OH. GOD.
*facepalm*
I find it funny more than anything else. I wouldn't really want there to be a show without a little screaming.

Well, there's enthusiastic screaming (which I will be doing) and the shrill type of screaming.
Oh, my. That will make the Joe's Pub concert pale by comparison.

Were you at the second one? I was at the first but heard that the second had some pretty intense screaming.
I'd have to agree with Lexi. I'm all for enthusiastic screaming, but there is that shrill, only-dogs-can-hear screaming that tends to come from the type of fans that his MySpace seems to attract.
I was at both. Originally I couldn't go to the second one, then I could, but it was sold out. The day before, for the heck of it, I checked and a ticket popped up. No one else could go, so I was just going to hang up by the bar, but QM, Em and Undi were kind enough to let me sit at their table.

Lexi I think you should dress up as a cat, and Chloe can bring the finger sandwiches.
What kind of finger sandwiches do you think would be appropriate for one of Adam's concerts?
Peanut butter and cheese, if we're going along with the most inappropriate sandwich choice selection, as the Anthony fangirls did.
I remember there was some Anthony/finger sandwich story but never heard the details. I would be more inclined to bring Adam some sushi.
They were the most disgusting looking things, and I only saw a picture of them. They were made with some vegetarian sludge and had popsickle sticks with Anthony's face in them. I'm sure they smelt bad too.
Poor Anthony. Was someone in a cat suit as well?
Sadly yes. It was mostly just the ears and a tail with drawn on whiskers. It wasn't like Maureen's, it was just she randomly decided to be a cat.
To that, a great, big, "Oy!"

some people...*shakes head*
Wow. I somehow find this reassuring in a way. It reminds me that I'm still partially sane.
At the LA concert, there was a group of tween girls sitting behind me, who would scream (shrilly) at just about everything and nothing. I nearly missed some of Adam's jokes while being simultaneously deafened by the "ohmygod I love you's."
I just really don't see the point of it. I mean, do these girls really think that if they scream loud enough, Adam's going to jump down into the audience and swear his undying love for them?
Ummm...NO.
Yup, no such luck for them.
They're just being kids. It's more about them enjoying being hysterical than anything else. If they weren't in a group it probably wouldn't happen.
Don't you get it, they're the true RENT-heads. They devote every minute of their time to loving Rent. And Adam has to know how much of a Rent-head they are. I didn't realize that being a fan was such a competition. When I saw the show in Toronto there were people wearing T-shirts with quotes all over them and they had I Rent written on their foreheads, it was scary.
Aww, Chloe, you're just too nice. :) I think you give them too much credit though. I mean, I know I didn't act that way when I was 13 and with a group. I guess it's just the cool thing to do nowadays.
CS - Hilarious. But seriously, it has become a little bit scary the lengths some of these "fans" will go to.
I think my favourite is still the girl who took her graduation photo with all her Rent memorabilia and everyone on LJ was telling her to send to the cast and the Larsons.
I call myself "obsessed with Rent" and I thought I was bad. But that girl is overly obsessive. Years from now when she looks at her senior pic she's going to think, "Oh my God I was such an idiot"
I'm not saying that liking Rent is bad or anything and you can continue to enjoy it, but I guarantee years from now, you won't like it as much as you did then
I'm guessing 90% of these Rent fans got into it from the movie. You can't say it hasn't had an impact.
I'll admit that I tend to give everyone the benefit of the doubt until they make it perfectly clear that they're not worthy of it. Maybe the screaming skipped your generation, but the Beatles fans made it impossible to actually hear any of their concerts, and the young Frank Sinatra's fans were pretty loud too. I guess I find it both funny and encouraging that Adam can inspire some of that too. Not that I necessarily want to listen to a whole lot of it.
