid" at the end.

adam then did the usual broadway stuff, "maybe this time" and "maria". with the usual stories.

more new songs on the way.... "call your bluff". awesome song. a little softer than some of the other new ones.

someone got up and left and adam said "where are you going? what, you don't like latin music? racist! one day someone's going to punch me in the face" which was pretty funny.

"single drop of you" followed. i really did not love this song the first time i heard it but it definitly grew on me. adam then passed it over to larry and proceeded to make fun of him as he was stumbling talking about the song. larry then said "he does this to me all the time, he needs the attention." larry then played "will i drown"... much more guitar than in NC, and it sounds great.

adam asked how every one's new years eve was and someone asked how his was, he first replied "it sucked", then said "my wife made homemade chicken soup, got in bed early, put the kids in bed early, had sex and then watched janet dickenson modeling agency, it's a trainwreck." he then asked larry if he's seen it, and said "he doesn't even have a tv, he's a reader".

then played a new song called "a space in a blinding light". love the piano on this song. a love song, but not sappy. "just like i am" followed.

finished the set with "i'm with you". then came out and encored "glory". larry came back on and started the piano and those who knew what was coming started to get really excited. adam came out and the mic wouldn't work, so larry had to just keep playing. and then of course in true adam fashion, he forgot the words. finale encore song was "what i did for love".

the meet and greet was awesome. we all gathered in the gym of the building and waited for adam. he came in a side door with larry and larry's wife and quickly went over and hugged his mom and dad. a total "awwwww" moment. he greeted everyone and thanked them for the donations and then joked about their being peanut cookies for everyone. he then said "i'm here for you so if you want an autograph or a picture, come on over". that's when the mad dash began. we all lined up i was 3rd. got to talk to him a bit and had a picture taken. he was really really really sweet. talked to larry for a while to, to congratulate him on his impending fatherhood. didn't get to talk to larry much in NC, and he's an awesome person.

Nice recap. For some reason the news that the album's title is "Blinding Light" followed by the song "Turn the Lights On" made me laugh.

Thanks for passing that along, Tink. I'm really curious about the new songs. And Alive in the World is tomorrow - hope he's gotten in enough rehearsal time.

If there's no speaking, and only 20 songs - an average song is say, 4 minutes - the whole thing can't be more than an hour and a half? I'm not sure though. I say that and it'll end up being 3 re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

Just got back from the Mamaroneck show! I'll write more details tomorrow afternoon, but the show was great! There were a ton of new songs, and Adam was pretty funny between songs. A lot of audience interaction, and only two "I love you Adam"'s that I heard (and Adam responded to). I'm not sure about stagedooring, since I left right after the show.

Also, someone was videotaping the whole thing by me, and taking photos. It was a girl, she wasn't in a seat, and I guess she works for Adam or something.

I didn't realize you were going tonight - glad you had a good time and am looking forward to your review. What did the girl who was taping look like?

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

I'm glad you had a good time, GuitarGirl, and we'd all enjoy a recap (especially regarding the new songs).

Professional filming of the show? That's interesting - I wonder if it's for anything specific.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

The girl was kind of large, with straight brown hair (and bangs). I also wonder what it could be for. Not all of the songs were taped. Maybe This Time is a good example, though she did take pictures during the song.

EDIT: Another thing-the new CD was available for pre-order. The release date is April 30th, and the cost (shipping included) was $20.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

There may not even be 20 songs anymore, though. It could've been cut since the NYMF production.

April 30th? Good, that can be part of my "my thesis is finished and I survived" gift to myself.
