I really wish Namo would shove it. If he bumps that Munchausen thread tonight, I'm gonna lose it.
Oh gosh...that's horrible.
Wait, what did he do?
He's just being really rude in hinting at whether SallyBrown is being honest about this. It's completely unncessary at this time.
Do any of you guys have Tivo?
Really, really rude. Look what Namo just said.
Yeah, I finally commented. I'm sorry if he's that much of a cynic, but using the death of a 17 year old for witch hunt is just cruel. Sally was trying to be helpful because he posted on this board and others knew him. Namo questioning her honesty every step of the way is just ridiculous.
Ok so I was just catching up on what was said today so here goes
1- That is really sad, and some people are jerks.
2- I don't understand why people are so angry about Million Little Pieces. I mean ok so some things were exaggerated, the jist of it is all true though, I don't think it makes it not as good or whatever. My mom read it and loved it and she doesn't care, I'm still going to read it.
3- I got a gift from a friend from California today, a really cuute butterfly candle thing. But you want to know what is cooler? There was bubblewrap!
4- I personally love Wicked. It isn't my favorite, but it is in my Top 10. I think it is because I connect to Elphaba a LOT, especially the sediment of Defying Gravity. I love the music, the story, and seeing it in person made it so much better. I never liked Wizard of Oz as a child...the song Somewhere Over A Rainbow annoyed me

Wow, that's extremely rude. She should just ignore him.
I just bought the Aida recording today (I had a few select songs from it before, but I caved today at BestBuy). Unfortunately, I never saw the show. The recording is good... I think? Lots of the songs seem to lag, but the songs that are good are really good.
The mediocre songs are blah, but the good ones are so, so beautiful.

It's honestly sad that people have become cynical enougb to doubt these sorts of things. However, if you're an LJ user, you might be vaguely aware of the limeybean saga that swept over a good deal of livejournal yesterday. It basically came down to a girl faking her death and hurting a lot of people when she came back and posted that she was fine and pretendned that what she did was brave. Drama like that makes it very hard to believe in people sometimes.
But I don't think anyone would lie about DamnYankees. That's just so terrible. He was so young. Gosh ...
(By the way, hi guys. I've been meaning to introduce myself to this thread for a while now, but I sometimes get a case of the lurks.)
Wow, that's really sad.
Okay, SD, an answer to your Wicked question. It's kind of long, as I have a LOT to say. Yes, I am a fan of the show (see my user name). I used to be one of those crazy obsessed fan girls, except I can spell and use correct grammar. I mean, I was OBSESSED. It was kind of ridiculous. The music just...grabbed me, and I fell in love with it, and with the actors protraying the roles. Wicked, in all honesty, changed my life. But, not in the way most people would think. It wasn't really the message, it was that it brought me here. I wanted to find our more about the show, and a friend told me about bww, so I read for months, then finally joined. I never posted like an obsessed person because I'd lurked for so long. I put up a sane front.
Though, I was never EVER as bad as any of these crazy fangirls. I say Wicked changed my life because finding bww has opened me up to a whole world of shows and music that I would never have been exposed to before. I love theatre before Wicked, but I hadn't had that much exposure to current Broadway, and although Into the Woods had been my favorite show before, Wicked took its place. I'm somewhat of an OBC snob, as I haven't seen it since Idina left, and I haven't really wanted to (though I DO want to see Julia). It certainly isn't the best show ever, and it has its flaws, but it will always be extremely special to me.
The end. I hope you don't think less of me, now.
Wow ElphieDefiesGravity, I had no idea you knew anything about Wicked. Say, have you heard of this guy named Raul? Apparently he's a good singer .

Haha, why would I think less of you for liking Wicked? I like a lot of stuff my friends don't, so don't worry, it's totally cool. I hope my question didn't appear snobby or cynical. I was honestly looking for opinions (and thanks for yours!), not trying to make a backhanded slam on Wicked.
I personally couldn't find a connection with the music, but maybe I just need to give it a few more tries and/or actually see the show.
Okay, "Dance of the Robe" is so... bizarre. I love all the romantic songs, though.
I love the drum break in DOTR. There are a good few minutes that got cut on the CD, unfortunately.
Elaborate Lives... guh.
That's really sad about DamnYankees, and after seeing what was said in that thread, I have this strong urge to reach through my computer and punch Namo in the face.
Elphie, awesome post. I know exactly what you mean about how finding BWW expanded your theatrical horizons.
I bought the Aida cast recording a few weeks ago, and I've been absolutely enthralled by Written In The Stars and I Know The Truth ever since.

I had Elaborate Lives downloaded for a while, but yeah, it's hot.
The photos of Adam in the booklet are... less than flattering. Sherie is SO pretty, though.
Really, CS? I had NO idea!
Yay, I'm luffed!
SD, your question didn't appear snobby, I'm just overly cautious, I guess, because there have been some bad experiences on this board, and I have met a certain person (*coughcough BG2*) who looks down upon you if you like Wicked and Idina.
It took me a while to get into AIDA's music, even after I'd seen the show, but now I love it!
I love Aida, my dad couldn't stand it, and I forced him to listen to it. There are some songs that aren't extraordinary, but I love the majority of it. I always wonder what people think of me, a pale white blonde girl, getting on the bus with Gods Love Nubia blasting out of my headphones.
I like the pictures of Adam in the big damn Aida book.

Wow, okay, first of all that is really sad about DamnYankees. I've never read any of his posts, but gosh, 17, that's just too young. *huggles* to anyone who knew him/read his posts.
I'll enter the Wicked conversation carefully. I have never seen it, but I am going to in Cincinnati in March. I do love the music. It is beautifully written and sung. The fun parts are fun and the serious parts are touching. Sometimes I cry when listening to For Good because it perfectly describes my relationship with a former best friend of mine, and it just hits an emotional cord with me.
I understand that it can be annoying when people become obsessive with a show, but honestly, if it brings more young people to Broadway then it can't be all bad can it? There are not enough people in their teens and twenties who enjoy theater, and if a show (like Rent, back in the day) helps with this then I say let them obsess. For me things usually go in chains, like I fell in love with Adam, which led to Anthony, which led to Jonathan Larson in general, which led to Raul. I hope all the Wicked fangirls are led to other theater and start to build on the next generation of Thespians.
