re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

i'm not sure specifically who you are referring to Siamese, because i didn't go back and read everything and usually i can't keep track of who posts what. i know some of them are young, not underage, but not 30 or so.

Adam definitely isn't the first actor to have drama within his fanbase, and he won't be the last. When you get large groups of people together, fights are bound to break out. They all think that they're right, and they believe that if they war in front of Adam, he'll suddenly realize that they are his biggest and bestest fan.

As a side note, I'm 15, and I promise that I'd never post anything like that. It's not just a generational thing.

I don't know. Something like this isn't really about age; I think it's easier to associate carless, irreverent behavior with younger fans, but as Lexi pointed out, this behavior runs the gammut. There are young kids who are perfectly respectful and would never act that way, and grown adults who act like the 14-year-old stereotypes.

very true Em, and i think anyone who spent any time at the neder this summer saw exactly that.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

I was pretty sure that two of them were at least 25+, if nothing else. Perhaps I'm mistaken. At any rate, not underage.

And really, I don't even care that people are publicly posting their fantasies about him. I drunkenly (and somewhat jokingly) yelled out mine in Tompkins Square Park*. re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2 It's that they're transparently begging him to read it, and really, just SAY that you want Adam Pascal to get his tongue split to help your personal oral sex fantasies along instead of "Cybele would like that!"

*And I totally want him to sub for one night.

the tongue splitting comment was made by someone who does piercings i think... i'm not sure that was meant to perpetuate any fantasies.

I think Cybele would LOVE it! *wink* is a pretty clear allusion to sex, but even if it isn't, there's still a treasure trove's worth of projection in those quotes.

Although, like I said, if he doesn't care, why should I? He's probably relieved that they're not bashing his family instead.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

I'm not sure how any of those constitute "fansites"- from what I've seen, they used as personal MySpaces. That's like Connie posting her exam schedule amongst Adam's concert dates. If they want to have Adam-centric MySpaces, that's fine, but don't promote them as "fansites" to every Adam fan that posts in his comments.

Although if he doesn't care, I suppose my feelings of being uncomfortable with it are for naught.

He "doesn't care" because he can't alienate his fanbase, especially if he thinks the 5 people posting on his MySpace 80 times a day constitute his "biggest fans" (which is just sad in itself- mediocre fans with the biggest MySpace addictions is more likely).

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

i know for a fact that many of the fansite owners have their own personal myspace accounts as well, so they are not using their personal pages for adam-centric material.

and all i can say is that it must be nice to be perfect. i think we are all guilty of something in life and we shouldn't throw stones. a fan is a fan, there is no greatest fan, no mediocre fan, sure someone may have be a fan for longer than you (and that's a general you, not aimed at anyone) but that doesn't make them any less of a fan, or a bad fan.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

Whether or not it bothers Adam, it still bothers me. No, it's not keeping me up nights, and no, it's certainly not unique to Adam fans, but I still find it creepy. And it's unfortunate that Adam even has to create individual blog entries to try and curb this behavior.

That's all I'm going to say, lest we slip into one of our multiple page myspace fan bashing sessions.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

Well, yeah, but their are decorums of respect, no matter how long you've been on board. Being more devoted than a casual fan, or something, certainly doesn't give you the privilege to ignore them. And I think that's what these people think they have.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

Even if Adam's jokes about gay shower sex and getting laid seem to welcome those types of comments, I still think it's a matter of respect. No one's perfect. I think it's entirely different when making comments like that amongst friends versus putting in out there on a public board for everyone (and Adam) to see.
#1439

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

I think they want everyone -- Adam and other fans -- to see. As some sort of status thing. But I also think there's a little bit of assumption that since he jokes about it, and they're big fans, they're "in" on those jokes and free to incorporate themselves into that, too. If that makes sense.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

Well, yeah. If they hear Adam say "this song got me laid big time" I guess they figure that his sex life is an okay topic of discussion.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

It definitely makes me uncomfortable when I read things about his wife or his kids. I feel like I'm being invasive. It might be different if Cybele was producting herself solely as the wife as Adam Pascal and was very in-your-face about it. But she's not, she's doing her own thing. I felt invasive just going to her blog because I don't really have food allergies.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

you all make very good points, i try to stay away from commenting about adam's family except for the scattered have fun with cybele and the boys.

you are right in saying that they probably assume it's okay since adam does it himself.

what i meant by my post is that no matter where you are, here, myspace, VFR, any message board there are always fans who claim to be "in the know" and are downright nasty to fans who are newer to the site, even if they are not newer to being a fan of that particular artist. and it's not just adam, happens every where, i know i've been a part of it on other boards.

i think we all need to remember that no one is perfect and that no one is a better or more loyal fan than anyone else.

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

i know for a fact that many of the fansite owners have their own personal myspace accounts as well, so they are not using their personal pages for adam-centric material.
But that doesn't make them "fansites", that makes them "the MySpace I use for my Adam fan personality".

No one here is claiming to be perfect, so I don't see why you keep pointing that out. We're saying we disagree with the way the manner in which they talk about Adam. We disagreed with the people that wrote fanfic stories about Adam and Anthony having sex as well. This isn't an exclusive reaction to your friends on MySpace, it's about anyone that objectifies Adam's personal life.

I also disagree with your claim that no one can be a better or more loyal fan. Ever hear the expression "fair weather fan"? It's found in any fanbase. I'm not suggesting that's the case here, but there is a difference between someone who likes Adam because "he's hot" and illegally downloads Adam's CD from a Megaupload link, and someone who owns the CDs, movie DVDs, etc.

I only mentioned the "biggest fan", because one person there claimed that they were Adam's biggest fans, so that made their behavior "OK". That's the kind of mentality that leads to the slippery slope of people thinking "Well, I'm his biggest fan, so it's OK if I lie to security guards and say I know him to get backstage. It's OK if I jump over a barricade to get to him because I want a picture. It's OK if I follow his car back to his apartment and wait outside in the shadows until he comes out again- Adam won't mind, I'm his biggest fan!"

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

The whole concept of a biggest fan of anyone is really vague. How can anyone know who is the biggest fan of anyone/anything?

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

Yes, I don't think this conversation went along the lines of "we're better because" as some of our previous conversations have. What have been posted are our own personal approach when it comes to speaking of Adam, and what we find are appropriate for ourselves and where we draw our own personal lines. The reason why this group gets along so well in our conversations because for the most part we are on the same page as where the line becomes crossed. Does that make us any better, well that's neither here nor there. I just think it makes us more compatible and less dysfuntional then some of the other sites.
#1448

re: The Official Adam Pascal Love Thread, part 14 v. 2

Yes, exactly. There is no technical right and wrong; these are our opinions of what is over-the-line. Adam doesn't [can't] mind, but that doesn't mean other fans can't find issue.

This is completely off-topic, but since I know there are other Titanic fans on this thread- the History Channel is airing about 5 hours of Titanic specials right now. Did you know the NYTimes was the first newspaper to publish that the Titanic sank? The White Star Line tried to force them to retract it before it was proven.

I totally agree with you guys. Personally, I'm weirded out when I hear people bring his family into things.

And skittles, that's really interesting. I love Titanic. Maybe I'll go watch that.
