This reminds me of the Company drawing.
Heh, Katt. I remember going on a class trip to a museum (I think it was Museo Del Barrio) about 2 years ago, and one of the pieces in the modern art exhibit was a large bale of hay.
I've never been myself, but I've seen pictures -- they've got some really cool glass sculpture things at El Museo del Barrio.
I saw a canvas painted blue in MoMa.
I the Company drawing.

It's so funny the things they come up with. I mean, it's hilarous that they had an exhibit that you couldn't look at. If you tried, it hurt your eyes, unless you were really far away from it. And honestly, a rope? People must just randomly submit things and see if they'll take it.
Oh yeah, I saw a canvas painted all one color, and it had some long weird name. I should just paint a canvas all green, and call it, "Person trekking through fields of clover" and they'd probably take it. :P

I read this article about some huge art award in London for this absurd amount of money and the winner's piece was an unmade bed.
I was like "If that's art, I am an artist."
Artissssssst.
You've all seen how artistic I can be.

I remember this tv show, not too long ago, they took kids from the 1st grade and had them draw pictures and put them in an art gallery mixed in with *real* art. They had 10 professionals determined which one was which and they couldn't tell most of them apart. It was funny.
I went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art a couple of times for school field trips. I was kind of bored; it didn't do much for me.
Ooh, but there are some amusing art stories. I had to take art in 8th grade, the last time I took it. One of our big projects was to make this mask of a face. I was doing fairly well with mine, but when I painted at one point, I totally messed up and the wrong color got all over the mask. So then I got frustrated and randomly threw different colors of paint all over it. My teacher came over and was like, what happened? I paused for a moment and explained it's all symbolic, and assigned each color to stand for an emotion. My teacher thought that was wonderful.

hah..good story
<<--look guys, i'm with Adam (brr I look so cold)
I LOVE the Met. I think I could spend days just wandering through it, but I've never had more than a few hours at a time.
Same here. I really like going in the Spring time, when you can walk through the park, or sit on the steps. You really need like two days to spend there, though. It's. just. so. big. When I go, it's usually just to see a couple of exhibits, and then I've already spent too much time.
I haven't been to the Met in a really long time. I have to go back.
Cute picture, Alex.

Thanks haha
Ashley, I'm the same way about the Met. I'm sure I've said it before, but the Temple of Dendur is one of the most calming places ever, and I really love looking at all of the sculptures and artifacts from ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome. I always get a sort of bittersweet feeling - happy that this much has been preserved, but wondering what sort of magnificent sculptures and paintings were destroyed millenia ago that we'll never have the pleasure of seeing.
The Temple of Dendur is one of my favorite places ever. No joke. That's my history nerd, right there. :) When I was younger, I really liked that Sesame Street movie, Don't Eat the Pictures, and a lot of it centers around the Temple, and the little boy, etc, so when I first got to see it in person, I was really excited. But it's so beautiful in that room, with the skylights and the panel windows that look out into the park.
I have no idea what you're talking about.
Metmuseum.org -- look for pictures of the Temple of Dendur. It's beautiful. It's a temple that used to be along the bank of the Nile, but it was moved and brought here -- as a gift, I think. I'm not sure.
Sarah, the Temple of Dendur is an ancient Egyptian temple that was transported to the US and reassembled bit-by-bit once it got here. It's part of the Metropolitan Museum of art here in NYC.

That's really neat.
One of my new favorite places in the Met is the roof. I was up there in August, and you're just surrounded by trees in every directon. It's really calming and away from all the hustle and bustle down below.
I think there was some sort of party or fundraiser with Aida at the Temple of Dendur, around the time it opened.
